Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Star Nothing
No imagination, invaded with Star Wars ticks (as another user wrote), no spirit of the real Star Trek that we love. Even if is suppose to happen some years before Capitan Kirk looks far modern that the last one. Even klingons looks more "evolved" than never before, the ship, the crew, everything. And everything is wrong, dark and dull.
Captain role was pathetic in the first two chapters becoming a kind of puppet of the "number one" character (what a beautiful woman!!) and then you can guess what follow.
Let's give a chance tough.
I gave a chance and it happens something that I never thinks may happen to me: I give up after 15' to see the third episode. Number One with that face "I know better that anyone else and I don't care about the rest of the galaxy, I'm the mambo queen, no captain can stop me" disgusted me.
Can't stand it.
El ciudadano ilustre (2016)
Oscar Martinez...
Just saw the film with Osacr Martinez as a main character. And I found his perform really bad, for moments with a way to speak annoying and not credible at all.
In the other hand I loved the character of Dady Brieva (Antonio), which was more difficult and subtle. I know that Oscar Martinez have a reputation as a good actor but I also saw him working in Wild Tales with the same impression.
About the film itself I loved it because it was truly moving in the sens of the all kind of stereotypes that you can see and suffer when you are outside my country, Argentina. Plus with the particular character of the writer, full of himself and denying all his history. Worth to see it.
Arrival (2016)
Something missing
I do not understand the good critics that I see here. Slow movie, plenty of common places in a sci-fi movies that I didn't expect to see in 2016/2017 even if is not a pure sci-fi movie (don't even know where to put it, that's why I thing this can be a spoiler): the classical chaos with people running on the roads, killing themselves to survive to no one know what and so. Since 50's we see same scenario.
When the movie started I ask to my girlfriend to wake me up after quite some minutes when the movie effectively starts. I was waiting to see something with a sense during the endless film but I can't. Just when the octopus appears I opened my eyes with some expectations. But no. A lovely lady understood in a short time (and also the octopus) what to say and how. An advanced civilization need for a primitive one (us, of course) how to survive in a 3000 years (!) and that's why they were here. Well...in the end of the day it's an emotional sci-fi film.
I don't understood the message of the film and what the writer/director wanted to say. Unnecessary slow with pretentious to be emotional it was a waste of good actors (in fact they saved the film in some point) trying to make real a lot of unreal circumstances.
Well, try and share.
Fury (2014)
One of the worst war movies I ever seen
You would expect see war films like this a few years later once the war war over, but made a crap like this in 2014 is disrespectful to the public. I love war films and for the first time in my life I was going to stop watching the film. Unbelievable.
Even without analyze the incredible amount of goofs that the movie have everything was wrong, indecent amount of pointless sentimentalism, a guy that needs more than 3 bullets for a German sniper, one out of the 200 of the SS battalion unable to kill a crew from an "Ronson" tank and, finally...the SS soldier who find the American soldier under the tank and forgive him!. An act of redemption to the German SS people...
Mariage à Mendoza (2012)
Something wrong
The film name it's "Mariage à Mendoza" (Wedding at Mendoza). Mendoza it's a state which it's more or less located in the same level as Santiago de Chile, in the other side of the Andes. But the wedding happens in Salta, which is in the north-west of Argentina, more or less in the border with Bolivia. So, more or less 1200km between them.
Even, in one part of the film someone says "we going to go to the Calchaqui's Valley, in Mendoza". It's like say "we going to go to the Niagara falls, in New York".
I don't know if it's some kind of joke or just geographical ignorance. Perhaps my french it is not good enough to catch some quibbling, but I don't thing so...
The rest of the film it's...I don't know.
Gordos (2009)
Wrong title...
I don't get the need that some Spanish films have to show people having sex in any circumstances, people in a bathroom or things like that. I'm not a puritan at all and I'm not making a point about. I believe that this movie is not about fat people or not, it's about people with guiltiness and prejudices about their sexual life.
Sometimes I have the conviction that some Spanish directors are in their preadolescence age so they take any subject and make in pass through the "sex filter" . They need to show people having sex because...I don't know.
The movie itself it's OK, acting work it's just magnificent but I'm still believe that the title doesn't match what the director wanted to show. In fact I don't really know yet what the director wanted to show. I have the impression that he made a script which basically was "ok guys, let's show how different average people reacts in different circumstances and reflect that in they sexual life. We will use as an alibi fatness, but in fact it will be a movie about the sexual life of normal people".
Forgettable.
Chicago Overcoat (2009)
Disappointing
Apparently someone had the idea that having two old guys, each one in a different side of the law, one of them being Frank Vincent (great in his role) and some mafia stuff was enough to have a decent film. Well, it wasn't. It's a pity because with a better script and better acting work in some cases could work but with the bunch of clichés, some nonsenses dialogs and that awful old cop altogether made a depressive cocktail. Some scenes are simply embarrassing to watch, like the one between Lou and Danny. Perhaps it' about the acting difference, perhaps with a more even set of actors could work. It's a pity in any case.
If you are bored without nothing else better to do or see, OK. Otherwise...avoid it.
Love Ranch (2010)
Some facts
Boxer name, Bruza, no doubt is linked with almost mythical boxing manager Amílcar Brusa, who trained some good boxers, among them the big Carlos Monzon. Amilcar Brusa passed away a couple of weeks ago.

The first fight in the movie I believe is inspired in one of the best fights I've even seen: Victor Galindez (the real and unique "Toro salvage De las Pampas) Vs. Richie Kates. It worth to be some scenes of the match, if you like boxing:
HTTP://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SXXwnFhdKY I can't see the rest of the movie.
Helen Mirren there along with Joe Pesci...I don't know. Also, the "Argentinian" way of the character...I guess they should be some Argentinian actor to work in the movie...
The Three Musketeers (2011)
My god...
Friend of mine invites me to a free preview. Half an hour after the movie started I said to myself "thanks I didn't pay for this". I don't like to say "never" but I have to make a big effort to remember any film as bad as this. Those "Matrix/Ocean Twelve/Mission Impossible" scenes totally out of context, out of time and out of everything made me feel embarrassed. When I saw the shipping flying, well, that was too much.
It's a pity because they were good actors, specially Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen. Mila Jovovich it's a beauty, but her acting skills are not on the top, specially working along with Waltz.
This movie should be done with more cheap actors and having younger people as target.
