Flash Gordon (2007)
This show is great!
This show is great - pure entertainment. It's updated and different and has beautiful women and a good story line. The sets and costumes, for a small-time TV sci-fi show, aren't bad. The characters from the various cantons show imagination and allow for varied stories. This show is s-o-o-o-o much better than Battlestar. OK, Flash is a little dippy, but, hey, look at the old Buster Crabbe movies. Could there have been a worse actor? I don't know who was worse Flash, Zarkov, or Ming. Yet they have endured the test of time, and clearly set the stage for the various Star Trek series. (If you look closely William Shatner as Captain Kirk copied Buster Crabbe's "shoulder run" - he ran with his shoulders.) I TiVo the Friday episode and can't wait until Saturday morning to watch it. It's like a trip down memory lane. Give Flash a break!
The Janitor (2003)
Clever, unique, impressive, bold
The Janitor, Andy Signore's first full length picture, is very impressive. From the brooding Lionel, to the special effects, the choreography, the music, and the supporting characters, it is an outstanding first movie - especially when compared to the first films of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. Andy has an eye for clever cinematography and an ear for coordinating great music to the scenes. The Janitor is bold in it's use of gore in a story about Lionel's rather sensitive, but, misguided, sense of what and how he believes life should be. This is a great "B" film with something for everyone. While attending the Philadelphia premier I heard this movie praised by sensitive women and burley men. Everyone enjoyed it. A must have for everyone's movie collection. This will not be Andy's last film. It's just the beginning of a great career.
