Coach Carter (2005)
A great basketball-movie that makes you feel fortunate
This movie is about a basketball coach (jackson) who uses unconventional methods to get the students he coaches to be academic winners as well as winners on the court. Of course everybody turns on him at first, but it all works out in the end. I thought this was a great movie, mainly because Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor and really makes Ken Carter come alive. it is sometimes a bit too moralizing here and there, but it's a good change from all that brainless violence you usually see in theaters! As the story is based on a true story i think the real Coach Carter must have been a good man, devoting his time saving his students from the terrible things that can happen to you groing up in a neighborhood these kids grew up in.
Taken (2002)
Taken
I first saw taken when it aired on the scifi-channel back in 2002. I was on holiday in NY at the time. From the first episode I was hooked. I could only watch 5 of the 10 episodes at the time, because my holiday was over. I was so depressed when I got home. Then, last year it aired on the BBC and I watched the series for the second time. I recently bought the DVD.Taken tells the story of 4 generations of 3 family's that all have something to do with alien-abductions.But is is not just about that, it also lets you in to their lives and lets you look at how they cope with things.I think the script is just brilliant an the actors are very well-casted. Everyone, go and see the series, I'm sure you'll love it!
