We're the Millers (2013)
Eustace, Is That You? What Happened in Narnia?
I must say, it's a hilarious film despite those backlash from the critics. This is again like I said in my 'This is The End' review, is the film that you could watch twice or maybe more and you could still be entertained.
Aniston, like in every comedy film she's in, her performances are all the same. Despite that, she always deliver a good one, she makes her works look so easy, like without even trying. I'd like to see her step out of her comfort zone and do some dramatic role, we all want to see her standing at the Oscars stage and give us the Best Actress speech.
Poulter, Eustace is that you? It's great to see an actor 'grow' in this industry, and more of that, he's an international star now. There's a little bit cringe moment of him in this film but hey that's normal for every actor, I believe.
The cast's performance is very decent. It took 4 people to get the script done, and still it didn't create a 'perfect' film. It's safe to say, comedy films don't get enough credit and It's rare for them to be noticed at awards season. But who cares, They're all entertaining.

This Is the End (2013)
When It Comes To Apocalypse, We Can't Rely On Technology Anymore
This must be one of the best ensemble casts so far this year. It's hilarious, I can guarantee you that you'll have a blast watching this film, your time would not be wasted. This is that kind of film which you could watch it twice, it is that funny and good.
Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Rihanna, for me, definitely are the scene stealers in this film, the first two are ridiculously hilarious.
The concept of this film is simple but yet brilliant. Now we know, when it comes to apocalypse, we can't rely on technology anymore. There's one thing that keeps bugging me is that I don't know if Rogen takes this project seriously or making fun of himself in this, and I'm quite sure it's the latter.
But anyway, it's entertaining and deserved the commercial success.

Frances Ha (2012)
The Apartment The Dance The Travel The Life
I find the title is rather cheesy or brilliant. I definitely see more comedy than drama in this film. The black and white brings you back to the 70s but it's trying to remind you that it is 21st film. Personally, I don't really think the black and white necessary but hey, everyone has their own unique taste and I applaud baumbach for that decision.
I thought Baumbach's direction is brilliant, it's not corny nor cheesy, it's just there and perfect. The screenplay is near masterpiece and Gerwig's performance is really good, she and the film definitely deserve independent spirit award nods.
I'm glad it is not titled 'The Apartment', well who would be that stupid to make that decision. This film does tell you about the character's struggle to find a life in a comedy way which makes this film really special and worth watching. This is that kind of film which Roger Ebert said in his review for 'The English Patient' and I quote 'you can see this film twice - first for the questions and the second for the answers' and I absolutely feel the same way at 'Frances Ha'
7.5/10 or favorable review.

The Internship (2013)
Now We Know That Google Company Provides Free Food
Personally, I love this film, although I agree with some critics who reviewed this film have derided it for being a feature length Google commercial.
I believe that The Internship attracts some audiences to be involved with this technology thingy, and I'm sure some of them, now, are interested to work at the Google company. I mean, who doesn't? you get free food and it's fun. Even me, who isn't really into this technology thingy, wants to be part of it.
Same with other films, The Internship also has that Cliché friendship which is very predictable. I don't really have anything to say about the performances, they're all good but not that good and it didn't wow me. I thought the most standout performance in this film is Dylan O'Brien.

Notes on a Scandal (2006)
This film defines ART
I thought this is going to be a very boring film but apparently against all odds, it proved me wrong. The film and screenplay are beautifully crafted. We can't possibly argue whose performance are better between Dench and Blanchett because they both complemented each other, and it's safe to say that they delivered one of the best performances of all time.
Watching this film reminds me of Beyonce and Ali Larter's fight in 'Obsessed'. This one, though, is different, Blanchett and Dench didn't need to fight, they could just stare at each other and let the hatred and all the emotions out, that's why they both are A-List actress.
I wouldn't be able to choose between Dench and Blanchett based on their characters. Barbara (Dench) at one minute, she could be really nice and kind and easy going but at another minute, she became a selfish monster. Shelba (blanchett), she's that kind of person who will go crazy and depressed when she found out her own ugly truth. In another word, she's weak and yet she could fool you with her 'strength'. Can I just say that Philip Glass is a genius composer, I love how film composers really give their 100% effort on their works.
8/10 or positive review.

Stuck in Love (2012)
At least this film has a great soundtrack
There's nothing new or fresh about this film but there's definitely something special about the debut director, Josh Boone. He gave a promising directorial effort and so-so film for a new comer. Who am I to critic the new comer directors, I mean they all have their own unique ways. While I'm only 16 still figuring out how to be a critic legend like Roger Ebert.
There's a few laughs in this film which keeps me entertained. The cast's performances are good. I love how Kinnear is consistent on what he's doing. Lerman is always amazing, after watching the perks of being a wallflower a few months ago. I realized that Lerman is going to be a future Oscar-winner, at first I thought he's like some typical teen actors but he proved me wrong. Just by looking at Connelly's eyes, they show endless emotions, it's scary yet attractive, her eyes make the audiences want to watch her more.
I rate this film 5/10 or unfavorable.

The Kings of Summer (2013)
It's indeed kings of summer
I love the performances, screenplay, and the score. It's a coming-of-age so I could totally relate to it. Yes, sometimes parents could be really annoying but who cares, we, as teenagers have our own world and vision towards everything we see. Depression and insecurities also play huge parts in teenagers' life where most of them have committed suicide over something stupid. It's not easy being a teenager to be honest, you have this burden and pressure to better than the others, and you need to know what you wanna do in the future, if you choose the wrong direction, you're screwed.
I haven't seen Nick Robinson in any of his films yet, but I can tell that he loves to act, his performance in this film was amazing, he succeed to convey the message of being a depressed teenager. Gabriel Basso, his performance was alright but not as good as in super 8. Moises Arias, I really love his performance, he's so much fun to watch. If the Academy has a best young actor category, Arias is definitely nominated.
I rate this film 7/10 or favorable review.

The Bling Ring (2013)
It might not be the best, but definitely worth watching
We all know that Sofia Coppola is an amazing director and screenwriter. I mean, she's one of the members of The Coppola Family. Her last critical acclaimed film was 'Lost In Translation' which she received Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture at the same night. There's no doubt that she's one of the treasures of the cinema these days.
The cast's performance in this film blew me away, it's really good. Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, and Emma Watson, particularly, they know what they're doing. Let's start with Chang, personally, her performance isn't as good as Broussard and Watson's but still, she's amazing, she's a newcomer in this industry and proved to be the 'one to watch'. Broussard, his performance blew me away. It's like he's encouraging the audiences to rob houses but at the same time he inspires teenagers to be involved in film industry. Watson, where did she come from?! I mean from Harry Potter to this? I'd say wow, wow, and wow. I was totally disappeared into her character as Nicki. I think, she has convinced us that she could do anything now. She could go from a nerdy and smart girl in Harry Potter to a bad girl in The Bling Ring. If the academy is looking for young actresses to be nominated next year, I'd say Watson is on the lists of consideration.
I rate this film 7.5/10 or favorable review.

The Lifeguard (2013)
Plain Boring and Unattractive
To be honest, I thought this is going to be a nice one, well as usual, trailers fool us. The reason why I thought this is going to be nice is because Kristen Bell knows what she's doing in this industry and until now, I haven't seen anything lame from her or am I just dumb? The film is utterly tasteless and boring, I didn't feel anything, it lack of depth of emotion. It should be only 'drama' film 'not comedy-drama', because I didn't see any humor in this film, It's just a cringeworthy one.
While watching the film, I kept looking at the clock, and kept asking, 'is the film over yet?' Nevertheless, Kristen looks amazing in the swimsuit. Oh Have I mentioned the sex scene? It's just painful and awkward to see Kristen in the sex scenes, with a teenager.
Personally, I like Marmie Gummer's acting in this, I do hope she could go big in this industry like her awesome mum does, The Living Legend, Meryl Streep. Basically, Everyone knows who she is.
I rate this film 2/10 or overwhelmingly negative review. Maybe next time, Kristen.

The Big Wedding (2013)
It didn't come out as 'big' wedding
When I first saw the trailer, I thought this is going to be an amazing film and a golden globe worthy, because there's 4 Academy Award winning actors in it. Personally, what I love about this kind of romantic comedy film is the modern set.
I got the chance to see the film last night, and I expected to laugh out loud but i didn't, I was so disappointed because the film is plain boring and there's no humor in it, only a few laughs and the laughs went to those Spanish conversations only. Even the odds, I expected this film to be commercial success, receiving hundred of millions worldwide but it didn't hit $50 million. Well, I guess that's a joke, and I'm laughing at it.
If the Golden Globes is generous enough, this film could be nominated for best motion picture - comedy or musical, I mean you can ask 'The Tourist' , it received negative reviews but still it could get 3 nominations. It's just sad, isn't it.
Anyway, I rate this film 3/10 or largely negative review.

The Heat (2013)
I Rate this film 'Universal Acclaim'
The film is indeed predictable, but who cares? We have Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as the leading ladies. We realized that 2013 is pretty much a failure for films and I'm glad that this action-comedy films still get the recognition and people are willing to spend their money on it. If you got upset or sad about life, go see this film. Comedy Films are pretty much my salvation through all of these. Personally, I've never laughed so hard to a film for a while now and thanks to this film, I did again. The film and Bullock and McCarthy's performances could get nominated for the Golden Globes, Ask 'Carnage'.
We all know, Bullock is a versatile actress, she has been in action, drama, comedy, romance, and for those Sci Fi fans, be prepared to be blown away by her performance in upcoming sci fi film called 'Gravity', many says it's a fantastic film but in the end, it's the critics and audiences who decide. McCarthy, on the other hand, she received wide recognition for her work in 'Bridesmaids', she became famous overnight, she got nominated for the Oscars, BAFTA, and SAG. I think she's on the right track in this industry, people love her personality. She might not known internationally but she's taking it slowly, she'll get wider recognition eventually.
I rate this film 9/10 or universal acclaim. I just love it.
Lo imposible (2012)
Naomi Watts should have won the Oscar
I don't know where to start with this film or I'll just simply start by saying that this is one of the best films that have ever made and one of my favorites of all time. I can't and won't forget this film. This film is well written and has a fantastic cast, Naomi Watts and Tom Holland especially, their performances alone blew my mind, it's just unbelievable how great they were and the chemistry between both of them is unquestionable. This time I gotta agree with the critics, they praised Watts, Holland, and McGregor's performances, which I agree and I'm sure all of us who have watched the film agree too.
If this film was released earlier, then it wouldn't be so overlooked, I'm still upset how this film only earned 1 nomination at the Oscars, I mean, at least the Academy should nominate them for technical achievement or even Tom Holland's performance. Naomi Watts' performance is just wow..wow and wow. Personally, she should have won the prestigious Oscar that year but I think It's okay that she didn't win, I hope she's gonna have some left over votes for her performance as Princess Diana in her upcoming film 'Diana'.
I'm glad this film was commercial success and how many people loved it. I mean, how could you not love this film? It's heartbreaking and inspiring film. Anyway I love love love this film, honestly, It took me a couple days to get over my sorrows towards the film.
10/10 PERFECTION
Now Is Good (2012)
Ignore the accent, enjoy the film
Alright, where to start.....where to start? personally, I find the title of the film is quite coy, the novel called 'before i die' I think it's more suitable with that, It kinda attracts people to see the film cos it's about a dying person, most people tend to see this kind of film and it eventually turn out good for them and they're satisfied with it. But, the title doesn't really affect anything. I find this movie rather boring or interesting, Dakota Fanning's accent is all over the place but let's be honest, she's good, not all American could pull it off. She's one of the youngest to be ever nominated at SAG Award, she's been described as 'mini Meryl Streep' and has been in this industry since she was 6.
This is like another teen drama about dying person, 'My Sister's Keeper' for example, it has pretty much same plot, it's predictable. You make a wish list, fulfill them and then die, everyone knows how it ends. But if I have to choose, I'd probably go for 'My sister's Keeper'. Now Is Good has a very decent performance but it doesn't have anything 'new' or 'fresh' to deliver. Honestly, I don't quite understand why no American distributors want to pick up this film, it could do really well in US I'm sure. You have the good looking 'War Horse' breakout star Jeremy Irvine and Dakota Fanning an American as the lead role, and she's speaking British accent, what else do you want?
If you're an emotional person, this is your cup of tea and you'll need tissues standing by cos' it is a weepie film but it's still an entertainment after all. Personally, I love this film, I could totally relate to the characters, amazing performances. It's just ashamed that this film is overlooked, I'm not saying that it's awards-worthy but it is definitely box office worthy. I rate this film 8/10 or positive review.
