Prometheus (I) (2012)

Brilliant movie

7 years after I first saw Prometheus... all I can say is that it feels even better than the first time. I saw it at least 6 times already. Yes, there are some flaws in the dialogues... but the movie itself is so thought provoquing, that simply washes away all sci-fi movies of the last decade. Maybe Interstellar is there with this one, but I can't really compare them since they are so different. After seeing Alien Covenant, I was so dissappointed that I saw Prometheus right away another 2 times. I just hope Ridley gets his another 2 movies to finalize the concept of his engineers. This is what sets the movie appart from other Alien movies. Not the action, not the gore, not anything else. Just the fundamental questions it puts on the table: who made us, why were we made, who made the engineers etc.

In time, this movie will get the recognition it deserves. It already is better seen than 5 years ago.

I'll have another go at Prometheus. It simply is awesome.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Disappointing from an European point of view

If I were an American, then this movie would have filled my heart with patriotism and hope. But it's too much American dream to take in for me. I realized that the Batman trilogy was made great because of the Joker. That's it... the Joker deserved an Oscar for the role in The Dark Knight. Although the last movie continues the ideas from the predecessor, it fails by giving too much American stuff to take in for a neutral spectator. Too many messages of "This great country of ours will rise again blah blah blah". Action wise... Nolan delivers again, but the Catwoman idea is sometimes pathetic. Conclusion... nowhere near of the quality of "The Dark Knight". I watched it just to fulfill my desire to watch the whole trilogy. Good with some popcorn or chips, but nothing more.

Good movie

I don't know why most of the people around here complain that much about the scientists on the ship having questionable abilities. All you guys do is compare with Alien... but come on... those guys in Alien were technicians and they didn't do anything better than these guys in Prometheus. Just give me and this movie a break with your exaggerated critics and follow the main idea of the movie... which is brilliant. I didn't like that Charlie guy either... too fancy and full of himself for a scientist. They took their helmets off... omg omg what about the bacteria there etc etc... come on give it a break. Just let the movie be! I'm not religious at all... but what is wrong in the idea that we were engineered by others? What is wrong in the main character saying those last words at the end about our lord Jesus? It was her feeling, her opinion! Best sci-fi movie of the last decade from my part. All you guys trashing this movie... go and enjoy super-hero crap and transformers crap. This is a proper sci-fi movie with a brilliant story. Too bad the movies was only 2h. I gave it 9 out of 10 because the story went too fast. The movie needed 1h more at least to let me enjoy it!

Hearts in Atlantis (2001)

Highly emotional movie

This was the best movie I've seen since Jacob's Ladder. Everything is put together, starting with really strong acting and continuing with really beautiful filming of some scenes. This movie is underrated, but I'm not surprised. Not everybody will appreciate this piece of art. As some other guy commented here, this movie goes well alongside American Beauty or the Green Mile. This is what movies should be about... making you feel things, identify with the story/characters, it should be about emotions. A really piece of art movie. I give it 10/10. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. Simply beautiful.

Impressive Elisha Cuthbert

Even if the movie doesn't start that well, with the acting really unconvincing, it gathers quality in the second part. I think it is quite underrated, maybe 9/10 it's quite generous of me, but I must admit that the park scene is just beautiful. And the way that Elisha Cuthbert is dressed and how well she plays that scene made me more generous to a movie that, being objective, I would rate 7/10. It is a rare movie of Elisha in which she has a really strong role, and it's not a highschool movie, or a horror movie. I think this lady can bring so much more out of her talent. Also Jesse Bradford is not the best choice for this role, but nonetheless the storyline is well written. I must admit I didn't see the originalmovie, but still with the bad U.S.A style of romantic movie, I really liked it, and I would recommend it to anybody who is fascinated by the beautiful face of Elisha Cuthbert and who goes into this types of movies.
