Very slow, never drawn into the characters personalities and the story didn't tie together
10 March 2014
This movie was a big disappointment and after seeing it, we didn't think it deserved the Oscar for Best Picture. Too many pointless silences when they could have spent the time developing the characters and their relationships with each other. What about Solomon's family? The "whites" in the movie over acted and it was like watching a high school play. The accents were ridiculous, especially Brad Pitt's one note, overdone "Southern accent" when he supposed to be Canadian. His dialog with Michael Fassbender's slave owner character was absurd and unrealistic. His hero stand would not have been tolerated. Frankly, I came away from this finding it hard to believe this was actually written by a slave. Too many pieces don't fit together of a survivor's account.

"I want this kid out of my jail", Warden Caruso
27 October 2013
We came across this on Netflix and finally watched it. It's worth a watch for the laughs. Martin Sheen is over the top with his acting, of course. Emilio tried to be a tough guy but this was no Mighty Ducks. In the drunken driving scene (with the hood up), he amazingly drives on the sidewalk and makes it back to the street until he hits a police car at a donut shop.

Warden Caruso has a humorous soft spot for Danny. He just wants this kid out of his jail and there is nothing he can do. That is except carry him out of solitary confinement when the guards refuse to call him at home at Danny's request. Danny Boy is losing his mind after weeks in his own cell. If only he hadn't talked to the man hitting on him in his own holding cell through the bars. Now his life has turned into a month long nightmare.

About Sunny (2011)

Excellent acting and heartbreaking

This movie was realistic and not sugar coated. It's about a single mother's struggle to take care of her child, trying to earn a respectable living. There are scenes that make you wonder if she has always done that or is considering taking an easier, quick money route but she continues to work low paying mainstream jobs. She tries her best to be a good mother and take care of her daughter, despite her fears and frustrations.

Some people may find it easy to judge this woman, when she starts to breakdown. Her character does some things that may seem unsympathetic but strongly comes through as a real person. She is on her own, with no one to help her and does love her child.

The little girl's acting is the best I have ever seen for a child actor. She doesn't go over the top with coaching and doesn't even seem like she is acting.

Vavavoom!
26 October 2013
One man's seduction seduced us into wanting to watch this movie again and again. Not to make light of a terrible drug to be addicted to, but this movie is full of laughs. It was strange seeing Mrs. Caroline Ingalls(Karen Grassle)married to a junkie.

Dennis Weaver was awesome as the angry dork gone bad. This was Breaking Bad before it's time. Jeffrey Tambor was hilarious as his dentist buddy hooked on coke,"VAVAVOOM"! James Spader gives good a tongue in cheek performance in one of his first movies.

This is a pure 80's cheesy made for TV movie that brings the point home.

It's worth a watch. Just say no to drugs!

Lame

The only reason this movie is getting 2 stars is for Elizabeth Banks and Ray Liotta. They both make comedies so it wasn't as pathetic for them to be in this as Laura Linney and Tobey Maguire. Maguire as the main character was unbelievable as a man that beautiful women throw themselves at. He has zero personality and let's face it, he's not a real looker.

The first 45 min. to and hour were about nothing but raccoons in his yard, or it seemed like it anyway. It was slow, stupid and boring. My husband fell asleep and I was glad when it was over.

Don't waste your time because of names in this piece of fluff.

Terrible waste of time.

We gave this movie a chance because we felt sorry for Tatum O'Neill trying to make a comeback. But we were let down. Her speaking parts were few and far between and the plot was non-existent. The whole story is she is the crazy sister that just got out of mental hospital. Children in this movie were beyond annoying and pointless to the film. The trailer made it seem like a thriller but it could not have been less.

We regret the $6 dollars we paid to watch this on pay-per-view. This movie reminds me of Oprah Winfrey's Beloved, an unintentional comedy because it is so ridiculous with over the top acting and a stupid story.

The Collection (II) (2012)

Sequel was gorier
8 February 2013
I really did enjoy The Collector which had a good cast and crew so when I went to see The Collection I wasn't expecting it too be that good. To be quite honest I really did enjoy the sequel and thought it had good gore, good characters and acting, even the CGI was decent enough. I liked the setting of it too as well. I think it was a very good sequel and in some aspects better than the original in some ways. The lead actor was very good and I liked him in both films. I especially liked how the sequel connected to the original and how the character development evolved too of the new characters. If I must say imho I really did like the sequel better than the original. 8 out of 10 stars.
