This is not the original, nor should it really be expected to be. Reboots and remakes never really hold up to the classics they're based on. But this show is really good, with the exception of the first 2 episodes which really tries to overexplain the backstory of the original series and setting up the story while completely neglecting the characters. Maybe because I'm a big fan of the original I feel it's not needed but considering the original also didn't try to explain it's backstory I don't think it was really required. And the other big issue, which is partially solved by episode 5, is the character being rather flat. All except Ian, which really serves no function beyond being stereotypically gay (offensively so) to the point of cringe in every scene he's in and only spouts some techno-babble which could be done by the other tech wiz in the show (and she is relevant to the story). Killing of Ian would allow the show to develop it's other characters more and cut down on the dead air he creates.
The only other issue is rather minor, which is that the tech doesn't remotely look futuristic while the original it looked basically alien, especially considering the original tech does make an appearance in the show it's quite silly that tech from (in universe) ~20 years ago looks more futuristic than revisions that came after.
As of writing it's 5 episodes in and it's getting much better after the first 2/3 episodes. I hope it continues that way and they kill of Ian quickly.
