Awesome Family movie.
24 March 2024
What a great family movie. If I could give it 11 stars I would. Made me cry. It was so touching and moving. It had me at the edge of my seat all the time. The acting was superb, Mark walburg won me over.

The dog , oh that dog . The dog was the star of the movie. Make sure to take some Kleenex because you'll be crying specially toward the end of the movie.

It's one of those dog movies that will stay with you forever. Its a reminder once again why Dogs are our best friend. The loyalty a dog has exceeds any relationship that a human can have. The fact the movie is based on a true life story makes it even more special.

Great movie
27 February 2022
I don't get how this movie isn't rated higher. This movie had me on the edge of my seat all the time and it had a twist that I didn't see coming. It made me cry , sad , but with a great ending.

Any movie in which Mathew McConaughey acts can't go wrong. See it you wont be disappointed.

Awesome Family movie
19 December 2015
Let me first start by saying that now days its really hard to find a family movie that can be free of sexual scenes, profanity language that at the same time can be entertaining. I enjoyed this movie from start to finish.

My family ages, 43, 39, 7,14 watched this movie together and would watch it again. The movie is not about how Dolly got famous, but more about redemption, love and how Dolly's family despite being very poor had it all ( love, GOD, faith, moral).

It leaves a strong message and cannot wait to see it again on Christmas day, as it was announced it was a hit with 13 million viewers nationwide.

Wow..... Hard to find family movies anymore
22 August 2015
I can start by saying this movie was as good as ( The Green Mile, Life is Beautiful, Instructions not included), it made me cry towards the end.

There is no way I could give this movie less than 9/10 stars.

1. Family movie that even my 7 year old enjoyed and cried 2. It is all about faith and believing in the impossible 3. It addresses a lot about bullying 4. Even though it is long you feel engaged through all the movie 5. No profanity, sex, violence, bad language 6. It leaves a lesson and towards the end there was a final twist that I did not see it coming.

Love..Love..Loved it. I was not able to see it in theaters because my daughter got the Flu that week and I have been waiting for it to come out on DVD. Searched for it on Netflix and was not able to get it until finally I found it on VUDU.

WOW. What movie!
7 April 2014
This movie had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. I think about it twice when it comes to go see movies longer than 90 minutes. I did not feel the 2hr/20 minutes, nor was I looking at my watch at all times. We went mostly because my 13 year old was begging and since we have always gone to see with her movies like Hunger Games, The Host, Twilight ( because this is what she likes), we decided to give it a try because of the good reviews.

Well, all these positive reviews are correct. The actors are excellent and very believable, there is action, suspense, love. By no means is this movie, slow. I even sneaked my 6 year old inside because had no babysitter. It was a little strong for her, mostly for the parts in the movie in which all the people were in training. There were punches, kicks and strong scenes while they were training. That is all.

WOW Factor
31 March 2014
I really liked this movie and when I saw the actress of the movie " The notebook" as the main actress I said: I am going to like this one. I was right. Since the beginning of the movie till the end it grabbed my attention.

This movie as someone said, is about family, about love, about the things you did wrong in the past and you want to travel back in time and fix them. It leaves a beautiful message at the end, that we are all time travelers. That we have to live our day by day with all the stress it has, but also looking all the beauty around in each of our days. That even if you would have the chance to live each day of your life twice, there is nothing like living it, just once.

It moved me in every way and this is the reason why movies are done for. This is the reason why you go to a theater for. You do not go to a theater because of the visual effects or the 3D effects, you also go to be moved in some way and when a movie leaves you with that feeling of meditation or maybe going over your head over and over some of the scenes it has accomplished it's goal.

If it leaves you talking about it for a few days it means it was worth the view.

Very underrated/ better than the votes it has
31 March 2014
Let me start by saying that I give this movie 10 votes hoping the rating goes up. I think this movie deserves a 7 or 8. I have not read the book so my review is based on the movie.

I am a 38 year old woman that find myself enjoying all these types of movies since my 13 year old drags me to the theaters to see all these flicks. I can say this movie is better than I thought and even my husband enjoyed it too. It keeps you entertained from start to finish ad it does have a happy ending meaning that everyone ends happy.

It is not a movie with a message or anything ,just one of those type the teens like to see, with romance, some action and of course 2 guys fighting for over the same girl.

One of the best movies I have seen in all times
29 March 2014
I have to start by saying I am Hispanic, but do not enjoy Spanish movies unless they are outstanding. Actually the only good Spanish movies I have ever seen are from Guillermo Del Toro with " Pans Laberynth and the orphan. But this movie made me remember about the movie " Life is Beautiful/ La vida es bella".

It has humor and it is so touching. This movie makes you cry, laugh and it leaves a beautiful message at the end of all the fears we have in life and how to win the battle of life. I thought the little girl and Derbez were outstanding. At the beginning when I start seeing the movie I was like " What joke of a movie is this". But once the scenes of the little girl come in while she is potty trained, it catches me from that moment until the end.

This is not a movie for Spanish people only, it is a movie for English speakers too. As I said, it is not for the jokes it is for the message it has and for the feeling you have once left the theater. It is one of those movies that leave you thinking like for a week. I even called some family members in my country in Colombia and told them " Hey guys you have to go see this".

You will not regret seeing this movie, it is worth the 2 hours it takes.

Touching story
9 February 2014
I believe this movie is underrated. I would give it 8/10. I have not read the book so I really have nothing to compare it. The movie is Predictable, but it has a final twist at the end which I love. I love movies with a final twist at the end like Safe Haven, meant to be, the notebook and so many out there. The actors were very believable and just as others have said here its two stories in one. Two women and one man. Each story of the same man Mathew with a different woman. In one Mathew the fun guy, the one that has a child inside, the positive and happy man. That is the man Suzanne got to know. By the other side Mathew the guy that has lost his spark, quite, hard to understand, with sad eyes and with a secret inside.

This movie made me cry towards the end. I consider worth watching and do not see why someone could give it a bad review. I was entertained all the way from start to finish waiting to see what was the mystery Nicolas had in his life. Of course at the beginning you kind of figure it out but the ending reveals something not expected.

underrated movie
29 January 2014
I gave this movie 10 stars because I believe it is underrated. This movie deserves an 8 at least. The plot at the beginning might seem a little confusing and slow at some points, but the final twist at the end make it totally worth it. I cried so much in the last 15 minutes because it left me speechless. Just as good as October Baby, Safe Haven and those movies with a final twist at the end. At the beginning of the movie my husband told me a couple of times: Honey this movie is really bad. He is a Christian, but loves action movies. I told him to wait that it was supposed to deliver a good message and it was a movie with a Christian message. I thought all along the movie, that the plot was about a boy looking for his mother who had given him in adoption and oh wow was I wrong.

But then I was confronted with my own reality. It touched me deeply because even though I know that God has forgiven me for what I did in the past, I tell my husband I feel like the spirit of my baby is with me. I mean like watching me and almost living with me at home. In that last final part when he says mom, I love you, mom, I forgive you I could not stop crying. And my husband hugged me and was very sentimental because he also was part of my bad decision in the past.

One more thing, I saw this on netflix and at the end when all the screen turns black with some information about the number of abortions in the US, we were about to turn the TV off. When one last part came , so do not turn the TV off until it has really finished with the last part when they show the girl and the decision she took.

What Maise Knew , What did she know? Hum
11 January 2014
This movie was excellent from any point of view you want to see it from. It shows the reality of a divorce, the sadness of what happens when kids have to switch from one parent to another when it is shared custody, the irresponsibility of some parents and mostly it leaves a huge lesson.

The lesson is that you do not have to be the biological parent to be a parent. It shows the two sides of a story. That both parents might love their little girl, but do not know how to care for her. By the other side the ones that are not the parents do what parents are suppose to do. This movie is sad but has a happy ending. It is not that type of movie in which all the movie is about court. It just shows one scene of the court less than 1 minute. And it touched my heart because I have a 6 year old. My husband asked me at the end..... Why is is called What Maise Knew? I was like silly, because she was not dumb. She knew all along that even if her parents loved she could not take care of her, she would always say for everything OK, I am OK, That is fine. But in the inside she knew the reality of things.

That day the movie touched my husband so much that he said, let's play a parcheesi with our 6 year old. My 6 year old is always asking to play that game and we are always, later, tomorrow, on the weekend. My husband and I agreed with this movie that a healthy family is the one that is in peace and not fighting all the time, the one that has time to do a breakfast for your child, the one that has time to go pick him up from school and not send someone else to do your responsibility, the one who cares and is willing to do sacrifices. You know what I mean when the movie ends.

I recommend it because it is very touching and it is the best divorce movie I have seen in years.

Worth seeing
17 September 2013
The last part of the movie makes it totally worth it even if you do not like the rest of the movie. The movie was very good although a little slow for me at the beginning but it catches speed half way through. The last part I was biting my nails, pulling my hair, closing my eyes, and finally tears.

The movie is a drama and i would conclude saying it is about forgiving and how a heart full of anger is lost and dark but when forgives it finds itself and light comes. The movie is about 2 brothers who are split apart because of different reasons of life. They find each other and have to fight each other.

Loved it
17 September 2013
I really liked this movie. It has a little of everything, romance, comedy and a twist at the end that I did not see it coming. When I saw the cover of the movie I was like " na... It is a movie of a nursing home". But it was 9pm and I did not want to see an action, horror, thriller movie because sometimes I cannot sleep with those movies because I suffer from anxiety.

So I told my husband it had good reviews and he said lets go for it. I laughed during all the movie especially with the role of the grandpa. But as a girl I love to see those movies in which those macho guys that think they have everything figured out with girls end up finding the real love. But what really caught my heart of the movie is the final part. I thought that all the movie was about him and at the end we learn all the movie was about her with that final twist.
