Expect quirky but more
12 March 2023
I really wasn't sure how i'd take this show based on reviews and cast. I like all of them in their own rights and merits. But Wasn't sure how they'd blend with them all being much more than support cast, or comic relief.

But it works. Every branch of the shows tree blends nicely into each other. Even the "bit parts" meld nicely.

I was thrilled too see that it's already been picked up for another season. Watching season one episode eight at the moment and can tell you that only a couple of minutes in, my cheeks are already hurting.

Give this show a go and expectation free. Pleasantly surprised shoud be what you'll come away with.

Engaging
11 February 2023
Definitely engaging with a real life concept.

As an older gent where Atari was big in my time. The real life feel allows you full emerson into AI 40+ years on.

If this was available in reality today. Perhaps the desensitization of the younger generations wouldn't result in RL applications. Knowing there are true consequences to all actions, may just add reality to choices made, may stop, hinder and/or place truth to "games", then this move is an eyeopener.

Enjoyed from start to finish & probably one of the best B movies for a very long time.

Unknown cast, directions, camera play... All come together very well.

Worth 90 mins of your time. ;)

Ok time waster with no brain power needed
16 July 2022
First things first. Movie is no Caddyshack, but a solid giggle worthy 4-5. The girl playing Emily has a beautiful swing, so I looked her up & she's actually a pro (first movie) on the LPGA tour. Ranked 21 I think. Not too sure. Info was hard to find.

Anyhoo... I didn't feel as I need those 90 ish minutes back. Watch worthy.

Slowly getting there.
30 June 2022
After 4 out of only 6 episodes in. It's getting there. They're trying to open up the history line at the expense of showcasing her powers potential. Which would be fine if we had enough episodes to develop both angles.

Action sequences are well played out but the lack of her potential powers is annoying. Running on gut and reaction would be fine if we had 8 or 10 eps for her to grow in knowledge, faith & instincts.

Slowly boxing themselves in putting a lot on 2 episodes fo answers. Still... I'm hooked enough to root for another season & true super powers with control to emerge.

EDIT: Just finished the 6th & final episode. It is definitely more aimed at the younger audience, especially compared to the rest of the Marvel franchise.

I, however must say that even then, it was rather enjoyable from an old mans point of view like mine. Laidback, didn't take itself too seriously and visually, quite the unexpected. Decently high production values with purposeful camera angles the director specifically had in mind 2-3 shots in advance.

I'd like another series and will my up my rating of 8 to a solid 8.5 just for the last episode. =D.

Stick with it.
8 June 2022
As an australian, I'm unable to comment on either the factual or fictional side of this series. As a matter of fact. I believe most Americans would struggle also, as the history of Billy, from what I understand, is similar to a tree. So many branches to possible paths. Some of which have only just come to light. Whilst others, have been handed down similar to campfire stories.

Bottom line is that this whole series is a slow burner. Fact? Fiction? Or an accurate as possible doco(ish) feeling show. You can't overlook the quality of production. Everyone seems to have approached this series with their all.

The show has been rounded off nicely. Hoping they have a round 2 up their sleeves.

Orville Trek
3 June 2022
This episode felt very Orvilleish to me. Don't get me wrong. I fee like that was a good thing. There was more realism, heart, logic, emotion, bonding, character development & dare I say it... comedy in this episode.

It just felt grounded all around giving it a "full" feeling.

To be honest. I found this episode the best so far.

Gave it a 9 rating & looking forward to the next episode with impatients.

So freaking weird
8 May 2022
This show is a surprising jigsaw puzzle. It is a bit omnidirectional but with enough corners to make the journey to it's episodes last scene, entertaining.

The premise is original and dark humour spot on. It won't be for everyone. Especially those who don't get british, sarcastic, in your face type stuff.

As a matter of fact. I highly recommend Americans use subtitles seeing as you have difficulty with dialects not your own. (no offence intended).

Bottom line. If weird is one of your middle named. Give it a shot.

Unexpected
31 March 2022
Not sure why, but I was expecting a movie. Not a series. I'm glad it's the latter though because there seems to be greater detail with this than I'd ever imagined.

1st episode was back and forth so much. I can only presume there is an elongated back story that will probably take 3 episodes to get a flow going.

As a non comic book addict. I have entered this adventure wide eyed and without expectation.

So far so good. I'll give it a shot for its outstanding production aesthetics alone.

Switch off the grey matter

This is your typical female assassin movie. Nothing special, right down to its twist at the end.

Good action, average revenge style plot. No real twists n turns.

Just switch off & enjoy it for what it is.

Never a guy
10 February 2022
There are heaps of shut in movies made over the last decade. But like all the others. It seems women are the only ones suffering from agoraphobia. What? Hollywood believes men aren't affected?

Nothing new here apart from tech upgrades. Others are worth watching over this.

Very Entertaining
10 February 2022
Very entertaining movie with at least 1 door being left open for a sequel.

My only gripe, and in the fold of things, it is a little one. You do not manually shift a Humvie. You see the gas peddle and the huge arse brake peddle (indicating an automatic), yet you also see the driver manually shifting.

I know it's petty, but I don't know of a car guy alive that wouldn't be thinking about this for the last 1/2 of the movie without being at least a little peeved.

Anyhoo... overall, a decent flick. Cheers.

As an Origin movie. It does it's job.

As entertainment for 2 hours. I really struggled to stay awake for 80% of it.

I guess it couldn't live upto the hype for me...

Not too shabby
22 December 2021
They made the right decision dropping the movie idea and going for a short 6 part series.

Trying to condense this into 90-120 mins wouldn't have had any character development at all.

This gets a pass.

An avg of 4.5 isn't fair
15 December 2021
Yes it's a B grade but also indy type movie.

It's worthy of a 6/10 just for the original concept alone. Fishing for food on the edge of space. Complete with pirates. I mean... seriously? Talk about an original concept. Just nice to see something original for once, instead of a rehashed/remade or sequel for once.

Better than the average B so deserves a 6 for that alone.

Watch to make up your own mind.

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel
6 November 2021
At only 64 minutes long. The 1:41 sec trailer IS the movie. Toss in the French dialogue and this is a classic... NOT!

Soooo many things I can think of as a better time waster. Like watching paint dry!

1 star is generous.

It's a comedy... plain & simple
23 October 2021
Not once is it billed as a comedy. Action. Drama. Horror.

All take a back seat to its dark humour. It's more like Shawn of the dead than it is anything like just about everything else with a "Z" attached to it.

Go into watching this like that and you'll become void of the 90% negative comments. Do I hope there'll be a second series? I doubt it. But for now, it's seems to be a fun (ish) ride.

Took its sweet time
21 October 2021
Ironically, most complaints about tv shows, is the pace - or lack of - character development. Like others, I want to know as much backstory on the cast asap. That desire leaves only 2 possibilities. Almost everything is packed into the 1st episode leaving you dizzy and intoxicated with zero connection. Or it's drawn out over half a dozen episodes introducing everybody slow enough for us to connect. By then it's too late and we're bored.

This show met those parameters about 1/2 way through.

I was ready to walk away after 2 episodes in. But thanks to me only finding the show, & being able to binge watch the whole season 2 weeks ago. I noticed a rhythm that had me wanting more.

Slow to start? Yes... If I watched weekly, I'd probably have stopped about 4-5 in and left it at that.

Instead, I binged all 3 seasons and am very glad I did.

Script work, acting, strengthening of secondary characters roles all improved by ep6 in season 1. From that moment forward on... I was in for the ride.

For all those who gave up on season 1 before the half way mark (as I almost did), go back and give it another shot. This time binge it. Once you find its pace. It greatly improves. Cheers Kaz.

Short but sweet.

Without adding spoilers... The only thing I can say is.

That as much as I like Gerard & Frank. The real star of the show is Alexis Louder.

Her acting is on point in every scene. Even if and where the writing/direction fails.

Good time waster, if only for her performance. Faults and all.

Meh...
10 September 2021
Like others have said... I enjoyed the first half.

After that, it's as if the writers and director changed.

2nd 1/2 was all over the place. Was never an A movie, but had potential to be one.

Worth an early A. M. watch if like me, you have insomnia. Save your daylight hours for something more productive.

It's rated as less than 5 stare, and I have to agree with that rating.

Likeable characters
19 May 2021
As jbar 19 said, "Likeable characters". But that's about it. Script is all over the place.

It's as if the writer/director has dyslexia, or doesn't understand how the A to Z alphabet works. Makes shows like this hard to watch. It's as if he had the first and last scenes clearly in his head, but dropped the middle pages on the floor, not remembering their order.

Would like to see the main 2 cast in something decently written. They have potential... This movie did not.

Gave it and extra two stars for them. It's only really a 3.

Worth a look
19 May 2021
It's funny, that over the last twelve months movies that would never have been given the green light have had a chance.

This is one of those movies.

Very low budget, but worth a look. Even if it's for no other reason than it's not another zombie movie. I'm over the horror/thriller genre being 80% the same movie, just being shot from different angles.

This is no award winning masterpiece. But at least it's got a little something. Would be nice to see what they could've done with an actually decent budget.

Noot bad at all
1 April 2021
Good solid package. Acting, cinematography, story, balance, musical score... all come together seamlessly.

Only thing missing was a definitive ending. There is enough information to wrap things up 100%. But still, there was enough room for another scene or two just to round it off. If they spent 2 more minutes, I'd had rounded it off to an 8. Not enough credit given to Aussie movies these days. But not surprised really as the bulk are cheesy horrish crap.

This one is worth a watch.

Not bad, not bad at all...
10 March 2021
Ever since his spiderman days, Tom has impressed me with his professionalism and timing in certain scenes. He... to me anyway... has this presence where you wait for a line he's lingering on. The "noise" as it's called in the film takes that pause away, but his expressions don't. If anything, he looks a touch out of place. Which was just perfect given the uncontrollable nature of the si-fi aspect. Daisy, has of course, mastered the blank stare to perfection. Again, lifts the si-fi elements. Supporting cast fit very well together. I could name drop. But read the cast list yourself and I'm pretty sure you'll see a standout name or 3 that will surprise you. Having just read that this was based on a trilogy of books, (rights purchased by the studio back in 2011) I'm hoping it does well enough in profits to give us at least one spinoff. Even a tv series has potential. You'll see what I mean in the last 60 sec of the flick. I was going to rate it a 6ish. Just because of it being like nothing else atm. But bumped it to 7 because of the production team producing such a nice fit with cast & the direction keeping the pace constantly interesting. You don't really get the chance to drift off in your own thoughts because you're too busy keeping up with theirs. By no means is it a masterpiece. But you shouldn't leave the theatres feeling ripped off either. =D

Subtitles might stump you.
5 March 2021
Just like 99% of people who are going to watch this, I was also drawn in by Olga. I knew the movie was spoken in French before watching, but had no idea Olga was so fluent. I thought I'd be able to practice my language skills a bit. Usually, with movies like this. A non native speaks a little slower, has simple dialogues & the subtitles linger that fraction longer. This wasn't really the case for me. I didn't realize Olga holds dual citizenship (French/Ukrainian ) before watching. So, because I'm rustier than I thought. I found myself reading more than just some words. I almost had to read everything which took too much of the cinematography away. Such beautiful scenery I couldn't enjoy without pausing... *thank god for streaming, lol*

The movie itself was nothing special. Just your basic "how far would you go for family?" or "you've messed with the wrong bloodline (Taken)" type of thing. It's probably a 4-4.5. But Olga rounds it up to a solid 5. She has talent, that's a given. Just a shame the lead role in something other than the mainstream English speaking movies. Won't give her the coverage she deserves.

solid 6 +1
19 February 2021
I gave this an extra point thanks to 2020 being such a blowout. It is in no way anything but a decent popcorn movie.

The CGI is well done. The acting is halfway decent. The story is no brain buster. But the pace is there. The 90(ish) minutes goes past pretty quickly. Considering the last year has been the age of B-Z grade. It was refreshing to watch a time waster with that didn't take itself seriously or left you shaking your head and asking why. Just a bit of good ol' fun. =D
