Lykkeland (2018)
Loved it
Just finished watching series 2. This Norwegian drama is a gem. The second series is perhaps more dramatic than the first but follows the development of the characters and the plot very well.
The Mayday episode is particularly spectacular and brings the whole drama to a peak. It is made better by the fact that the dramatic twist comes unexpectedly.
A tight script which moves between English and Norwegian effortlessly and is very believable. The acting is excellent
I hate it when you can work out the plot early on but this drama takes different routes over the two series whilst still retaining the main characters.
It's signed implying that is the end of the drama which would be fair enough.
Great viewing.
Crossfire (2022)
Just got worse and worse
It started well enough but just got worse with each episode. Episodes one and two could easily have been merged into one and as for episode three it was just a jumble of mixed sub plots and messages.
The script writing and acting was very mediocre which was surprising given the quality of some of the cast. In many ways they made a good job of trying to make something of the poor plot and script, but it just doesn't come off.
I assume this was loosely based on what happened in Tunisa years back, but it lacked the tension and drama you would expect from that and some of the scenes were just totally unbelievable.
Another example of the decline in BBC drama.
