I admire the fact that it takes place about several decades after the events of the last Planet of The Apes movie, so it becomes it's own movie while being in the same universe.
The ape effects are terrific, the actors playing the apes really bring them to life, really showing them as more than just apes. The human characters are also good, and the scenery is a character in it's own right. When these characters go on the journey, and we the audience go on it with them. It's up there with DUNE 1 and 2, and Avatar: The Way of Water, when it comes to incredible sci-fi epics. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is right up there with those.
