The Son (2022)
Vert Sensitive topic
When I began this movie, I really had no idea where the story was going to go. I just saw that it was a Hugh Jackman film and wanted to see it. He's always been one of my favorite actors. This story is very personal to me because not only have I too dealt with mental illness for a long time now, but I have also lost several loved ones to suicide. My heart felt like it was being ripped from my chest. Watching this story also made me question how I have dealt with my own children at times. Now, they are all adults but one of my sons deals with depression and anxiety and there were some years during his adolescence that I really worried if he would try to hurt himself. I encourage everyone who watches this film, to hugged your children tight, constantly tell them you love them, and pay attention to them. It is so easy to get involved in life and miss little clues that are right there. But truthfully, just as it is performed in this movie, our love can prevent us from seeing the truth because we don't want to believe it. This was a very touching movie.
The Floor (2024)
Fun game show!
The Floor was a very fun and interesting game show. When I first saw it pop up ion Hulu, my husband wasn't really sure about it. But I insisted on giving it a chance and after watching the first episode, we were hooked and he agreed it was much different than he anticipated. Now, I will say if the producers are going to have a session 2, a few things should be tweaked. One issue is the is to much of a delay between when a person either gives their correct answer or passes and the next clue which we felt was a disadvantage to the contestants. The other was that we felt like some of the topics didn't really make sense with the clues. For example and this maybe a spoiler, someone is suppose to be proficient in the Simpsons. The clues were pictures of the actual actors who did voices on the Simpsons instead of showing their actual Simpson character and guessing who it was. That just seemed to make more sense. Anyway, it still was a fun show to watch with our family and of course we loved Rob Lowe!!
Yan xi gong lüe (2018)
Binge Worthy!
This drama has had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's been so good. If you enjoy loads of drama, conniving, love, fighting, beautiful costumes, Chinese period dramas, etc... then this is for you. The lead woman in this drama is amazing. I don't want to spoil anything for you but I will say she is brilliant. She's strong-willed, desperate but not so much so that she looses her mind or integrity, loyal, determined and very smart. I think it would be fair to even say she's street-smart. She reads people so well and she's very quick on her feet. So many people try to mess with her but she usually sees through their bull crap and can turn the tides on them. This is such a wonderful drama. Some people maybe frightened by the fact that's is a 70 episode drama but I tell you, it's been worth it!
Qing Shi Huang Fei (2011)
Enjoyable Chinese Drama!
I watch a lot of this types of shows. So I take great pride in my opinion because I know crap when ai see it. I will admit it started a little slow for me at first to get into the characters but now I can't stop watching it. I can't wait until the next episode. Listen, it isn't as good as The Princess Weiyoung or as The Rose of the Phoenixes. But it's a good story and has lots and lots of drama, betrayal, jealousy, pettiness, deep emotional depression, suffering, some comedy, historical Chinese culture, love, and more. The naysayers on here must not watch much of these types of shows if they are being that cruel and mean with their reviews. If you enjoy Chinese culture and these types of shows, I encourage you to watch it for yourself and you be your own judge on your experience.

War & love
I'm not sure why people have written bad reviews on this epic film. I watch a lot of Chinese & Japanese films and this is one of my favorites. The period pieces of old China and Japan are my favorites. The costumes are beautiful as well as the scenery. The story maybe fiction but it still gives insight in what the battles between kingdoms was like. The cast is remarkable and the story is great too. Yes, it is action packed. It's a story about war. But it's also about love, schemes, power, cleverness, deceitfulness, friendship & alliances. I also love the beautiful love between Tony Leung's character (Zhou Yu) and Lin Chi-ling (Xiao Quao). It's so sweet and a nice break between battles. I've watched it so many times that I don't even have to read the subtitles to follow the movie. So I encourage anyone who loves these types of films to watch Red Cliff.
Sound of Freedom (2023)
God's Children Are For Sale!
This was such a powerful message. And a message that needs to get out. This movie was really well done. My son is in the film industry and said it was put together so well. I really encourage people to watch this movie and support the movement to save the children who have been sold into slavery. This is one of those movies that you know going in that it's going to be emotional and tough to watch. But I'm so grateful that Tim Ballard was so brave and trusted in God and believed in HOPE in order to put his own life on the line to save so many children. Jim Caveziel is one of my favorite actors. For many reasons but the most important reason is the man lives and breathes for God. I have enjoyed every movie that I've watched him in. He did an amazing job and I honestly felt like he was speaking directly to me when he's expressing his heartfelt feelings in the movie. This was a very moving film and I'm very glad that God made sure Tim's message got out!
Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022)
The Lost Princess
First of all let me just say right now, Naomi is amazing & brilliant in the movie. I've never heard someone who could sing like Whitney more. There are so many negative comments posted here and I think people are just being difficult. It's hard to put someone's secrets out there, especially when the person is no longer with us to provide any other context. I've always loved Whitney! The bisexual stuff was new to me and I'm sure to many other fans. I think the biopic does a good enough job in showing how a one of a kind beautiful person & singer who felt controlled & trapped most of her life. It appears that everyone was so caught up with her being a perfect performer that they didn't take time to notice a woman who was hurting. She was depressed. Her daddy did her wrong. He pushed her to be perfect and then was having an affair on the side and messing around with her money. The poor thing felt like everyone was taking advantage of her talent. Bobby cheating on her broke her as well. It's no wonder she turned to drugs to escape reality. She gave everything she had and the people in her life just continued to pick and pick and pick her away. This filmed showed everything. I'm not really sure how it could have been done better. If any of these nitpickers think it could be better, than I think you should put your money where your mouth is and go for it. Make one yourself and try to make it better. Whitney Houston deserves her true story to be told. She was a treasure we didn't take care of. This movie did exactly what I wanted to. It told her life's story.
Noah (2014)
Terrible
I watched this when it first came out and it was terrible. There were only a few things that were accurate to the truth and scripture. The names of Noah and his children and building an ark. The rest is so messed up. I'm scratching my head in complete confusion asking what Bible did the writer & director read to get there ideas for the film. What a wasted opportunity to tell a wonderful story on beginnings, faithfulness, obedience, love, & hope. If you take out the biblical aspect I guess it could be a decoy film. It's definitely not scriptural. I seriously don't understand why the creators of this film couldn't have just stuck to the Word of God.
Station 19 (2018)
Disappointed
I wanted to love this show so much because I'm a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy. I thought it was good in the beginning but then after Covid happened, the show began to get so political that I couldn't watch it anymore. The show focused more on race, Covid, & sexuality rather than a firefighting show. It got completely ridiculous. I agree with so many of the reviews that have been posted. It's just a shame because the show could have been really good. I love Chicago Fire. I watch tv shows & movies to get away from reality a little bit. I don't need to be preached to politically and feel like untrue narratives are being told & I don't need that.
Next Level Chef (2022)
Better than I expected
So when the show started, I wasn't sure I liked it. I actually had given the show a 5 after the first couple episodes. However, the show has gotten better and therefore I changed my rating to a 7. I've really enjoyed this sweet, caring, supportive & encouraging side of Chef Gordon! I love him so much. I watch Hell Kitchen & MasterChef. I love the craziness & tension on Hell's Kitchen. But he seems so different on this show and it's kind of refreshing.
Peacemaker (2022)
Garbage
This is a complete waste of time! Why? Seriously why if all characters to give a spin off... I couldn't even finish the first episode because it was so bad.
A Star Is Born (2018)
Heartfelt Moving Picture
This picture blew me away. Bradley & Lady Gaga did such an amazing job. The feelings and strong emotions that are experienced by the two was captivating. I left the movie feeling a little numb because I was hoping Jack wasn't going to do what he need up doing. However, real people deal with depression, self doubt, confidence, alcoholism, and addiction and to watch how the movie played out touched so many people. Anybody, who thinks otherwise can't appreciate the story Bradley Cooper was sharing with the world. Well done Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper.
