Dead Ringers (2023)
Great Acting-Bad Script and concept
I know people have different opinions and tastes, but really? How anyone can give this more than five stars is shocking. I'm still trying to figure out where to start on losing six hours of my life.
On a positive note, the acting is outstanding, and Rachel Weiss does an amazing job with her two characters. The script could have been better written; it is hard to follow and watch. The jumping around did not bother me, but the lack of character-building made this release very painful. I do not want to spoil the show, but I expect much more from a production team like this. They rushed to make this production, which shows in the final product. I would never compare it to the original, as it is irrelevant to this production.
I can like any movie, as long as the expectation is what I expected. This production gives me a flashback of watching BirdBox with Sandra Bullock. It falls into great acting, but the script/directing/production made it hard to watch.
In summary, check it out, but be prepared for a very hollow production of what could have been a great show. There was poor Character building and connection when the show ended. Without the acting, this would have fallen into the level of absolute movie/show junk.
This is another example of the streaming industry trying to release as much content quickly to its subscribers.
Last Flag Flying (2017)
Movie is well written and directed.
I was concerned with Bryan Cranston, Laurence Fishburne, and Steve Carell. Three excellent actors together in the same movie usually mean terrible dialogue and story. I have to say other than a few flaws in the videography, the story and character building was excellent. Steve Carell did a fantastic job holding a serious roll, and Cranston did an outstanding job as a drunk bar owner. They stick together as they did in Vietnam, and remember the friendship they all shared. It was thirty years later and still came back as it if was yesterday. I do not want to spoil the movie, but I found it excellent, even the ending. One of my favorite films of late, as it was somewhat believable other than a few missteps. It is a storyline and character-building movie, so if you are looking for a lot of action, you have picked the wrong title.
Mr. Morgan's Last Love (2013)
Wow, some of these review are so off base.
OK, first and foremost I think the best comparison is the Notebook on Steroids. Unlike the Notebook I like the real life characters and family struggles, but you have to drop the creepy old man philosophy. So many people are obsessed with old man, young girl "Daddy" complex analogies. What some of the reviews are missing is the true love Michael Caines character had for his wife, and how well he portrayed it. Hans Zimmer music was spot on and the transitions were amazing! I only gave it an 8 because of the ending. My personal opinion is they did such a good job building the characters that the ending fell a little flat. Other than that I highly recommend this movie. You will love it if you have an open mind, and leave your personal issues and opinions behind.
