Just another show where...

...if you are not a stereotype, you don't belong even with your family.

As someone who probably wouldn't pass my culture's "test", I find the whole concept old and irritating.

Good acting though and has some funny moments.

Accurate and funny
27 January 2021
As someone who remembers the half part of the 70's, I say that this show is accurate to the smallest details, era wise. After all, at that time, the world changed a lot slower. House decorations, clothes, everything is like it really was.

A great show for the younger generation to experience Greece in the years our country started to enter the Western world. Even with a dictatorship, Greece was a country with citizens eager to experience and be part of the modern world. Electric appliances bought with installments, TV enters our lives, young people rebelling against the dictatorship, women taking control of their lives and on the other hand older generations don't know how to react in this new world. We also see the fear in everyday lives. People who act like they support the dictatorship to protect their families, others who will gladly snitch the communists and all those opposed and the struggle to have a normal life in a time where a wrong word could ruin everything. It's a shame ERT doesn't have an option for English subs for this show.

I would like better acting in some scenes, but the direction is excellent. Olga Malea does great work.

Could be so much more.

Warning: Spoilers
This looks like someone tried to sell an idea for Star Trek:Starfleet Academy, couldn't and CW picked it up. And then the network got so involved in it that turned it into a YA drama, only set in some decades from now. Not a bad idea if you think about it (The 100 was an excellent show) but it's missing a soul and it's so text book drama that beats the whole idea of a sci fi. Surely after 150 years humanity should be more evolved and not be racist, sexist and finding it funny to circulate naked holograms of a fellow student to humiliate them. The plot is not very well written, most characters are not very likeable and of course the magic CW touch is there. Meaning that the alien race we mostly see look more like the modern vampires we see these days and of course the "old" characters are not really old. I mean the actress playing Jax's mother, is only 12 years older.

Who is really the star of the show?

Warning: Spoilers
What seems at first as another zombie show, turns out to be something more. A social comment on modern culture. Nothing new about that, I know, but it's done very clever, with great sfx, great acting and gets you hooked. You will love the characters, root for many of them but you must realize that they are not the real stars of the show. It's all about the house.

Paranormal (2020)

I've seen better, I've seen worse

It's an honest attempt from Egypt. Good production and though sometimes the CGIs are not good, you do believe that you see Egypt in the 60s. Sometimes it makes you realize how much these countries reverted from western culture the last decades. Was that intentional? I don't know. It's interesting to see the inner battle of the main character, trying to rationalize his encounters with the paranormal. Don't expect much from the female characters for obvious reasons. I get the high rating, Arabic speaking people are supporting it a lot and that is understandable. I would do the same if I saw a show in my native language. The bottom line is that it's entertaining enough to give it a chance

I wanted to review because of the unjustified low rating. It's not an action movie and turns out to be not the usual "close encounter" movie. I would prefer less cliches but somehow most of them work very well. Interesting story, good direction, good acting. It doesn't feel much like a low budget movie cause most of it happens inside a country house. A movie worth watching

Not a total waste of time

I don't know the manga so I am reviewing the movie as a stand alone film. The plot is interesting, not the best acting since the actresses are a pop band. Not gory at all and definitely not scary. But the movie has something that hooks you. You don't get bored and you root for the girls. It's an enjoyable movies and suitable for younger audience

Pleasantly Surprised

I'm a huge fan of TWD and never saw Z Nation. I liked the trailer and thought to give it a try. It was after a couple of episodes before I realized this was an Asylum production. Though it has many problems, like many times you think no one is that stupid and although is supposed to take place summer time we hardly see any sun, somehow it is really entertaining. I liked the acting, the cinematography and the way they turned this low budget production into a minimalistic highly entertaining show. Hope they produce the next season much sooner then next year.

Worth the try

Interesting story, good production and the whole series is entertaining. It could use better writing though. Some scenes look ridiculous. Overall, the result is good. It's entertaining enough and touches the issues of slavery and women's rights in a way that makes you think instead of making you feel guilty. Please prefer to watch this in Spanish. The original language is always better.

Sleeping pill

An all black cast supernatural show. That seemed great to me because... why not? And my enthusiasm ended a few minutes after pressing play. First of all, the acting. Everyone seems to act like they are bored. They speak softly even when their own lives are threatened. Is this intentional? Not to scare the white audience? (I also had the same feeling in Black Panther movie). Believe me we don't think black people in shows and movies are bad the first time we see them. We can accept an all black show or a movie, even from a genre that in general white actors have the leads. Second, the atmosphere. Yes it is supposed to be now, but you feel it's 100 years ago. Not that something like that couldn't work and look great, but in this show it just doesn't. Also the script. Come on. Use some imagination. The end result is a show that can cure insomnia. I'm sorry but if they give this another season, major changes have to happen

New world, new Heathers
16 March 2018
What would be the point to make another show with popular skinny fashionable girls, jocks who date them and nerds? It's a different world and a new generation is here. Millennials. Everything is about social media fame and the correct minority to be part of. Heathers criticizes our modern era. Kardashians are the modern philosophers, a dog is cuter than a baby, everything you say is offensive, your worth is your followers and the likes your reward. And don't forget. Your are perfect, no improvement necessary. I only hope the rest of the season stays true to the pilot.

Nothing Sucks
9 March 2018
Was expecting a mediocre sitcom with lots of nostalgia and what I got was a masterpiece. A one-camera dramedy with excellent cast, great performances and the necessary nostalgia in all the right doses.

Teens played mostly by real teens (hope this becomes the new normal) with performances that professionals will envy.

Don't miss this, even if you weren't a teenager at 90s. It's one of the best shows around

What a mess
5 March 2018
Ghost Wars is Under the Dome meets every supernatural show you have ever seen the last decades. From major themes to small details, nothing is even slightly original. The acting is at best, mediocre. There are scenes where you crave for some kind of climax from an actor or actress, but nothing happens. There are even some so obvious directing mistakes that is laughable. The end result is boring and a complete mess. Nothing seems to work, you don't really care for the characters and it will be a shame to give this show a second season because something much better could take its place.
