Utterly juvenile... Plot, script, set, factual references, all utterly silly and quite juvenile - I imagine that a 12 year old could write this for an English Lit essay and still get a B- for being so obviously impossible and all over the place. A huge shame particularly for the gifted cast.

A potentially great thriller that patronises the intelligence of the viewer...

I'll be brief on the premise itself... Fantastic opening scenes followed by suspense and surprise throughout the early episodes leaving you on the hook for the finale...
Madden and Rundle and Hawes are outstanding and supported by very competant performances by Bowmand and McKee amongst others.
Sadly... Tandon's acting in a key character was flat and emotionless yet worse still Nina Toussaint-White 's portrayal of the DS Louise Rayburn was irritating, sporadic, ill conceived and just plain wrong. Toussaint-White can obvioulsy act but her attempts at playing the ridiculous character of Rayburn just didn't belong and detracted from the key scenes constantly.
The achilles heel of this production is clear for anyone... If you maker a thriller based upon actual realities and roles within society, or in this case specifically central government and law enforcement, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not turn it into a ridiculous soap style twist and turn fiasco more akin to a sci-fi production. If watching a sci-fi or supernatural thriller you expect to see the unbelievable, but a thriller set today in actual positions within actual agencies should at the very least has some semblance of realism. Bodyguard sadly is lost to its own laughable plot backfires, shamefully flawed scenes of real life scenario's, and its utter utter patronising execution of police and security service protocols.
In one late scene viewers will be frustrated to distraction by poor scripting in a key scene that will leave the common man, or woman, scratching their heads thinking why, why, WHY(?!) ruin this potetnially fantastic thriller with juvenile errors of judgement throughout. Did the production company or writer actual seek advie from professionals on anything? I think not. Call me and i would do the job for free so that a serious politcially based thriller can be just that and celebrated for its factual accuraciesas well as suspence.

I'll be very brief... Jackman as always is immense... Especially so considering that:
The script is awkward and clumsy, The plot starts 'ok' but is soooo predictable and frankly 'same same' albeit teasing you early on that it has substance. My son and I figured the entire plot within 30 minutes (of a very unnecessarily long movie), The characters are soul-less and cardboard like. Even Jackmans character is wayward and only saved by his convincing portrayal of a desperate man. Gylenhall is absolutely ornamental in this film... An empty shell of a character, poorly acted with little direction, and leaves you wondering why oh why did he take on this role.
I promise you that if you a connoisseur of fine thrillers you will walk away from this film with a noticeably sore bottom and questioning yourself as to why oh why did IMDb members give it such a ridiculously high rating. Its a silly film about a very serious issue and is just not nationwide cinema release material.
This movie is a 7/10 all the way and without Jackman would struggle to be a 6.

Once upon a time the awesome Alien franchise was born... When i switched on my Xbox 360 earlier this week and played this game i quickly realised that the franchise, specifically in respect of video gaming, is dead and buried. The graphics are too sharp yet ill detailed and not at all Alien-esque... The titles are also juvenile attempts at mimicking the movies and are awful. The levels belong on an original xbox or PS2 release and are dreary, tiresome, repetitive and ill conceived. The interface isn't innovative in any way and must have been designed on the back of the blank cheque that Sega wrote Gearbox to bring this high school project to fruition.
I've been playing video games for 30 years and not ever has a publisher spent so much dollar on promotion for such a bland, weightless, empty shell of a concept that has not materialised into any semblance of a 21st century hi-def title.
In conclusion its like playing a several year old platinum title that has no place being in the modern era of video gaming. A poor poor title that'll keep you happy (in anticipation only) for about 10 minutes (if you're a die-hard Alien fan) before the disc is on its way to trade in for store credit.
What were 20th Century Fox thinking?! PS. Give the trailer director credit for clever editing, tricking us all into believing that we were actually buying something of substance.

I'll make this short and sweet...
The script is predictable, unfunny and unoriginal...
The direction is poor...
The editing extremely disjointed...
Special effects are good...
Gyllenhaal and Arterton are far too good for this flimsy material and are the movies only shining light. The chemistry is good albeit predictable and Gylenhaal makes a surprisingly good action lead. Arterton looks stunning and acts amicably with the 1980's TV movie script.
However... Packaged up i can see a franchise in the making... But drop Newell, get a decent script, keep Arterton, and stop trying to remake an Indiana Jones/Assassins Creed hybrid! It doesn't work! Not worth a trip to the Cinema, wait for the DVD.

There is only one movie franchise that has twisted, turned and reinvented itself on so many occasions...
007 has unfortunately dwindled more than it has bedazzled over the last decades but I am relieved to see that Martin Campbell has put the edge back into the Bond series.
The originally unpopular Craig grinds through this action packed feature with ease and in my opinion proves all of his doubters (including me) very very wrong..
At last we have another true Bond.. Sharp, sophisticated and as tough as nails... And perhaps correctly more shaken than stirred.

The first Ice Age hit the DVD charts with a bang after a lukewarm cinematic reception and a truly original animated classic it has become. Adults appreciated the charm and wit of the characters as well as young kids and a very emotional happy ever after ending finished the title well.
Now consider Ice Age: The Meltdown. The recipe is as follows; Take the four superb stars (including Scrat) from the first instalment, mix them with some new quirky yet unwelcome and annoying characters, destroy any remnants of a plot, add some far too infrequent hilarious scenes and push it at the box office as a blockbuster animation. Result - a misfiring splutter of a movie saved from obscurity by it's similarity with the first movie. I scored it a 7 as there are a couple of very funny moments and i really do like the formula.
Tis a shame... Shame on the creators for not doing much much better, especially with the ridiculously poor plot. Ice Age 3 has to be better.
