Unforgettable!
27 January 2019
I was 16 when I saw this movie. I fell instantly and irrevocably in love with it, along with Tom Conti! The movie is truly unforgettable. At 50, I remember every scene! I finally ordered it on dvd after being sorely disappointed with not being able to find it available for download. It has its campy moments but they never become a parody. They fit perfectly and allow the movie to remain fun without delving into ridiculousness. The casting is perfect! It was my first time seeing Tom Conti and I lost my teenaged heart to him. He and Jobeth Williams were perfectly cast and entirely believable. Both are so incredibly talented! The movie is clean and never uncomfortable...except maybe for "Alan McMann" lol. Do yourself a favor and watch it. I dare you to NOT be charmed and generally unaffected! And Tom...if you find yourself suddenly single, how about taking a trip to North Carolina...😂

Episodes (2011–2017)

Leblanc is one HELL of an actor!
16 August 2018
I'll start by saying the writers, along with the entire cast of Episodes, are brilliant. Perfectly casted and incredibly smart and funny, it's one of the best comedies I've seen in a while. I never watched friends that much, and all I knew of Matt LeBlanc was his Joey character. In this show, he is totally convincing as a Hollywood has-been. He blew me away, seeing him in character as an "actor", then dropping back into the jaded, shallow "Matt Leblanc character", which he plays so convincingly. It's hard to explain but to see the shift from when the cameras are on, then back into his original character when they are off, is marvelous! The dialogue is fantastic and the situations, while sometimes outlandish, are totally believable. I feel like a voyeur who is seeing Hollywood as its true, bloodsucking, soul-crushing self. The writers, Sean and Beverly, are played brilliantly and convincingly, while the actress who portrays Carol, has quickly become one of my favorites. This show is cringe inducing, laugh out loud hilarious! I simply can't do it justice in this review... Do yourself a favor and watch!

Temple Grandin (2010 TV Movie)
10/10
Wow
3 April 2010
Let me begin by saying that, having an autistic child, I was elated and spiritually bamboozled by this movie. Beautifully done and acted.

I know that the movie should stand alone but I haven't liked Claire Daines since the whole affair/Mary Louise Parker incident. It shouldn't make a difference but it did. I never watched a movie with her after that.

UNTIL Temple Grandin. Her acting was so superb I was able to forget my reasons for not caring for her. In fact, I may be a little bit of a fan. I can't hold a grudge in the face of that kind of talent.

I loved that the movie made no apologies for autism. It made no excuses. Temple was only given a modicum of leeway and the rest she did on her own. I loved how everyday items were shown from an autistic point of view. I actually learned a thing or two.

Dirt (2007–2008)

Could easily be good...or not.
3 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the previous post...Dirt could be very good or very bad. I, too, never go with the pilot...it was easy to see that no one was completely comfortable with their characters but I feel that's just temporary. Two things I'm not crazy about already...the first being all the sex. For some reason, watching Julian McMahon on Nip/Tuck in the act is sexy but these characters make me uncomfortable...as if they, like me, just don't feel it's necessary. The second thing that worries me is that I'm already feeling like things have gone over the top and it's just the pilot. One starlet dead, one on life support, a mentally ill photographer who talks to his cat, a basketball player with a hooker (who ends up dead, it seems) isn't overly realistic to me. I read 'dirt' online and in mags all the time and don't see anything like this. Hopefully, the writers will realize I'm more interested in Britney Spears and K-Fed drama than I am in a star's untimely death (River Phoenix, Chris Farley). They are right about some things, though...everyone wants to know what's going on with famous people...it's nice to see these people with incredible lives have the same issues as the rest of us! All in all, I'll keep watching!

Wonderland (2003)

Brilliant
6 February 2005
Kudos to director and cast for such a realistic film. The grittiness, lack of glamor and desperation drew me into the film and kept me there. I was truly impressed by how dates and information were relayed within the film; ie newspapers, letters, etc. It kept the film moving at such a fast pace I didn't feel the urge to fast forward once. Personally, I thought all the principles did a tremendous job...it was great to see Bosworth and Kudrow in such difficult roles. It made me want to cry at times. Val Kilmer didn't surprise me...his performances of this nature usually leave me in awe. Overall, this is a brilliant film not to be missed!
