Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024– )

Reviews so funny here
3 February 2024
These are the ratings I'd expect if someone told fans of Pen15 or Atlanta to watch the original movie. And no disrespect to Brad who is one of the greatest actors ever and in many exceptional movies, even the Mr &Mrs Smith movie wasn't that bad for what it was, just not something I'd watch a remake of. This was advertised so hard as a remake, which is a shame. Hopefully people who are familiar with the works of the two leads will know better and give it a chance. I like the anthology feel where there were different new characters played by multiple exceptional actors (Perlman, posey, even Michaela coel!!), some of which come back throughout. It was left a little open ended, maybe they'll come back for round 2!

Nostalgic

Granted I could watch hours of Rosa Salazar riding in that car listening to Folk Implosion and Phil Collins, or Keener going around with gorgeous siamese manipulating people with bizarre conversations so perhaps a bit bias but...I found this refreshing and nostalgic for late 90s early 2000s cinema, like stranger things to the 80s. Enjoy the ride.

Why was this cancelled? Someone else bring it back
17 March 2021
What a cute show that I never heard of until Hulu picked it up and put it in my list. I've watched almost every decent Showtime show and never even knew this existed, they did 0 advertising. Someone else should pick it back up. We are bored in the pandemic and need new shows....this is shot indoors with a few people at a time per scene (sans audience footage that could be historic). Seems like a low-budget, COVID friendly no-brainer!

This show is a gem...

..And not offensive at all. Well, maybe to Southern suburban stadium-church Christians, but so is most everything these days. They did a great job with with this show - well-written, well acted comedy/dramedy/fantasy. Actually deals with a lot of issues but in a light and entertaining way. I live in Atlanta (city) and Baby-John-Ritter's character is the the self-actualized version of my husband's sub-urban attorney. Excellent job, Dallas Roberts (his real name ;), bringing this character to life.

what a cute and refreshing comedy from an outstanding cast
19 January 2018
I happened to stumble upon this on Netflix and gave it a try since I love the cast...and animals ;) So cute and refreshing, no baggage, just light fun with amazing performances from Steve and Justin (Shameless guys). Kate sings a little, always a treat. Sean is typical Sean (RIP Bob), and then animal aspect/portrayal is not perfect but sweet. All over good streaming flick.

Ozark (2017–2022)

yes, Bateman

Proving to be as great a director as he is an actor. Perhaps I'm biased due to long time obsession with Laura, but I thought it was tremendously well made in that all of the scenarios are over the top and egregious, and if it had not been put together so meticulously or acted so well, it would have all come apart. I've enjoyed watching Bateman grow as an actor over the years and always suspected he has a touch of the OCD. It really shows through in Ozark, but in a good way, and I hope to see much more of this show and his work in the future. I hope the team gets nominated for something this year.

sad to see it go

Too bad that this was canceled. It was really just getting it's legs in season 2. Always with the Duplass brothers a bit of a slow burn....took a season to get into the characters, but I had high hopes for future seasons. Really hoping Netflix or Amazon will pick it up like they've done for other shows to give it another chance. Not sure it was ever meant for HBO....maybe Showtime even would have been a better fit. Great cast and fun, creative stories each episode. I don't even have kids but didn't mind that much of the show was centered around parenting because the characters were strong and ring true to their age group and genre. I hope that the energy is resurrected in another Duplass project or that someone else picks it up.
