No Time to Die (2021)
Sorry just didn't like the ending.
Loved the way everything tied up but did it need to end like that?
The 5 film franchises came to an end...a real end.
Going to miss Daniel Craig as Bond.
Some amazing shots and excitement that doesn't disappoint. A truly scary thought that one day no man will need to kill another as banners will do it for them. Murdered by DNA - truly scary thought.
After the credits it stated Bond will be back ... who we wait with baited breath to see. But as a 50 something who has been bought up with them all Daniel Craig's boots will be very hard to fill after this emotive and caring version of Bond. Just goes to show modern day man makes a better hero than anything Connery, Moore or Brosnon did.
Black Site (2022)
What a total let down
CIA, Black Ops, Black Site, Jai Courtney. It had all the promise of a good film but it was awful. Terrible acting - from all, rubbish story line, so corny - please why the white John (Die Hard) McClane vest?
Silly situations right up to the walking off in to the desert. I'm all for the female lead the hero but it was too John McClane, Reacher, Ryan, Bourne and it just didn't work. Don't waste your time watching there's nothing good to say about this. My 2 stars are for Jai Courtney acting that just looks out of place amongst the cringy acting from everyone else.
The Terminal List (2022)
Pratt does surprisingly well
So many vengeance movies out there but blimey me James Reece (Pratt) has one hell of a long list with so many people to avenge - an entire platoon and his whole family.
Jai Courtney's Steve Horn is well acted and believable as the main "nasty piece of work" juxtaposing SEAL Commander hero Pratt who deserves all the empathy, support and applause he musters from the audience.
Believable storyline with the usual not knowing who to trust. Some unique ways of killing people one of which I found really hard to stomach (pardon the pun). A great all round good versus bad rhetoric with money the route of all evil and a scarily believable narrative to boot. Hope there's a new mission or two for Reece in the future.,
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Bigger, better but still memories of 80s cheese.
Loved the original and hoped Top Gun Maverick would pull it off - and it did ... at Mach10. 30 years on and Top Gun School is thankfully still around and in need of an instructor to teach the best of the best all he knows.
Nostalgia with heaps of present day. Our 2022 Maverick is told that there are no place for pilots in the future with unmanned planes the next generation, so sit back and enjoy while you can.
The Haunted Mansion (2003)
Seriously? Disappointed :(
I'm a massive Disneyland Paris fan and had never seen this film due to such poor reviews. Decided to give it a go one cold winters Covid drenched night. Nothing at all was reminiscent of the Disneyland ride at all. A few small - blink and you'd miss them - references but that's about it. Even the music with my eyes closed didn't catapult me back to the ride. Where was the stretch room? And the reference to the 999 ghosts that haunt the mansion? Eddie Murphy was annoying and why did Sarah have to be American? What's wrong with a Manc accent?
At one point I actually thought they'd be a reference to Michael Jackson's Thriller from Eddie Murphy - that's one corny quip that was missed.
Waste of time. Very disappointed. Don't waste your time.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.1 (2021)
10 stars for all except -5 for Kelly McDonald.
Blimey me what a slow paced, badly acted by some, episode. So disappointed - surely episode 2 will pick up. Firstly hate the fact Kate has deserted AC12. Steve looks bored, Hastings looks more bored and Kate looks like she's far too more knowledgable about proper police work than the long running MIT she's joined.
Kelly McDonald's acting - if you can call it acting - is really cringy. So no suspense and no pace and no depth as yet. But I know it'll get better and the team won't let us down but MCDonald really needs to up her game for this season to be remembered like those with Thandie Newton, Lennie James, Stephen Graham and Keeley Hawes plus all the smaller characters.
Disappointed but sticking with it like a true LOD fan!
Extraction (2020)
Hardcore Hemsworth
Loved it. A new hero to rival Denzel's Man of Fire and Equaliser. Hemsworth is on a mission that goes south more times than he gets shot! Some look away violent scenes and some boos when goodies get shot but all in all Hemsworth gets the job done - no idea how - but he does. Well worth a watch if you like this type of film.
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
Love Denzel but this was dull in comparison
Not a patch in Equaliser 1. I looooove Denzel and usually everything he touches turns to pure gold but this was copper at its very best. Disappointed - gave a 6 as its Denzel for the Lord's sake and a few bits were good. Flat story line almost no thought gone into a chucked together plot that had no imagination - obvious baddies - no tactical improvised weapons- no vulnerable victims - yawn yawn.
If Denzel ever makes a sequel again - 2 Guns would have been his best choice - not another Equaliser.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Everything I expected
I worried if in my mind, hyped this movie up too much. But it was the movie I needed! Brilliant ... fingers crossed the sequel removes all the damage Thanos has inflicted on the universe!
Alien: Covenant (2017)
So disappointing
Was expecting so much more. The usual suspense and I suppose interesting storyline but just boring with a capital B.

By Any Means (2013)
Second season ? Er ... Yes please.
I have trawled the internet to see if a second season has been commissioned - but no answers found. After his very untimely demise in Luther, I was looking forward to Warren Browne in this, what seemed to be, black - ops - of - the - police - world drama. Browne was a much more sexy, controlling and formidable character than that of Sgt Ripley along side Idris Elba. He had a gun, slept around and killed people! Cool. I did think at times corny, but almost embraced it as the characters seemed to excel at playing corny anyway. I love the concepts: are they police/aren't they police ... the grey area ... shadowy characters that don't need to live by rules... criminals that were too far up the food chain (and there own arses) to think they were ever going to be caught. I think this series deserves another run to see if it can mature and grow on the critics. There is a place for this type of genre as there really isn't anything else like it from UK at the moment. Give it a chance - I think it has the potential!
