Trust (2018)
Brendan Fraser made this series for me
This series was artfully done, well directed and the acting was good throughout. Whole the series could've been shorter, it felt a bit drawn out, but it was also kind of incredible to see this story laid out so extensively. All in all I highly recommend it. I thought it was great. The show stealer for me was definitely Brendan Fraser as narrator in the role of Fletcher Chase. He was so good. Most definitely my favorite part of this. I've missed seeing him play leading roles. And now it won't let me post unless I've written 600 characters so here's the blah blah blah bs to meet that stupid rule. Whatever!!!!!!
How to Talk to Girls at Parties (2017)
The strangest romantic story
Ok. So, yes, it's weird. But that's also what makes it glorious. It's messy, crazy, weird and fun. And in the end a romance. So if you don't like how strange Neil can be, then you don't really appreciate all he is as an artist.just sit back and enjoy it's wonderful weirdness and embrace the underlying messages. There are those of us old enough to remember the punk movement and what it actually stood for and then the adults we all ended up becoming and the messy contradictions that lay along that path for us all. Neil gets it. If you don't. I'm sorry. Keep your negative reviews to yourself.
Red Notice (2021)
Sadly misses the mark
It's clear that someone was attempting to start a series to join the Mission Impossible, Ocean's Eleven cannon, but it's just too predictable and more importantly it's awkward and clumsy. I absolutely love all of the key actors, but sadly it just kinda falls flat. Needed much better writers and director to compete with the best in this genre/cannon.
Reminiscence (2021)
Well written, unique and engaging
Anyone who says they didn't like this doesn't like complex, intelligent, futuristic stories like Inception, Adjustment Bureau, Blade Runner or Altered Carbon. These are not for those who need their stories fast, loose and forgettable. Lisa Joy did an amazing job with this just as she did with Westworld. So if you have liked the movies I listed above, just ignore the haters who want to talk this down and watch it. Enjoy. It's well worth the watch.
The Empty Man (2020)
Smart; original; creepy
So we didn't read the graphic novel this was based on, so we can't compare to that, but on its own as an original entry into the suspense/horror genre, this ranks at the top of the stack, joining the likes of Hereditary and Midsommer, Babadook, It Follows, Us, Get Out, etc. If you liked any of these then give this one a try. We really liked it. Maybe not as good as some of those, but it's a good one.
Boss Level (2020)
Loved it! High octane fun!
Creative. Funny. Easy to watch. Grab a snack, sit down and enjoy the ride ;)
Finding Steve McQueen (2019)
Such a hidden gem
Endearing. Funny. Great story told in a creative way. Just watch it.
Katla (2021)
Solid Sci-fi mystery worth watching
We really liked this series. Dubbing was actually really well done; which we personally rarely find to be the case. Great storyline. Different from other entries in this genre. Ignore the negative reviews. We almost didn't and we're so glad we decided to give it a try. Had us hooked from the very first episode. Could've almost been a stand alone limited series, but will be interesting to see what they do with a second season. Worth watching in our opinion.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Where to begin?
It's so horrible I'm so many ways. Just watch a preview and if you can't see from that how bad it is, well, watch and make your own mind up about it. There are a few good moments, but overall it's just dumb; best part is the end credits. Sad, because it could've been good, but it failed.
Mindhunters (2004)
So incredibly bad
These characters are so believable as FBI agents it's laughable. Terrible dialogue and a ridiculous, pointless story and unsatisfying ending. Rent Harlin simply cannot direct a decent film. Skip it and watch paint dry. It will be less disappointing.
Instant Family (2018)
Not good subject matter for a dumb, slapstick comedy
There's a movie to be made about this family, but this wasn't it. Having been a member of a family that took in foster kids, this movie attempts to make light of a really serious subject. They turned a heartwarming story into a dumb, over the top, comedy. Would have been better if they had made it a "dramedy." Mark and Rose were just way too over the top and, well, screechy and stupid. I'm sorry, but the 7.+ rating is actually shocking considering how bad this movie is. It's annoying and makes light of a situation that is actually very challenging and emotionally difficult. I would have loved it if they made a real movie about this family.
Inheritance (2020)
So badly written, to the point of stupidity
We love Simon Pegg, but this was a bad role choice, and, sorry Lily, but you were not cast well either. Lily is supposedly the DA for Manhattan, yet there is no evidence of her ability for deductive reasoning or keeping her cool in the face of a challenge. No ability to be objective and question things accordingly. She is weak, overly emotional and can't make an intelligent decision to save her life. So...DA for Manhattan? Yeah, right. Oh, and why keep that guy alive? And why hand over such a deep dark secret with no information? Why make it a mystery if she's supposed to carry on the secrecy? If the truth is to "stay buried" then why keep the evidence alive and then not give her the information she would need to manage through it? And why when you are left with such a dark secret would you not WAIT FOR THE DAMNED EVIDENCE YOU ASKED YOUR COP FRIEND FOR BEFORE LETTING THE GUY GO?! Whatever. It's a terrible script that makes no sense. Don't bother. Sorry Simon. Sorry Lily.
Playing It Cool (2014)
My husband and I loved this film
Creative and entertaining. If you like rom-coms then you'll likely love it. If you don't you still might, but don't hate on it if you don't.
Leaving Neverland (2019)
Ignore those who rate this poorly
Very well laid out and utterly honest portrayal of how these seemingly unbelievable events actually could and did happen. My husband and I can't believe how anyone, especially those who lived through the days of MJ's trials, could watch this and not believe these men and their families. Their only mistake (and I still need to understand this part better) is that they are suing the MJ estate. Mixing money into it will always bring out the doubters and haters; but it is not for us to judge why they are doing this. Shame on those who don't believe these men. To all the haters out there, pray you never have anything this distructively manipulative happen to yourself or anyone you love. Sorry MJ, may you RIP, but no matter how much I may have loved your music as a kid, whatever tragedy befell you in your childhood, what you did to these and other very young boys is totally unforgivable.
