Wrath of Man (2021)
What a pile of Crap!
We all love Jason Stratham, but even he couldn't redeem this hunk of junk. There were more loose ends and unanswered questions than the biden administration.
Joker (2019)
Pile of Convoluted Crap - Make up your own Interpretation
I watched the film on HBO last night. I hadn't read any reviews. I had no idea what the film was about.
The Positive: Joaquin Phoenix is an extraordinarily gifted actor and this piece of garbage screenplay was was a great vehicle to showcase his talent.
The Negative: Everything else. This movie is about whatever you want it to be about. What is real and what is imagined is up to you, the viewer to determine.
What a cop out.
I can envision intellectual snobs sipping their brandy and pontificating on the deeper meaning and symbolism of the film.
There is none.
The Godfather (1972)
Perhaps the Greatest Movie Ever Made!
This film is absolutely Brilliant in EVERY respect!! Characterization, Story, Plot, Script, Cinematography, Acting. The Godfather is a True cinematic Masterpiece. Bravo! If there are any holes, weaknesses or inconsistencies, I have yet to discover them. I've watched it at least 8-10 times and it blows me away every single viewing. GF2 was excellent, but not nearly as tightly written, several holes in the story that simply don't add it, but still a great film in it's own right. GF3 - very underrated indeed.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Stunningly BAD!
I can't say anything good about this movie. I wanted to like it, I expected to like it... I didn't like it. The story was pitiful, the acting was poor; it was completely predictable and formulaic. It would have helped to at least have smudge her Lipstick while she's being blasted to kingdom come in the ending fight scenes. By the way, there was no historical credibility whatsoever. The only conclusion I come to is it's fashionable to have a female lead as a super hero saving the world from 'man'kind.
The Hunger Games (2012)
Wow - How Could this have been so Popular?
There's no need to go into detail on this atrocity.
Where to even begin? No originality whatsoever and completely predictable. But if that wasn't enough of a turn-off, the whole thing was beyond ridiculous and incomprehensibly absurd. The writing is awful, the characters have no redeeming value whatsoever, did I mention this is about as realistic as a Disney Animation Movie? Wait, that's insulting to Disney animation, which at least usually has redeeming moral value.
If your goal is to be completely insulted, you've no standards whatsoever - or maybe just dropped a hit of acid - this movie is for you.
Or, perhaps I'm completely out of touch with how truly opaque is the mind of a typical 21st century teen?
Phil Spector (2013)
I Loved It!
Pacino delivers another epic performance absolutely nailing Phil Spector. Helen Mirren was great. David Mamet's writing and dialog are absolutely brilliant.
Now, I don't know about the accuracy of the piece, but it is so powerfully convincing, I could believe it to be the truth. Whether or not was irrelevant to me as the film states upfront that it is not intended to be interpreted as an absolute representation of fact. I mean, the media is more propaganda than anything else, why would one 'expect' gospel truth from a movie?
With the predominance of Shlock in today's film world, I found this to be highly entertaining, I was completely absorbed and thoroughly enjoyed the ride it took me on.
