The Peter Serafinowicz Show (2007)
Brilliant!!!!! Great start for a new comedy genius!
I don't laugh out loud at comedies very often. Whether its a TV show or film I tend to enjoy and chuckle than in fits of laughter. Oh how that changed last night when I watched The Peter Serafinowicz Show. It started of gently and I enjoyed the first few sketches. As I was watching the Al Pachino Sketch came on.... I haven't cried with laughter at something for a long time but I was in bits. I won't spoil the sketch but believe me its hilarious! A great show well worth sitting down and watching on a Thurs Night.. Well Done BBC for picking up a fresh and original comedy show!!!
I am hoping the trend of exec's at TV channels continue to wade through the drivel that is on YouTube etc in order to find real gems.
Severance (2006)
Brilliant!
Just a quick comment on this movie.....saw it today and it's brilliant! A lot of fun and a great mix of humour and horror... My mates and I were in fits of laughter in places and jumping in others, it's not often that this type of movie works. I have not had this much fun at the cinema in years! I didn't even get a numb bum, which at my local cinema happens quite frequently! My friend and I came out of the movie chatting away about how good it was for at least 45 minutes.... and then every now and then we would remember another really good line or funny/scary moment!
Superbly acted, directed to perfection.
I will be telling everyone I know to go and see this movie and as soon as its out on DVD it will be an instant purchase! Go and see it, its great!
House of Wax (2005)
Horror by Numbers
Not going to go into it massively but it was below par... it was how to make a teen horror film while desperately trying to make it not quite so predictable, but failing.I think that far too many films these days are being made in a desperate attempt to fill the void of a quite frankly stagnated industry. Too many young and inventive writers and directors are not being given the opportunities to make the films that they should be making and are forced to panda to the people that pay. The large corporations are only interested in filling seats by the use of large scale marketing and the potential draw of the "hottest" stars in a film. No offence to Paris Hilton for getting a part in a film, but please don't put a lame "in joke" about her in it. Its about time that the film industries head honchos realise they need to re focus their ideals and produce thought provoking and ground breaking films back into the cinemas. Don't get me wrong, I love a good popcorn FX extravaganza but I digress, in regards to the House of Wax I have seen far worse and a far better horror films... but I am sure that I will be lured into seeing equally poor ones in the future. If you want to see some inventive death scenes (some farcical) then watch this film... just don't expect to be scared or shocked, its all been done before time and time again.
