Give me a break.....
30 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Plane flying below the level of stop signs ? harrelson knowing the truth ? harrelson would make a 'good' manson is the _first thing I thought, not that I'd watch anything to do with that lunatic (manson). President abandons the country and won't get on Air Force One ? 9.3 earthquake in Washington, DC when no significant earthquake has ever hit the DC area ?

China as a refuge site when China is one of the most geologically active countries on the planet ? Are the writers/producers of this tripe Americans or sino-commie propagandists ? Too many special effects, _way too little scientific substance. Cusack 'miraculously' avoids certain death more times in two hours than all the failed suicide bombers on the planet do in a year. Give youself a break and rent something credible.

huh ?

Warning: Spoilers
An _arrogrant DA (foxx) plays political cards after a man (Butler) is beaten and stabbed and tied up and forced to watch his wife and daughter being murdered. Foxx then gives the _real murderer, (Darby), a deal for testifying against the partner, Josh Stewart(who is a fine actor btw), sentencing him to being executed, which happens with a twist.

The game is _now on and Butler (Clyde) outsmarts, outplays and out- thinks Philadelphia's 'finest' from the street cop to the mayor.

Suddenly, near the end, foxx and company 'discover' all this information and evidence which allows them to thwart Clyde's final ploy after he's played them for the entire movie.

I turned it off rather than watch the ending after that last _lame development.

Save your pennies movie fans, and order a different one.

did this movie make it to theaters ?
22 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Who did the casting for this fiasco ?

Costner is _not an 'anti-hero', Hurt is just older and heavier.

Who thought dane cook could act to begin with , with his fat, acne pitted face, fake beard, and dumb expressions ?

panabaker only knows how to play the 'child from hell' as evidenced in the TV series 'Shark' and now she's the 'pregnant' daughter in this disjointed supposed 'drama' ?

Hellgenberger and Moore are afterthoughts, speaking lame lines in the vignettes they appear in, as if the director _suddenly remembered they were part of the cast.

One other thing that's a _red _flag warning of a poor presentation is the green tinted/ultra shaded camera work.

One other thing.....serial killers aren't _smart enough to develop intricate plots and relationships.

sepia filters
28 July 2008
I find it _extremely difficult to watch a movie or TV program filmed in false color.

The 'sepia' tint of 'journey to the end of the night' _immediately convinced me I wasn't interested in the plot.

When I walk out into my backyard every morning I see 'roy g. biv' colors provided by the Sun and expect to see those same natural colors in everything I view.

I think its a toss-up between CSI and the 'Matrix' movies for the advent of 'green' tinted filming which apparently provided the 'idea' for the red-shifted 'sepia' distraction in 'journey'.

It doesn't matter which filters directors and film editors use, its _still not real.

Raise your hand if you wondered why CSI's in Las Vegas walked out of _broad daylight into a house (crime scene) and _immediately turned on their _ever available hand-held flashlights rather than turn on the lights in a room ,or even _better, raise the shades.

Trying to set 'mood' with false color and 'shading' should have criminal charges attached.

ooh wee, ooh wee

Warning: Spoilers
I've seen a _lot of great and good movies.

Notwithstanding Laura Linney's and Richard Gere's performances, 'the Mothman Prophecies' is not in those categories.

There may be some people in Nebraska (and elsewhere) who believe (or want to) in the outre'.

There's never been any scientific study to 'back up' outrageous claims by people like Keel, the guy who wrote the 'Mothman Prophecies'.

About the _only factual thing in the movie is that a bridge collapsed in West Virginia.

The NTSB said the bridge failure was due to age and poor maintenance.

Imagine that.....

The Rainmaker (1997)
applause
15 October 2004
The Raimaker was a _great film, adherent to the book, even to the deposition of Donny Ray Black being moved from his bedroom to the backyard and his father getting into his old Ford to drink his gin.

Of course I seldom watch a movie without reading the book first as that gives me insight into the innuendos presented, and to see how closely the movie follows the book.

For those viewers who don't like to read I _still think the movie has continuity and an easy to follow plot development.

Very good entertainment, especially if you like Matt Damon, Danny Devito, John Voight and the delight of Virginia Madsen simply being on screen.
