Designated Survivor (2016)
This show caused me to leave Netflix altogether
I enjoyed watching this show with my elderly mother, but then inexplicably, the show went off a cliff in season 3 by adding profanity, nudity and leftwing agendas. Given that this was specifically done by Netflix, I have cancelled my subscription.
Catastrophe (2015)
Guess what? Conservatives like this show also...
Some other reviewers commented that "Trump-loving conservative types" do not like this show? Not true. Not only do my husband and I love the show, we could be this couple. They say things we have actually said to each other and we both laugh hysterically when that happens. The writing is clever and somewhat vulgar, just like us! Sad to see this show end.
Russian Doll (2019)
I never liked Natasha Lyonne before, but now...
I love her! She was perfect in this role of a woman who dies repeatedly during her own birthday party. I loved her look and her chutzpah, when I've always been repelled by her before. I will say she looks way older than her birthday in the story suggests, but Natasha and the surrounding characters all seem very authentic to both New York and to the story. Also, the short episodes make it so easy to watch. I've been recommending this show like crazy!
The Girl Most Likely to... (1973)
I found this movie on YouTube!
I remembered seeing this movie as a kid and went looking for it. It's on YouTube! Love Stockard Channing in this and it seems to be the basis for a recent Netflix movie called "Insatiable".
Waterloo Bridge (1940)
Truly One of the Most Romantic Films Ever
I only just saw this movie for the first time on TCM and was completely and utterly mesmerized by Vivian Leigh and Robert Taylor. The scene in the Candlelight Club is so beautiful I am still dreaming about it. The dreamy ambiance of the whole movie just pulled me in so that halfway through the movie I just started bawling, knowing that there had to be a tragic ending. Nothing makes a woman feel better than a good cry at an old romantic movie. The only movie that made me cry more was "Wuthering Heights" starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. They just don't make truly romantic movies like that anymore. I guess that's due to the lack of any truly innocent characters in modern screen writing or literature and it's the tragic loss of innocence that makes the most romantic stories.
