Jeopardy! (1984)
The answer is.... FUN!
This show is fun. I really think that Alex Trebek and Johnny Gilbert make a one two tag team of longetivity. The dollar values of the old 100-500 to the 200-1000 200-1000 400-2000 really make the show more competitive and exciting when in fact. In the early days of Jeopardy!, The show really went around with really simple answers and silly questions. As the years went by, Alex grew gray hair and the contestants really showed how competitive the game can be. The most eptileptical era was a Software Engineer Ken Jennings took over in 2004 and won over $2,522,700 in his 75 appearances. Now that the show has gone really good to the show there was a whole lot of set changes. The most being the new futuristic set that they first debuted in Las Vegas in 2009 and later on would be used in the 2009-2010 season. Nonetheless, Jeopardy! is still being the #2 game show only behind Wheel of Fortune and that gives more than new meaning to watch it in where you live.
Good Day Sacramento (1995)
The alternative to The Today Show for Sacramentans
This show Good Day Sacramento competes against Today, Good Morning America and The Early Show. It is basically a variety of News, Weather, Traffic, Entertainment and a laid back version like Today but to a more local point of view. The show which stars Marianne McClary, Nick Toma, Stefanie Cruz, Julissa Ortiz, Mark S. Allen, Tina Machua, Courtney Dempsey and Cody Stark on Weekdays from 5-10 AM and on weekends with Taryn Winter Brill, Chris Burros, Anny Hong, Steve Large and Gavbe the Travel Expert guy now on from 6-10 AM. This show is the best because it provides a more local point of view from the National feed shows. In other words, this show has the feel of the Today Show but mostly competes up against KCRA 3 and now KQCA's morning newscast which airs in competition but Good Day normals wins the ratings period. So if you come to Sacramento and around the area ,try it out and see for yourself.
Deal or No Deal (2005)
The most exciting game show out there and a comeback?
When I started watching this show, I thought to myself, this could be a comeback for game shows. The result. The first powerhouse hit NBC had since Fear Factor and Millioniare back in 1999 and 2000 respectively. This game is basically played out of pure luck. It's $1,000,000 or $.01. The object, try to get the case that contains $1,000,000. The next objective is to open the 5/4/3/2/1/1/1/1 cases to see whether the dollar amount is in your case. If the number is low, the bank offer will drive the next and subsequent offer up. Next Howie gets a call from the banker to see how much money he will offer to buy back the case. If the offer stands, the player will then hit the button to confirm the deal, but if there is no deal, he will have to open the next number of cases. But, if he picks the higher amount, the next offer will go down more until the last 2 cases. When it comes to that point, the player has the option to trade the cases if he has a 2nd opinion. However, if someone turns down the best deal, they keep whatever is in the case or get whatever deal he/she receives. There were a lot of special guests on DoND, most recently, the Trumpmister stopped by to guest star on DoND to promote his Apprentice which will air after DoND on Monday nights. But there are other people that call in to say hi to the contestants and so forth but the biggest show in all is the fact that this may be a game show comeback. There have been no new game shows around especially in syndication since the 2002-03 season when Daytime Millionaire and the new dead Pyramid debuted. So this may be a sign of a comeback.
10/10 The show has potential to be an NBC hit on NBC and in syndication! Stay tuned for that!
One Tree Hill (2003)
This is one of the best shows besides the OC and Smallville they can have!
I first started to watch One Tree Hill when I bought the 1st season on DVD last year. The pilot episode got me hooked so well that I really liked the kids from Tree Hill including Lucas, Nathan, Peyton Sawyer and Haley among other. This show is the mastermind being Smallville and I really like this show hopefully it would join counterpart Smallville on the new CW network this fall. This series has some great episodes which now includes an episode with a school shooting at Tree Hill High in which one was going to commit suicide. But this series has it's ups and downs and for that I will give One Tree Hill a total of 8/10. This show is fantastic though it has it's ups and downs but it does give you a sense of morality!
Coach (1989)
Coach: The game plan!
When I first started watching Coach back in 1994-95 the show looks so promising to watch and I said I'd like to give it a shot. Well, it turns out that Coach became one of my favorite shows on TV. The first 7 seasons of Coach was set in the good old days of Minnesota and the good old Minnesota Screaming Beagles football team. The whole time they shot Coach in Minnesota, at least we saw for the first 4 seasons of Coach, we saw Hayden's daughter Kelly Fox (Played by "Point Pleasant's" Clare Carey), her boyfriend Stuart and also we saw Judy on the show. When Kelly came back in 1994, she smooched with Dauber (don't really know why), but at least it showed a lot of interest for the show. The big change was in the 1995-96 season when after 7 seasons at University of Minnesota, Hayden gets a job offer to head coach of the Orlando Breakers. In the last 2 seasons of the show, Hayden took the reigns as head Coach of the Orlando Breakers and moved out of the cabin that we saw for the 7 seasons of Coach, when they were at Orlando, the new head owner of the Breakers, Doris Sherman (Katherine Helmond) was cast and the Burleigh's Howard and Shirley were also bounded for Orlando. But for the last 2 seasons ABC slotted Coach on Saturday Nights, which is really great since I can watch it but because during the 1995-96 season ABC had one bug popular show called Drew Carey and that was why Coach dwindled after 200 episodes and 9 seasons. But the big ending to Coach was the 3 part finale "Leaving Orlando" In which the Foxes, the Burleighs, Dauber and Luther decided to retire back in Minnesota. Coach was a great show all throughout so my rating of Coach is
10/10! Great Coach game plan that goes in and out! Coach rules and is still one of my favorite shows on TV! The show now airs on the USA network and if you can't get up early to watch it, well, just Tivo it!
The Jerry Springer Show (1991)
Jerry Springer! The worst but still the most entertaining TV show in history!!!
Though the past 15 yrs. Jerry Springer is that of having a long standing reputation of THE WORST TV SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF TV!!! But I mean they tried some new twists in the show and IMO, they have made the show more appealing being it's still the trashiest but entertaining shows on TV. The Springer cam, which was introduced during the 2000-2001 season had the guilty party get busted for what they did wrong, That makes the show real washed down. Next during the 2001-02 season they had a guest on Jerry's Show praise George W. Bush (In awake of the 9/11 attacks) and everyone would chant, "USA!", "USA!", "USA!" and had the American flag backdrop over it, (Note: They do this sometimes but only when Military personnel or someone mentioning America was on the show) In the 2003-04 season, the new Stripper pole was made to look for the intelligence of the show and in the new season (2005-06) Steve took over the roles of Jerry to host the show, when Jerry wasn't around. But all in all though Trashy, racy, and downright outrageous, Jerry gets a total of.
5/10, Great guilty pleasured show whenever nothing else is around but yeah, they would do anything on the Springer show just for ratings huh?
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
One of my favorite movies when I was growing up.
This movie started all of my interests in movies all together. Who Framed Roger Rabbit stars one of my favorite stars in the name of Bob Haskins as Eddie Valiant. It also stars Charles Flesher as Roger Rabbit as well as many characters in the movie. Christopher Lloyd plays the very evil Dr. Doom and really shows it for himself. At least R.K. Marroon shows how much interest of Roger Rabbit that he can show. But anyway, The film basically outlines how R.K. Marron was murdered and someone wanted to frame Roger Rabbit and also Eddie Valiant IMO is Roger's confidante. The baby, who actually smokes and has quite an attitude helps Eddie in nabbing the person responsible for murdering R.K. Marroon. Now Roger's wife Jessica Rabbit stops by Toontown and sees what type of conspiracy. At least when she finds out that Dr. Doom is responsible for all of the chaos, Eddie tries to shut him down, so at least along the way, Benny the Cab gets hit with the Toxic waste that kills all cartoons with the DIP! We see Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit as well as Porky Pig and many more cartoon cameos. But at least in the final showdown Dr. Doom tries to use the anti-cartoon dip to melt Jessica and Roger Rabbit, Dr. Doom turns into a cartoon and tries to see how much pain that he inflicted to Eddie's murdered brother that he killed and then afterward the dip turned into Dr. Doom and thus he melted and thankfully saved Roger and his wife from being a casualty. I have the DVD version of the movie and hopefully I wish everyone to get it because it will be real good to watch!
My Wife and Kids (2000)
I just started watching repeats of the show.
I have to admit I really started watching the show at first for about 1 episode or so but now since it is on syndication everyday now it seems so funny that My Wife & Kids is is great show worth watching now that the series had been canned by ABC. The Show basically consists of Michael Kyle (Damon Wayans "In Living Color") Janet Kyle (Tisha Campbell-Martin "Martin") trying to deal with their kids Junior (George O. Gore III) and Claire (Jennifer Freeman). Though the series lasted for 5 seasons in March of 2001, My Wife & Kids seems to be a down to home show that has a lot of humor especially with an episode of which Michael takes home a slot machine to deal with how much money you have to budget. Another episode is when Jr. beats Michael in Basketball and tries to overpower his plans to have power and authority of his dad. But My Wife & Kids was a great show that deserves to be on the air more often than just 5 seasons. So I'm giving this show a total of 10/10 Super show that hopefully they can make the new episodes to bridge up for that cliffhanger last season.
Texas Justice (2001)
The best court show that sadly blew the horn.
Texas Justice has been the best court show that they would ever make. Judge Larry Joe Dourethy and Baliff William Bowers were great as each other. I really miss the cases on the show that deal with some serious cases like for example if you were involved in a car accident and you were the guilty party, you would have to show the diagram to prove your case. Another example is that when musicians are suing on Texas Justice they come out and play a little song during and after the show which is why Texas Justice is one of the best courtroom shows on TV. Though no longer in first-run syndication, Texas Justice can be seen in repeats from the 4 1/2 5 seasons the show was on the air. Though I like the show so much, it should be great when Court shows become available on DVD. Texas Justice, The Complete 1st and 2nd seasons! That would be true but I just don't see it happening anytime soon? Texas Justice get a rating of 10/10 Best court show there is to this day Texas Justice will sadly be missed (2001-2005)
Will & Grace (1998)
8 seasons and still going on strong!
I still like the fact that Will & Grace lasted for 8 seasons. I really like the fact that they made the live season premiere episode for their last season. I also like the fact that they had a lot of top notch celebrity guest stars for the show. The main Character Will (Eric McCormack) is still a great sharp guy who knows how to be wonderful as a great actor. Debra Messing is still hot and sexy as she was on Ned and Stacey but playing Grade Adler made her even more stunning than before. My personal fave of the characters is Karen Walker (Megan mullally) simply because though she has the same laughter as Kitty Forman on That '70s Show I still think that she still has the giggles of Kitty and also has the fondness of Minnie Mouse since her character is so cheeky especially when she talks to her invisible husband Stanley. And finally Jack McFarland A.K.A. "Just Jack!" I have the same excitement that comes out from this guy! I like the fact that he has the funny character of hosting a talk show OUT TV and I still think that his moments on the show. Will and Grace is sadly leaving after this season but I think that it will be ending in dignity! This show gets a total of 9/10 Great show and still will be as great as ever!
King of the Hill (1997)
Another great series!
After owning the 4 seasons of King of the Hill on DVD, it is nice to see that King of the HIll will be ending after 10 seasons. Similar to the way Friends did back in 2004. But IMO, King of the Hill would be a great series from start to finish. But what made me get into the show a lot was the fact that Mike Judge took a great concept from Beavis and Butt-Head and then make a dignified series in the form of King of the Hill. Another thing that makes KOTH interesting is that some of the stars such as Stephen Root as Bill Dautrive (I know him from his days as Mr. James on NewsRadio) and Hank/Boomhauer Mike Judge as well as Luanne (Brittany Murphy) and Bobby (Pamela S. Adlon) But some characters on the show are a bit too callused (Cotton) and Kahn (Voiced by the same as Cotton none other than NewsRadio guest star Toby Huss) and some other characters as Nancy Hicks Gribble, John Redcorn, Kahnie and Minh. Arlen, Texas can be a bit too shaky at times but believe me all the things they do around here make Texas such a great state! Just wait and see how DVD sales have been with seasons 1-4 I will be looking forward for season 5 shortly. So KOTH gets a total of 9/10 The show is great and has a lot of potential but with seasons 8-9 being quite weak at least this show deserves to get a dignified ending despite of the fact that this is their final season on Sunday Night FOX! SO KOTH I salute you!
That '70s Show (1998)
Were all alright, were all alright!.... HELLO WISCONSIN!!!!!
I like the fact that Kelso, Fez, Hyde, Jackie and Donna are still on That '70s Show being it is real sad that Topher left to do his new movies this year 2005. But IMO The show still has the magic and the actors seem to be real sharp. But IMO The show is start to get a bit old since the show has been in 1979 for about 2 seasons already. That '70s Show still has the spark has it was in the good old days of 1976-77 but I think with the new story lines the show can get me interested at least in another round of great episodes! I want to see at least the show last a decade before finally calling it quits. This show deserves a rating of 9.5/10 Great show at the beginning, a bit sluggish between but still lives up to it's name to this day! That '70s SHow, bet you can't watch just one!
24 (2001)
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.
When 24 first premiered 3 months after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, I though it was just another mediocre show, but when i started watching the 1st season with The premiere with the airplane explosion, the saving of the attempt assassination of Senator Palmer and the search of Jack's Wife & Daughter who were kidnapped by a man named Ira Gaines. Season 1 also had the gripping finale in which I found real compelling. Season 2 which takes place over a year following the tragic death of Teri Bauer, This time jack tries to stop the explosion of the CTU building and hold the person responsible for killing innocent victims. In addition Jack prevents a nuclear bomb from going off into LA killing millions of people as well as stopping retaliation of blaming the attack on another country. Jack Bauer is the man! I only started watching season 3 with the deadly virus season just now and will be able to see what happens from there. But I will wait to get season 4 as well as watch season 5 this January. 24 gets my rating of 10/10 Best show there is out there as well as opening up important issues regarding what these evil terrorists do to cause harm. 24 will be known as the best show on TV there ever was, ever is and ever will be.
EDIT: I can't wait to see when season 6 takes place with the suicide bombers trying to blow themselves up in the US, the fact is Jack Bauer will do anything to save human lives. I can't wait!!
Smallville (2001)
Smallville! Great young superman series!
When I started to watch Smallville, I thought it would just be another Superman series. But when I watched the very first episode of the series I got hooked to the show. There were some memorable moments from the shows 1st season especially the pilot episode to the episode where Clark's head coach is exposed to Krypotonite to the X-Ray episodes. I like the fact that Smallville shows the life and times going around Smallville, Kansas especially with the so called "Wall of Weird" Chloe Sullivan has written in the Smallville Torch. The series is still on for the 5th season in which Clark grows up and finally meets his maker with Lex Luthor. I like the serise and Hopefully see how it goes from here. Smallville gets a total of
9/10 great Superman series there is on the WB.
Enterprise (2001)
The best show that UPN can make.
I liked the fact that Enterprise was given a big chance to see how big the series was going to go. However Enterprise was one of the shows that has able to make the top 10 favorite shows with TV themes in them. With the fact after 4 seasons UPN canned Enterprise and recycled it into syndication, It was a great effort that UPN can make a good Star Trek series such as the 7 season Voyager and have Enterprise which has some great episodes such as "Broken Bow" the 2 hr pilot, to Shockwave, the season 1 finale/season 2 premiere, to the entire 3rd season involving the Xindi attack to the story arcs of season 4 and the final episode "These are the Voyages", it's no wonder Enterprise was a great show that got robbed of a long run. IMO, if Enterprise or some new Star Trek series should develop, they should have the chrismaticness of Captain Johnathan Archer.
Star Trek: Enterprise has a total of 9.5/10! Great series with a lot of memorable episodes!
Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
Powerful Film
I liked the fact that Michael Moore has made a great effect on what is most likely a big documentary with a bold and descriptive way to storytelling of the Bush Administration. I personally would like to give a shout out and kudos to Moore since he has done what many attention grabbing moments in this movie. From the 2000 Bush election to the terrible tragedies of 9/11, The movie itself describes what is a eclipsing event to the War in Iraq, Farenheit 9/11 is one of the movies that would put you to the absolute truth in George W. Bush's Presidency.
For this film it is getting a 10/10! Best and powerful documentary out there!
