Quantum Leap: The Boogieman - October 31, 1964 (1990)
Horror Comes to Quantum Leap
An excellent episode with Sam leaping into a house of horrors. A handyman is killed after he falls from his ladder after Sam sees a goat pull on a rag that was tied to it. Problem is, nobody else has seen the goat or where the goat could have come from in the first place. Then an old lady friend is killed by a snake. Is his wife the killer or maybe the town sheriff? Sam has to figure this one out while more and more strange things happen. Then there's this boy named Stevie who wants to write a book. While driving a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury Sam crashes and then tells Stevie that "its almost like the car drove itself."
The Winners (1972)
One of the best ever South African movies
It is hard to believe that this movie is not available on either Video or DVD. One can only hope that somebody will find the 35mm film and convert this classic to DVD. Joe Stewardson delivers a magnificent performance as the father who by driving his family to win at all cost drives them away from him. I saw the movie 25-30 years ago but it has left such an impact on me that I'll never forget it, specially the scene where Will Maddox is running the marathon to the music and words of "My Way". There was a follow-up movie, Winners 2, but sadly as with most follow-up movies it was more of the same, trying to milk a success but didn't quiet make it. Interesting trivia about the Winners 2 is that Joe Stewardson's real son, Deon, played his son in the movie.
Ushi Says: Hi! (2001)
I sure had a good laugh
I just loved the way Wendy van Dijk confused the celebrities she was interviewing which most of the time led to hilarious misunderstandings. Best for me was where Donny Osmond just can't contain himself any longer and he literally cries from laughing. I sure enjoyed watching this DVD and had a good laugh. Other celebrities interviewed this way are Shaggy, Jerry Springer, the Weather Girls, Dennie Christian (Dutch singer), Boris Dittrich (Dutch politician), Geri Halliwell and Saskia & Serge (Dutch singing couple). Also on the DVD is 2 failed attempts of fooling the celebrities. In the first one Belgian sexologist Goedele Liekens is suspicious right from the start and in the second one Wendy is fooled in turn by a Dutch boys band.
Wendy sure is one of the best presenters on Dutch TV. She has won several awards including best TV presenter for 2000 and the past 3 years, 2003-2005.
