Hollow Point (2019)
Good escapism
I get tired of people who review films and say it's staid, the acting is bad etc. And I think 'well you try to do better!' This is an enjoyable film. Sure it's not Oscar material but it is enjoyable vigilante stuff. Bad guys get what they deserve. Who wants more? People (and I include professional critics in this) who criticise a film from their perspective, get off your arse and do better, otherwise shut up and let us make up our own minds.
Without Remorse (2021)
Dreadful.
If you have watched any of the other adaptations of Tom Clancy's books into film, avoid this! All the others were, by degrees, quite good. This is awful! The script is dreadful, the directing is chaotic, and the acting is laughable. If you have read the book, don't watch this. You will be shaking your head is disappointment all the way through. One of the worst adaptations of a book to film I have ever had the displeasure of watching. The only reason I kept watching was that I was thinking 'this has to get better, surely'. Nope.
Palm Springs (2020)
Very disappointing
I looked forward to this film from previous reviews but felt at the end it had been a waste of 90 mins. Basically, it is Groundhog Day on downers. It's Groundhog Day LITE. It comes nowhere near to drawing you into the story or sympathizing with the characters. Partly because of the direction but mostly because the screenplay is so insipid.
