The Meg (2018)
3/10
This is all you expect
21 August 2022
Absolut trash, as you would expect from a movie with a megaladon being the villain. So, you know exactlynqhat you're getting.

Even then, there's not a single line that hasn't been used before. Adds nothing new, not even cgi effects. So, a waste of time.

The Wire (2002–2008)
10/10
A raw view on violence, drugs and people
8 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think the best thing about The Wire is how well it captures the essence of people. None of them are all evil or all good. You can see the flaws in the good guys and the merits on the bad ones. The characters in this show are so deep. There are no heroes or villains. It all depends on what angle you're looking at.

The show also showed us how some characters got to be where they're at. Each character has its own storyline, some get redemption, some get killed, some get punished, and so on. But if you're paying attention you'll understand how a new Avon, a new Bubs, a new Daniels, a new Omar, a new McNulty were made.

Overall, this cyclic aspect of the show makes it feel reliable, because that's what life is really about. Quoting another show "we see the same events in human history because the nature of men doesn't change. It is cyclical".

For the spoilers:

Watching this you understand that no matter what happens, the system will remain the same because it is so far gone, that it just can't be changed.

10/10.

Solid movie that owes nothing to the trilogy
7 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is way better than I expected, specially because of most reviews and overall grade here in IMDB.

It brings a lot of scenes back from the trilogy as a kind of tribute, but also to help us remember what they're talking about, since the movies are all connected. The main elements of Matrix are still there: questioning existence, philosophy dilemmas, social criticism, awesome characters, great outfits, solid soundtrack and so on.

I also loved the fact that the movie is aware of what it is: uses a lot of fan's theory's to explain the Matrix and it's universe and also criticizes itself when saying the industry only makes reboots because it's easy money. But most importantly, it has a nice plot and cool action scenes. Agent Smith is a bit too self-centered in this one, but I'll let it slide.

It ends in a way that more matrixes can come. I enjoyed it, even though it could have been 30 minutes shorter.

A great story that holds up until the very end
29 January 2022
I definitely suggest that you watch this if you're in doubt and like mystery, horror, thriller films/series.

The first two episodes are a bit low, but from them the series pick up the pace as more info is revealed. Character development is solid, the storyline is presented with mastery and the amount of information you get every minute is enough to keep you interested and not so much that becomes confusing. As a matter of fact, this is one of the pictures that best ties all pieces together. The storyline makes sense, there are no (big) plot holes. A very solid script.

I am only disappointed with the end, to be honest. It is one of the endings I predicted could happen, but definitely the one I wasn't cheering for. It does make sense, though, so I can't really complain. But I expected it would be different. That's why I'm giving it an 8 and not a 9 or 10. But definitely one of the most interesting series I've seen in a long time.

Ps: there are a few jumpscares throughout the series, so if you're a too frightened of a person, maybe you should considered watching with someone.

Great story, average acting, terrible directing
16 January 2022
That's it: great story, average acting, terrible directing. Could have been so much better, but the director couldn't really decide how he wanted the characters to be. How strong, fast and intelligent they are depends entirely on how the plot needs it to be. More consistency would have been great.

It's a brilliant story that was told gradually worse
4 January 2022
Exceptional story that was managed to stay consistent through all the seasons, however in the last two it became quite obvious. The nicest thing about GoT was how unpredictable the events always were. But then it got a bit obvious. It is also quite depressing, to be honest. The last two seasons have some annoying plot holes, but overall turned out to be a good ending.

Mandatory to see because it's a sequel
31 May 2021
Honestly, this movie only takes 7 stars because it is part of a great movie series, but It didn't have to be this long and split into two parts.

If you'd skip it, minor damage to the story would be done.

Dracula (2020)

I don't get all the low ratings evaluations
14 May 2021
Sure, it is a completely different take at Dracula. The ending might be a little confusing, but still. Very well directed and the actors, specially the gentleman playing dracula, are great.

Overall it was a fun show to watch. I'd totally recommend it.

It gets worse by the minute

As simple as that. Everything about this movie is lame. And it keeps getting worse.

The Office (2005–2013)
10/10
Simply awesome - one of the best shows ever
25 June 2020
The Office is so much more than your regular sitcom. Of course it is primarily a comedy - and it is FUNNY, but it has this great characters development over the years in such a way that it makes you feel like you know all those people, almost as if you worked in Dunder Mifflin yourself. You support the characters, regret their poor decisions, feel happy when something good happens to them. And you also feel a fair amount of embarrassment due to all these awkward moments.

I guess The Office really has it all: dumb jokes, funny jokes, drama, story telling, laughs, crying, awkward moments, dad jokes and, of course, "that is what she said" jokes. Also, the actors in this show are excellent. The actors can play, so perfectly, these ordinary people that we all can relate. And yet, each one of them is so special and peculiar. We all know a Dwight, a Pam, a Jim, a Michael and so on. And at some point you understand that we all have bits of these great characters.

I think, that is why The Office is such a good show: it is, indeed, about the ordinary things in life. Out stupid, wonderful, boring and amazing life. All in all, there is a lot of beauty in ordinary things, and that is the point.

P.S.: Steve Carell os the best, but season 9 is a killer! The final episode of this show is simply a masterpiece. Finish watching it!

The Cobbler (2014)
7/10
This isn't the typical Adam Sandler movie, but...
8 September 2015
... it's a very good one. If you're looking for something funny, then go watch something else as this film goes far away from the regular comic act from A. Sandler we are all used to.

In fact, this film is anything but regular. This is an out of the box, imaginative and creative story. The plot has a good pace as it keeps presenting characters and information but also progresses quickly through the story. As every good movie, there's a bit of a twist in the end, which was very positive to the story.

In a certain way, it reminds me of two other fine movies starred by two comedy actors but focusing on a creative story rather than a funny one. Those would be "Be Kind Rewind" (Jack Black) and "Stranger Than Fiction" (Will Ferrell). The connection with Be Kind is mainly due to the preservation of the tradition that lies in both plots and how important that is to the course of the story. The connection with Stranger is because of the innovative fantasy that gives such peculiar taste to these stories.

If this film had at least a couple of funny scenes, it would be better, but it is good to take a break from all the dumb comedy movies we have been seeing lately. Definitely worth checking out!

It Follows (2014)

This has to be the greatest collective prank ever
1 September 2015
The concept of this film can be somewhat innovative considering it doesn't take the "regular" things to become "possessed" - such as playing board games, running spirit sessions, harvesting corpses or collecting ancient objects from tombs.

That being said, the film is a straight down hill after the first scene. The way it started, it got me thinking "wow, this is interesting.. Let's see what happens". Oh boy, why? There is half a scene that can be considered scary and it's due to a freaking cat that jumps out on the screen (how original). The movie goes by slowly, most scenes are during the day, which has a significant impact on how scared you feel, plus the "demon" or whatever that is, isn't really scary. Also, if you're one of those people such as myself, who like some sort of explanation about things - even if vague ones - forget about it. It doesn't tell you what this is, how it has been generated nor how to get away from it. In addition, the characters are boring and they all pass the idea of being depressed. That doesn't make anything more scary, just weird and boring.

BUT, the worst is yet to come!!! The ending. Oh my God. This has to be the worst ending ever! Seriously. My girlfriend is addicted to terror movies and she has a very high tolerance towards terror movies. For some that I consider pure crap, she always finds something positive about, but for this one she looked at me after the last scene and said "this movie is stupid. What a piece of crap".

When I watched this movie, it was rated 7.2 here. Now it's rated 6.9 but I still think this is one of the biggest pranks ever, where everyone is rating high to make other idiots watch this movie and suffer. I give it a big 1 star because I can't rate 0. If you ask for an advice: don't wast your time on this. Go watch something else!
