Quite fun
31 October 2019
The poster and the original title make it seem like a story about misunderstood young rebels. To my surprise, I've seen from the first few minutes that this is a horror comedy about vampires. And this is very good. I confess I don't like the performances (except that of the deceased Corey Haim) and the romance attempt has no impact. But I considered it, for the most part, quite fun.

Good epic chinese drama
31 October 2019
A lot of people was recommended this title for me to see in the Sao Paulo International Festival. I gave an opportunity and I think is really good epic drama about a family over the years in China. I had some problems in the middle of the story, but I could recover my interest on this when the characters were getting more layers. In some parts, I was very emotional.

Joker begins
31 October 2019
I wanted to see this after I saw "Joker". I had considered many connections with that, but I'm very surprised with the fact that the driving force in Joker's movie is here. All the situations are amazing, even though the secondhand embarrassment is indescribable. Sandra Bernhard is splendid as a crazy stalker!

Only for fans
31 October 2019
It is a very simple short movie directed by Pedro Almodóvar in his early career. Nothing special, but I like the fact that he had marked his way to tell story. It's highly recommended for very Aldomóvar's admirers.

Emotional battefield
31 October 2019
Possibly the only movie that I will see in the 43º Sao Paulo International Film Festival (I'm out of the loop about the movies selected this year). I considered watching this because I admire Noah Baumbach and I was quite interested to see a drama starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver - and they are very decent! Even having strong battle emotional scenes, there are soft situations, some even humorous. I like Laura Dern here as well.

Very difficult accent
31 October 2019
I watched this in a class to try to understand the Australian accent and GOD THIS IS SO DIFFICULT. I enjoyed the violent scenes, but that kind of humor is not for me.

Thanks, Vince Gilligan
31 October 2019
I really don't care how old and fat the actors are. I saw a brilliant story, with a good directing and a good outcome to one of the most interesting character of "Breaking Bad". It's impressive the way how Vince Gilligan writes unpredictable situations, because he talks about minimally intelligent characters. Very nice!

Screaming on sunshine, whoa
31 October 2019
I can see many connections between this and "Hereditary", but altogether I WILL ALWAYS RESPECT a horror movie that makes me afraid even in the sunlight.

Joker resignified
31 October 2019
Just before start the movie, a guy started to argue with a lady very next by me. He was expelled of the movie theater, but the whole situation was very tense. It seemed something predicting the bleak weather caused by "Joker". I enjoyed the conflict that the movie caused - After all, who is the enemy? The joker or the society who created him?. The character was brilliant resignified, and that is the best quality here, besides the incredible performance by Joaquin Phoenix.

Really, Wes Craven?
31 October 2019
For a moment, I thought that a teen horror movie directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson - the same team that made "Scream" - could not go wrong. But I WAS wrong. Although the movie has a promising cast, the problem is the mess that the history becomes, specially at the third act, when the werewolf, developed by a dramatic CGI, tries to make laugh to the point of to flip off. I don't believe that someone is proud to have done that.

Golden Gate is not the same after that
31 October 2019
As I was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge by bike, I remembered everything I've heard about this documentary and I decided to watch. It brought me a lot existential questions about the reasons why people jumped from the bridge to San Francisco Bay. It's hard to define and the project could be very triggered (so, be careful). I felt an absent a narration and I think some depositions are very egocentric, what has been bored me, but not enough to have a general good impression about it.

A special way to learn more
31 October 2019
This movie used to be displayed on TV Bandeirantes in Brazil between the late 90's and early 2000's. I've remembered to watch some random parts, but now I watched in full. I loved! I think the story respects the characters so much, and it is very didactic. At one point of time, Paul says "I am straight, you know?", and Kim answers with "so am I". A lot of people doesn't know the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation, so watch this could be a good opportunity to learn. Some parts could be very dramatic (specially the flashbacks), but nothing very compromising.

Good debut, but not so good character
31 October 2019
Despite the banal plot (best friends having fun before the graduation), I was really well-meaning with this movie. I will always support a female director's debut (in this case, is the actress Olivia Wilde). The problem was when I got antipathy with Molly, who I consider very spoiled and selfish. And I couldn't get over it. But the comedy is good in many parts. I like specially the stop-motion sequence.

Great allegory
31 October 2019
I predict a strong hard campaign to make this South Korean movie become a hype until to get its deserved Oscar. The allegory is pretty awesome. I recommend to get a blindly watch, because this could be very useful. I'm gonna pay attention more on next Joon-ho Bong's projects.

Chucky is not scary. Get over it.
31 October 2019
If this remake wasn't starried by Aubrey Plaza or it had not become a "love it or leave it", probably I would not even try to watch. But my curiosity was getting higher. I don't have any problems with the technological plot. To be honest, it was a good try. However, Chucky isn't a scary character anymore. Come on, he's just a silly small toy. The comedy part is decent, but nothing special.

So dumb
31 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The victims already had enough proofs to put that woman in a jail, including explicit videos inviting teenagers to drink. Why are they so dumb?

Sandra Bullock is indispensable
31 October 2019
I took a long time thinking that it is a unique rom-com movie, because many people remember this film with affection. I can see exactly two split part here. The first half is an amazing comedy. Margaret Tate couldn't be interpreted by any actress but Sandra Bullock. And her chemistry with Ryan Reynolds is the biggest highlight in this part. The second half, when the Reynold's family came on scene, the movie becomes quite disappointing, because some parts, for me, is more embarrassing than funny (the nude scene, for example). I prefer to keep the laughs I had the first part.

I still like it
31 October 2019
The fact that it is so short - the film lasts a little more than one hour - only cooperates for this thriller, which takes place almost entirely inside a phone booth, an artifact that became antique now. The tension works, and the movie is decent with its choices. Colin Farrell is the perfect yuppie for this character. I remembered that I saw this when I was younger and I still like it.

Legally Reese
31 October 2019
Predictable rom-com with Resse Witherspoon when any shallow girl could be interpreted by her. The film has a promising beginning, I confess, and the jokes related to North and South feud in the USA are very interesting for foreigners like me (maybe cliched for Americans). But the story does not have too many things to offer and takes time to show the couple who hate themselves, but maybe no for a long time. It's a silly Netflix recommendation for a normal Saturday.

Disappointed
31 October 2019
Due to success of the first part, I was even at excited for this movie. I went to the movie theater on first days when it were playing and I confess that I felt disappointed, because I did not wait for this. The film is almost interminable, has too much CGI, too many sketches and uncountable jump scares. I didn't think is funny as well. Stephen King is correct in his self-critical about his stories conclusion.

Great horror movie, but is not only a horror movie
31 October 2019
From all the genres that could be present in Bacurau, I think that I mostly like is the suspense. I was more afraid here than in most horror titles had released recently. I was petrified seeing that kids playing with that flashlight. Is it a fact that Kleber Mendonça Filho is definitely a great a director-cinephile, who kind have a lot of things to tell. In addition, I loved the little town, because reminded me the special place where I was born, in Apuiarés (Ceará, Brazil).

So underestimated
31 October 2019
I used to see the poster of this film in many indie movie lists and I used to be curious about it, specially because Natasha Lyonne is the main actress. To watch this was a pleasant surprise. It is a story about maturation with a very good writing made by Tamara Jenkis, who has directed as well. Considering the fact that it is so good e has good names in the cast, I believe that it's one the most underestimated comedy from nineties.

I can see all the time
31 October 2019
I had felt bad today and everything that I wanted is to see a movie like this, very timeless. It's not timeless because of its theme, but because it's always enjoyable for me. I still love the minimalist performance by Laura Linney and, how older I get, I can see lighter how much I identify myself on Mark Ruffalo's role.

Scorsese already had made this, and much better
31 October 2019
If I remember correctly, it was the first movie directed by Martin Scorsese that I've rented when I was a preteen. I re-watched now with much more cultural background to affirm that 1) I don't know another director who films the urban chaos as fine as Scorsese does, and 2) he already had made this movie before, and much better. I couldn't get along with Nicolas Cage's character. It has a good photography, however not enough to thrill me from the middle to the end.

Not so bad, but still bad
31 October 2019
I reviewed unexpectedly because I was surfing the Netflix too long to pick something, and I also wanted to watch it in English for the first time. I still think it has good moments, and was deservedly responsible for the revival of parody movies in the early 2000s. The jokes have become even more gross, but it is far from the worst of the franchise (if that serves as a compliment).
