La graine et le mulet (2007)
Far from being the best French film of 2007
Advertised as the best French Film of 2007.Sorry to disagree. While it has some very good actors, the script is repetitive, the director does not know editing. Some scenes are overly too long. Some don't make sense, like when the father is chasing kids who stole his motorcycle by running after them round and round and round. Dialogues are far too long, repetitive monologues or discussions with little sense. One could cut the film to half the length which would improve it enormously. It displays poor people's life sympathetically, this is probably the only positive comment I can come up with. I understand that I have to write minimum 10 lines to be able to post this comment.Let me comment on this. This is one of the nonsense requirements of recent times on IMDb.It is in line with some newspaper articles comments on TV, Internet articles, where if one reads the first paragraph, the rest is simple repetition. In other words, it seems to be in line with the direction and script of this film I am commenting on. It encourages bla... bla... bla instead of commonsense comments well defined and brief,to the point where people read it and get the meaning and the essence of what is said.
Je vous salue, Marie (1985)
Is this a good film of Godard?
The best part of this film is the music. It is Classic. Dvorak Cello Concerto and Bach Chaconne is well shuffled even before IPod existed. So are the shots. Shuffled, repetitive, boring. The story? Confusing. Religion has nothing to do with my comments. I am an Atheist. While the actress playing the Virgin has a beautiful body and the naked shots are most enjoyable, the script does not allow her to utter an intelligent or intelligible sentence. The other actors are not convincing either. They are not real, and in that respect the virgin birth could be acceptable in the environment as presented. Could this film be regarded as a great director's mistake?

The Brown Bunny (2003)
This is probably one of the worse film I have seen in the past 50 years
Vincent Gallo According to the credits is a man with many ( probably too many ) talents. While I haven't seen any of his other films, this one lacks a, direction. b, editing c, cinematography d, intelligent script. Vincent Gallo as an actor acts well as a depressed person, but that is all. When he brakes down with his former wife or girlfriend he utters a sound which could be credited to a whingeing cat, but hardly to a man which I suppose he represents. The repetitiousness of the scenes, his portraits in the mirrors show that as a director he admires himself as an actor, but I do not consider this as a positive.
When I watched the first scene for about 15 minutes which is a motor circle race, I thought I put in the wrong DVD about motor cycle racing. I wished that I switched it off at that point. The rest of the film I watched for curiosity only. The sex scene sticks out from the film, like his prick from his trousers. It would fit into a porno film, but not what is considered an art-house film.
Just because there is hardly an intelligent sentence in the script, and luckily there are only a few sentences in the film, it does not make it a work of art. This is probably one of the worse films I have seen in the past 50 years
