This film is every bit as good, if not better than, " Come and See" which has been praised for over 30 yrs. Fantastic actors and writing, although the wedding at beginning of film lasted far too long. Unbelievable inhumanity which makes me fear for today, with nationalism making such an unwelcome return to world events.

Could have been so much more. The love/hate relationship between Frank and Ava is poorly realized. Cast is terrible, acting is worse. Somehow manages to both capture the 50's and at the same time look like a low budget production. Eric Roberts adds his usual cheese performance to the movie and the writing is God awful, often repeating the same lines over and over. Don't bother.

This is a good movie with humor, action, good acting, and high production values. The 1 star reviews are obviously from a bunch of men with insecurity issues who feel threatened by women who don't "know their place".

Frankie Laine had a great voice and will forever be remembered for "Rawhide" and "Blazing Saddles", but he was about as boring and un-charismatic as they come. Show was a series of songs never heard of, and a few non singing acts. Totally forgettable.

Not nearly as bad, or as good, as some of the reviewers say. I found it acceptable, considering the budget, and lack of a "name" star. Tons of action and blood, if you go for that, and acting not horrible either. It was on the long side though, I would agree with that, could have been a good 20 minutes shorter. I gave it a seven because the plot was just a little bit different, and they fleshed out at least a couple of the characters.

I rarely review any films on IMDB, but this film moved me like no other in such a very long time. Emotionally devastating and heart breaking, with tour de force performances by both Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore, this movie is the very definition of pathos perfectly captured on film. A fascinating and all too authentic look at a symbiotic relationship between mother and daughter and a long and tragic fall from privilege and wealth. Don't miss this movie.
Unflorgetable

This movie used to be on "all the time" back in the early days of HBO, the early 80's. I must have watched it a dozen or more times back in the day, and would never tire of it, even to this day. Many other reviewers have given great in depth reviews, so I won't rehash character analysis or plot breakdown. I will just say that it is shamefully overlooked and almost forgotten except by those who love movies where plot and character development drive the movie over cheap thrills and CGI. I don't understand the venom the early reviewers spit at this film, but I don't share their feelings. It is unfathomable how this film never made it out on DVD general release. After many years of searching, I finally found a foreign DVD release of Red Ryder. Quality not the greatest, but decent enough to enjoy this favorite of mine, whenever I want. Add my name to those who champion this great film, for those who have not seen it, look for it, Google it, Amazon it, if you can find it, I don't think you'll be sorry.

An average thriller, you get what you would expect. Car chases, bad guys, revenge, drug lords, damsel in distress, shoot outs, anti hero, etc. It was not as bad as some here post. I've seen WAY worse. The lead, Patric, wasn't bad. Willis and Cusak were wasted. Overall, slightly above average, hence my 6 rating.
