Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (2020)
Demystifying a monster
This documentary is a fascinating look at Ted Bundy as a humanbeing as seen through the eyes of his wife and brother and other people who new him.
For me this is a new perspective that brings him closer to real life as we all live it.
It makes his story even more gruesome and interesting.
The Mole: Undercover in North Korea (2020)
An unbelievable story
A inside look in Nort Korea's desperate attempts to make money on international drug and weapons deals.
The lack of scrutiny on the part of the North Korean officials in verifying the identity of the mole and especially the actor makes it hard to believe this really happened. But it seem to be real events that we see unfolding judging on the endless amount of footage of the meetings and Brugger's history of documentary making.
It's more thrumming than any Bond movie.
The Grudge (2019)
Boring scares throughout
This movie presents horror as a chain of scare moments. They become predictable and boring. The acting is good most of the time. Story is entertaining also but the artistic interpretation of the scary elements is just poorly chosen.
Hereditary (2018)
Everything I ever wanted in a horrormovie
It's just....amazing. I didn't sleep well for three days after watching this.
Ari Aster really created a genre of it's own.
It takes the viewer seriously and gives you a psychological drama drenched in the most awful and dark horrors you could imagine.
Midsommar (2019)
Ready for a WTF?! moment that lasts two and a half hours?
Ari Aster gives us this expertly played out nightmarish dream of a drama. Pregnant with ancient symbolism Florence Pugh goes through a catharsis after a deep personal crisis.
There is no comparison to the oeuvre of Ari Aster. It deepens the horror genre in a very exciting way. It takes my intelligence seriously and does it's best to touch me emotionally. And it succeeds!
Uncut Gems (2019)
Delicious chaotic superficiality
There's no time to breathe as Adam Sandler stumbles and falls through his happiness chasing tornado of a life.
At the same time touching and irritating this adult toddler by the name of Howard takes you on a desperate trip chasing final fulfillment. Will he reach it?
