Warning: Remake!
18 September 2021
This is a total ripoff of Bend In The River! It reuses some of the same scenes and Audey Murphy looks like he rode out of one movie and into another. He didn't even change his clothes or horse. Ripoff!

The Roaring 20's (1960–1962)

Way Back When
24 August 2006
"The Roaring 20's" was a "must see TV" at our house way back when! I remember watching this show week after week! Dorothy Provine as "Pinky Pinkam" was a very believable character. The show had a lot of action and some really good entertainment. I can still hear Pinky singing "Someone To Watch Over Me" is a kind of sad way at the loss of a boyfriend. Donald May and Rex Reason were great as newspaper reporters, both after the affections of Miss Pinkam. There were always car chases and shoot em ups to be had as well as plenty of mysteries to be solved. This show and "The Untouchables" went hand in hand and I so wish TV Land network would realize that us "Baby Boomers" are out here waiting for our shows to turn up on their network! Many "Boomers" would also like to be able to have these shows available to us in a DVD format.

The Joey Bishop Show (1967–1969)

Just As Good As Carson
22 July 2006
Joey Bishop had a very good talk show. There was a great variety of guest and some very surprising "walk ons" by some of Joey's friends. It was also the springboard for Regis Philbin. It's pretty safe to say that Regis wouldn't be where he's at today without Joey. Memorable nights include visits by the Three Stooges with real pie fights, walk ons by Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr. Joey's wonderful monologues every night. Great music from Johnny Mann and His Merry Men. Of course, who could forget Regis Philbin's much publicized "walk off" after having trouble with ABC executives. All in all, Joey put out a very entertaining show that was just as good, if not better than Johnny Carson's at the time. I just wish we could get some of these shows on DVD.

An Entertaining "Old Time" Movie
29 March 2006
I really don't understand what some people expect when they watch an old movie like this. This one in my estimation, is light hearted and entertaining. It is a showcase for some of our greatest stars as they were just starting out. Is it their best effort? Probably not. But it is fun to watch if you don't take it too seriously. I'm awfully glad we have it around to watch. Being a fan of almost every star in it, I consider it a treasure chest of many favorites talent. W.C. Fields is wonderful through out the film. Some of his skits are hilarious! Bob Hope is so good in his role that you have to really feel sorry for his character. Of course the song "Thanks For The Memories" is forever linked to him with this film. Martha Ray is hilarious in another one of her zany roles. All in all, a very good and entertaining film to be watched over and over. A real, or reel part of history.

Whirlybirds Was The Best!
26 January 2005
"The Whirlybirds" TV show got more guys interested in flying helicopters than any other show! The Bell 47 was used in the first episodes, to be followed by the Bell 47J later. Kenneth Tobey and Craig Hill were excellent in the roles of Chuck Martin and P.T. Moore. They would always use a copter to save lives, solve crimes, or take care of business. This is one series I would LOVE to see on DVD! An awful lot of pilots would buy them as fast as they could make them, if they were of good quality! It was so much fun to watch the boys get in and out of one scrape after another. You knew they weren't the real pilots, but it was fun and games anyway!
