Boyhood (2014)
A modern masterpiece? I think not
Oh IMDb, seriously? I trust your ratings, and always check before deciding whether to watch or not. I was not furious on my money or my time being wasted like that, but did anyone ever thought giving 8+ ratings would put this movie in the league of Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, The Lord of the Ring series, GoodFellas, Star Wars and likes, its utter disrespect and blasphemous for these great movies to put this good for nothing movie and listed and counted among them. To praise Boyhood as a masterpiece is actually a slap in the face of all those directors who put a real effort into creating works of art that have real value. Just because you took 12 years filming this doesn't mean you get to get a 99% RT and an 8.4 IMDb without deserving it.
Okay, let me see! What was this movie about? Nothing! 12 freaking years of shooting for what? What really happened there? First of all, there was no plot, no story whatsoever. It shows, look a boy was 9 playing with his sister, fighting with his sister, eating macaroni, going to bathroom, he got taller, grew his hair, he cut them back, grew them again, he's eating, going to bathroom again, drinking, kissing a girl, breaking up with a girl, going to college. Oh come on that's what kids do, they grow up right? The film which is much too long follows an unstable family and focuses on the life of Mason, a character that has absolutely no interesting characteristics whatsoever. He's not a hero, not a zero, not a lover, not a loser, not a fighter, not even a dreamer. There's nothing about this character that will pause you and let you think about it. Mr. Linklater couldn't even catch any memorable scene out of it. I appreciate his movie shooting technique but there should be more of it. Since Boyhood supposed to be a story about a boy's life, his inner world, his feelings, his dream, or his struggle growing up, his happiness/sadness but there is no depth at all. For instance, I was once a kid, now I'm grown up. I saw my life then, how my times were; my thoughts, my actions, my dreams etc. It could have been like, Mason as boy how were his thoughts, by the time he was growing up what changes he had to face in his adulthood, how he struggled or how he enjoyed, what was his dream, how he adapted with his struggling family. Instead Mr. Linklater showed some ordinary (does not mean they needs to be extraordinary) folks leading lives where nothing happened at all. This is a not a growing up story, this is certainly not a movie about teenage crisis; in fact this movie is about nothing. So that's the point? Call this 12-years-gimmick a masterpiece?! Oh come on, give me a break.
Most Welcome 2 (2014)
Sir Ananta Jalil you did it again
Where to begin? Oh yes, everything Sir Ananta Jalil does is awesome. If you ask me define awesomeness, among all other possible answers the top of them will be Sir Ananta Jalil. You know why? He can give you such an entertainment that worthy of remembrance. Mark my words fellas. If you lead a sad life and to be precise if you recently broke up from being in a relationship you must go to your nearest cinema with your friendly group and let me assure you would die laughing. You will hurt your stomach laughing your buttocks off. Because it will work as tonic for sure. But if you don't then you probably are an A-hole. Most Welcome 2 is probably second most entertaining movie after Sir Ananta Jalil's 'Nisshartho Bhalobasha: What is Love! ever made in the history of mankind. This is of course new kind of Genre. There are only two types of people. One is Sir Ananta Jalil and the rest those who follow him.
Second best romantic, comedy, action, drama, fantasy, suspense, thriller, surreal-metaphoric- anti-materialistic movie ever made. No one can come close to him; if anybody even try Sir Ananta Jalil will be furious and chop their livers out. This extraordinary film deserve Oscar in following categories: Best Actor in a Leading Role, best supporting actress, best visual effect, best sound editing, best sound mixing, best original song, best Cinematography, best costume design, best director, best film editing, best makeup and hairstyle, best adapted screenplay, best production design and of course Best picture.
Now let's get down to business. Movie starts with national anthem and right after comes boom sounds and it continues until the end. I was mentally prepared to be amazed and I got that. But had no idea surprise was waiting from the very beginning. Awesomeness of Sir Ananta Jalil and Glamour Girl Beauty Queen Her Majesty Barsha's film is inexplicable. A Must watch movie if you speak Bangla, or if you speak at all.
Their acting, dance, dialogs were beyond comparing. When Sir Ananta Jalil dances you will see an athlete exercising in the gym. Let me tell you what exactly happened there
. Well wait I'm not going to tell you!! You go and watch by yourself.
Need for Speed (2014)
Terrible than expected
Never expected to be up to that level, but straight down to the hole; oh man, I can't even imagine. What the hell that script writer was thinking??!! I am quite astonished that some people are commenting this action film with high mark!! Though I expect to believe that this trend is going to change when actual movie lovers sat through and tell you how terrible this movie was! Here my 3-stars (out of 10) is actually quite substantial.
Story is completely ridiculous!! Poor plot, there was hardly a connection from one scene to another what so ever. Adaptation of a famous video game into movie requires a lot of passion and courage. Where almost every bit was missing! You know why? Scott Waugh (The Director) has a very limited history and he was one of two script writer. 2 (only) of his films weren't even well executed.
Well acting was terrible too. Oh man, I love Aaron Paul. This dude is a great actor. But here they tried to make him speak less, slow and low tone just to make him potent. But still it was a fail. And this is what happens when you put good actors in the hand of amateur director and ridiculous storyline. Oh yes, not to mention Imogen Poots as Julia Maddon is a complete discarded of space. Her English ascent was painful. She was yelling everything, acting like she was sitting in her room trying to impress her sister's boyfriend! She was ridiculous all the way. WTF to that! Along with all these cheap acting Tobey's crews weren't any better. A pilot suddenly arrived at scene with army aerial vehicles, refueling on the go; bingo that was crap. They said they were in a damn hurry but drifting for 10 minutes on the city street just to scare an English blond, makes no sense. Then, Maverick asked for a pad to watch the race track in a prison (looked like a fake prison). Seemed like they were never a coordinated team just a bunch of clown. Michael Keaton as Monarch was acting like a sassy girl. Narrating things like a dumb ass.
Put aside all the negativity, racing scenes were descent. Camera use, visual effect was good. This movie was supposed to be a rivalry between drivers and if only the movie focuses more on this aspect instead of the irrational plot, it could've been worth watching. Beside this move is about 2 hours and that's plenty of time to make something unquestionable.
As a car lover and a huge fan of NFS this was not I expected. God save us all from this kinda mess!!
Pompeii (2014)
Such a waste of time
Watched last night. But oh my God! What the hell that Director was thinking!! Poor story line, piece of crap. Characters of the movie were written poorly. Romance were dull. Now I am wondering how the hell one of my colleague talked so much about it, told me it was very good all the way, and because of his positive interest I watched it yesterday. But bloody hell it was such a waste of time. And I learned one thing, never trust a guy with movie review who doesn't know what he is talking about!! Ending of the movie is absolutely stupid and I was relieved it ended finally and I laughed when it ended. If you want to waste your time, this is your opportunity. To be honest, the visual effects were good, but that doesn't change anything, when you have a poor story; but really, today there are so many movies with great visuals. Most of all they did not really care about the story.
