The Boogens (1981)
Has more filler than any film I've ever seen.
This film is astoundingly dull and slow-paced. If you know what filler or padding is, this is what 90% of this movie is. It was obviously made by someone who wanted to make a monster movie but had to work on a tiny budget, so they barely show any scenes of an actual monster, but pad out the film with scenes of people standing around looking scared when they hear noises, or empty dialogue and conversation between characters. They should've called it The Seinfield Movie, because it feels like a movie about nothing.
Skyfall (2012)
one of the few Bonds I liked for its story more than the action
I only skimmed through some of the reviews for this films, but I was shocked to see so many bad reviews. This is probably one of the few Bonds films - since Goldfinger - where I was interested enough in the story that I didn't get impatient waiting for the actions scenes. Admittedly, I used to only like Bond films for the action, and if you compare this to some of the more recent ones, it's not that action-heavy. It does have good action, but it also has a great story - not an overly confusing one, like some Bonds do. Unlike with some Bonds, the formulaic elements (the action scenes, confronting-the-villain scene, etc.)flowed smoothly, without feeling tacked on. Skyfall is great in ways that a lot of Bond films aren't.
Nailbiter (2013)
not quite good enough to recommend
This film wasn't bad, but wasn't that good, either. Just average. On a story level, it was pretty good. It slowly drew me in, built suspense, and led up to an interesting idea. The problems were on a more technical level. The female leads often muttered their lines, making me have to turn up the volume and strain my ears to understand their dialog. Two of the villainous characters were played stiffly, with almost no personality. The film was limited in what it showed in gore, action and special effects, probably because of a limited budget. I wanted to like this film (I did enjoy parts of it), but for me its flaws marginally outweighed its strengths.
