Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight (2008)
Awful! Has killed a potential franchise.
With a $20 million budget, Dragonlance fans have been handed a horribly animated short 'epic' that has only one saving grace, and that is the voice work.
You've seen the trailer. Yes, the animation is substandard, no better than that of 1980's cartoon's such as Thundercats and Masters Of The Universe. Except that those TV shows didn't have a $20m budget.
The film is riddled with errors and grade B cg animation. What could have been a promising start of a new franchise has been delivered with staggering incompetent that has to be seen to be believed.
The Dungeons And Dragons licence seems to be cursed. First the atrocious 2000 film by Courtney Solomon, and now this piece of animated excrement. Only the standout 2005 film by Gerry Lively managed to capture what millions of readers and gamers enjoyed.
Do not rent or buy this film. It is simply awful.
MegaRace (1994)
One of the best multimedia games of the 90's!
One of the first games to use a CD Rom drive to access interactive constant video play footage, Megarace had (for it's time) great graphics, a razor-sharp script and a hilarious performance by Christian Erickson. What really made the game stand out for me was the sarcasm and wit from 'your Megahost'. Instead of being some by-the-numbers talking head, Lance Boyle really made the game worth playing with his comments like "Megarace: the action show were violence happens only ONCE... Every few seconds!" and "Viewers, if you are watching the repeat, please don't phone in with the answers! I hate it when they ruin the suspense!" Great stuff! As previous reviews have mentioned, the game does suffer from PC IRQ problems, which is a shame, as the sound is a major part of the game. PC owners should try and get hold of a copy of Megarace 2, which has no problems running under the likes of Windows XP. Megarace 3 is to be avoided...
