Kimi no na wa. (2016)
No mistaking
I literally came here to comment on the supposed mistake in the trivia section, that one: "After Taki and Mitsuha meet on the edge of crater and Taki is left alone after end of dawn, a panoramic view shows the city's lake in its original form (before comet hits the city). It shouldn't be the case, as Taki is back to present day, where collision has occurred."
How about that it was a first indication that in fact the past was altered and the timelines were merging? I mean, it's seconds after supernatural phenomenon of their meeting and he's not thinking straight. He doesn't know what (or when) he's looking at but I know that mistakes like that are impossible in such well executed magnificent productions so it must have been intentional.
Lost Song (2018)
Extremely worth finishing
Anyone who didn't bother to watch the whole series should drop the idea of adding a missguiding review. To be honest - I wasn't hooked on it myself and after 2-3 episodes I stopped watching for a while. This is not what I do though so I continued, thankfuly. The story not only grew on me, being really good for what I initially thought it was, but also had a really really unexpected plot twist in store. This anime truly had my jaw dropping, it has all the ingredients of a good fantasy story that will have you shed a tear and cause goosebumps. Even if you're not convinced at first, just keep going as it gets better before it gets brilliant! Really satisfying watch.
The Lion King (2019)
We owe it to the original animation
It couldn't be a ground-shaking experience in the sense of showing us something new. But - it was a sentimental journey nevertheless, a beautiful re-telling. I was vary because of all the voices who claim it's too political, but I watched it with an open mind of a child and got to re-live some of fond memories from my childhood that this movie evokes. With animation we all know when we cried! With this one I cried in the opening scenes, seeing how far we've come and how it can still be valid and treasured over 20 years later.
The Lovely Bones (2009)
The lovely bones that had grown around the absence.
I can remember reading the book of Alice Sebold a while ago and whether it helps or not quite – I cannot recall much details. Apart from the fact, that I struggled to make it through the crime description even though it was not very developed. In the movie, the factual scene was only touched upon in a very gentle way, which I am grateful for, because crimes committed on children are extremely and truly disgusting. However, I can't fight the feeling that it was not the core of the plot, but only a trigger. It is a complex matter of spiritual world that the history revolves around. Perhaps, it attempts to answer one of the many rhetorical questions of all times: what does it mean to be gone for someone who is gone and for those who stay?
Speaking about differences, I can remember so very well, that in the book a main character's sister went through a rebel phase and had her hair cut short, like a boy. Also, it wasn't only a kiss that her ghost sister observed her doing, in amazement. What is more, wasn't she supposed to meet her grand-grandmother while she was stuck in her perfect world, between an earth and heaven? About the movie ending
there was some director's imaginative solutions implemented, I believe. While in the book the plot seems to be left somewhat unfinished, there is a merciful Karma giving the audience feelings of justice and relief in the movie.
Susie Salmon, like a fish. Probably the first of the Saoirse Ronan's mature creations. Saoirse won my attention in 'The Host' movie and as soon as I realised accidentally that I've seen her before in a brilliant 'Hanna' movie, I knew I would explore her achievements to date. Saoirse is Irish for 'freedom, liberty'. The actress is very likely to reappear on my screen several more times as I am currently under her spell. She obviously is talented and I expect to see her ascending in her career.
It was at least the second time, that I've seen the movie, so I lack 'a first impression'. I believe that a fresh look at things has the strongest impact. The thing which I won't forget about this movie is how some people knew or could feel, that she was still around and who was responsible for all that. This hunch, which got them searching relentlessly and kept them hanging on to the case of a missing girl until the day of redemption. Did they get their closure? One day it just came, anyway..
The Host (2013)
The Universe would be a darker place.
If one movie alone is enough to get you started on publishing reviews and arouses an urge to express yourself, then it must be extraordinary in its category. As the movie is based on the novel of the 'Twilight Saga' author, its enthusiasts could be branded the Twilight generation and suspected of being into vampires, werewolves and dark cross-species teenage love, but not necessarily.
The distinguished style of Stephenie Meyer brought to life another supernatural character. At least that is what seems to be a light-woven creature of amoeba-like shape called Wanderer, a soul. Souls in fact, are aliens who relentlessly travel through the Universe, invaders who took over the Earth, incorporeal beings on continuous quest in search for living vessels. The image seems to be similar to the one from the year 2007: 'The Invasion', starring Nicole Kidman . Invaders claim to have peaceful intentions, but at the same time they diminish the conscience of the person they are implanted in.
Humane race fights back, but becomes outnumbered by the new species and is soon to cease. The apocalypse to come can be seen, yet a wondrous individual always emerges to turn the tide. A girl, Melanie Stryder – her love, determination, perseverance and courage will change the world, which they know, the world which was lost to incapable of feeling emotions souls. What if she's strong enough not only to resist the intruder in her body but also to teach it to feel ? What if she's not the only one? A heart-warming intimate bond; touching body, mind and soul; between the human and its host expounds throughout the plot.
The journey full of love, hope, devotion and sacrifice. Naive at the times, but it doesn't decrease its value or entertainment provided, whatsoever. There is an unexpected (almost) happy-ending. Which is great, as simple as they are, we need happy-endings once in a while.
The most recognisable song of the soundtrack, speaking of 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons band, gives goose-bumps.
