Poker Face (2023– )

Reminded me of another show
27 February 2023
I started watching the series out of curiosity (from the ads), wondering how a series could be made out of someone who was a human lie detector. As it turns out, I was surprised at the clever writing and the format of the show. Each episode starts with a crime being committed, with no mention of Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) until after the crime has been committed. In sort of flashback style, we see that Charlie was at the scene of the crime before it happened, but unaware anything was happening. Ultimately, the style of the Colombo TV show from the 1970's, with a twisted style of justice for each episode since Charlie is on the run and is avoiding the police. If you're looking for a clever who done it, this may fit the bill for you.

Delightful Fun For Any Age

I knew nothing about this charmimg and quirky film before watching it. The premise is excellent and weaves into the Sherlock Holmes mythos surprisingly well. Perfect sort of film for an escapist indulgence that's relatively family friendly (there is some violence and adult themes). Essentially a mystery and adventure that is both fun and exciting. I suggest you give it a chance, IMHO I believe it'll be worth your time.

Unexpected good

No idea what this was about when I started watching it and felt that the development of the story was slow, but the story unfolded very well. Good piece of scifi designed with a lot of suspense and unknowns that make you wonder what's happening and doesn't spoon feed you the outcome. Worth a watch.

Old School SciFi where humanity is the focus over effects
4 April 2020
Happened across this today and ended up binging the entire series! As some reviewers have stated, the episodes run slowly, however, each episode looks at the story of indivudal characters in the ensemble cast. The twists are based on quirky SciFi elements and helps the viewer examine how the episode character comes to this point or to an unexpected situation, which may not have a typical resolution. The production, cinematography and acting are top notch and worth viewing from a visual and stylistic perspective. The stories leave you with a feeling of melancholy, that is strangely satisfying. Arthouse work in a TV series format. Worth a watch in my book. If you're looking for lasers and whiz-bang effects, this may not be the series for you.

Very well done sci-fi

Just watched this on Amazon, wasn't sure what to expect. The film I watched was dubbed in English and the dialogue was passable. Very impressed with the effects and the basic premise. The story is a bit weak, but not horrible. The acting was also quite good. Good entertainment for an evening home.
