Anyone But You (2023)
Good Background if Folding Laundry
All the other reviews are accurate and bring up great points. The clichés, plot holes, bad acting. It has it all. But here's where it got me...
"Hey, this weekend is going to be perfect..."
"...will you please just lay off of me this weekend..."
In what world does anyone travel from the U. S. to Australia for just a weekend? It takes basically 2 days just to get there!
I keep hearing about Sydney Sweeny and I think this is the first thing I've seen her in. I don't really get it. She's not a great actress and aside from her certain aspects I'm not sure the appeal. But whatever. At least they got Bryan Brown. I highly recommend his performance in Along Came Poly if you'd like to see a decent rom com. If I were Jay Sherman I'd tag "Anyone But You" with a big old "IT STINKS!"
Guest House (2020)
WTF
This could've been a funny and fun movie but I couldn't get over the acting. I've seen better acting in student films. I think the writers have to take some of the blame. Boondock Saints was a good movie but we can all agree the dialogue wasn't great and Troy Duffy hasn't done much since then. The main male lead is probably the worst of the bunch. He made Steve-O look like a seasoned veteran actor. I'm only going to keep watching it to see/support the comedy store folks who have parts in it.
The Duchess (2020)
Good Concept; Bad Lead
I hate to be the disgruntled commenter on the internet hiding behind anonymity. I love the concept snd production of the show. I just can't get used to Kathryn's lack of acting ability. She's just not ready to be the lead and carry a show. I kept wanting a Roisin Conaty like performance and the show would've been great!
I love discovering new shows like this from the UK and I usually love them. This one missed the mark but just slightly. Still worth a watch but don't expect gold.
