Lady Bird (2017)

A lot of hype
6 November 2023
I'm not sure why this movie got so much attention, I feel like I've seem this 1000 times in indie cinema. The humor strung throughout never really have anything happening any levity. Characters stereotypical of a coming of age story (the weird functional/dysfunctional family, the fat best friend, the vapid fake friends, boyfriends, smoking drinking sex etc)... no one popped out in terms of acting, just surface level indie film. All things considered (and the attention this film got) I felt nothing watching it and the end was typical Gerwig film school nothingness. I wouldn't really recommend it.

Moody, sexy and soft
7 August 2023
I just finished watching for the 2nd time. This is a movie that takes its time and expects you to understand without telling so much as they show the backstory, the psyche and the emotions of each character. Anyone who says it's boring is missing the point. I really enjoy films like this where the main character is a faulted one yet maintains their humanity. These are like how Italian Romanticism films were, more about environment telling the story. Great cast, great acting and great score. I love this on a moody rainy day.

Abcdefghifjklmnopqrstuvwxy now I know my abcs next time won't you sing.

Garbage
24 May 2022
I don't know why people put effort into these kinds of movies. Such absolute garbage trying to pass as good or scary. Absolutely hated it.

Bad writing, bad acting, forget directing when it's a found footage movie. So boring, story is 100% not interesting.

Michael Shannon is great

I really enjoyed this show. I loved the cast and thought it was an interesting premise. Michael Shannon steals the show though, he's actually TOO good! A story about 9 people on a journey to healing with magic mushrooms.

Nonsense and garbage movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Vampires??? Wtf did this have to do with any of the movie? What a terrible waste of time. The sex scene was not needed, acting was boring, not enough back story, cameraman obsessed with long shots..

Skip this trash movie.

More confusing than a David Lynch movie
23 December 2021
Big steaming mess. I'm so confused about why any of it is happening. Keanu couldn't save this dumpster fire.

Side characters were lame looking. I have zero idea of the plot. So convoluted. Long scenes. Who cares.

The most important film in a man's life. and yours.
11 July 2013
I just watched this last night on PBS. Today I am all over the internet trying to figure out what I can do to help artist Jackie Summel and Herman Wallace.

Watch this documentary and then donate. Help them build the house! Spread the word about Herman Wallace.

So beautiful and sad... mostly beautiful.

The court system (along with all systems) in the US just suck. 40 years in solitary confinement is cruel and unusual punishment.

Sign the petitions, spread the word! For the love of mankind and Herman!! We love you Herman! Thank you Jackie!!

This movie rocks.

I, oddly enough, found this at my local Blockbuster store in Chicago when it came out back in 2006. I was so happy that I rented it! It's a great low budget horror movie. Not only do I love the cast (a bunch of beautiful South American women in bikinis?! Who wouldn't like that?) but the story and follow through is genius. Even artistic sequences of animation- Argento style kill scenes. A true midnight movie. I recently bought the DVD because you cannot find it anywhere! I almost want to keep this treasure to myself but more people who are fans of exploitation, low budget and horror should check this out. Anyone who doesn't like it doesn't understand original filmmaking. Only a $5,000 budget?? It's gold.

Hollow (I) (2011)

Worse. Movie. Ever.
17 February 2013
I've watched most if not all found footage movies I can get my hands on. Why? Because I am seeking to find a found footage movie that does not disappoint. Some examples that I find to be good FF movies would include the original "Blair Witch Project", Korea's "Haunted Changhi", Australia's "The Tunnel", just to name a few. The Paranormal Activity movies do NOTHING for me and that franchise is the biggest scam since the Star Wars franchise. So if you agree with me here, you will take my review to heart. You can watch this terrible movie "Hollow" for yourself, just know, you've been warned.

The movie is 70% bickering couples/friends, 20% black screen and 9% running, interior car shots and 1% horror- and I'm being generous with that 1%.

The movie is predictable, boring and not scary. You've seen this movie before, it's every other found footage film set in the wilderness. There's nothing new in this film to bend the genre or add to it. Absolutely nothing happening in this movie. It's the most boring movie I've ever seen.

You'd think someone would get a clue as to what to do with these movies to make them more interesting. Put a creepy face in the background once in a while, something, make me WANT to keep watching.

I found myself looking past the television screen, spacing out and not missing a beat in this one.

This is bad. RIP creative and original movies. Your boring self destructive red headed cousin has taken over and did a crap on everything.

Warning: Spoilers
This show was recommended by friends. For the love of a good spy thriller, conspiracy story and any type of detective show, I was in! After the first couple episodes, I was not drawn in like I wanted to be, but kept on with it. It is after all, only one season. (and now I know why.) About half way though the season, I couldn't believe they had "given away" so much information, I thought the finale would be a for sure spitfire.

Although throughout the series, I could tell who was to trust and who not to trust. I knew there was something fishy with that artist girl, we all know the government has secrets, so what was the catch here? Certain characters, like Tanya for example, annoyed me to no end. There was so much focus on her, I figured she was in on something too and that's why she turned to drugs. No. she's just a drug addict who is confused and misguided.... how the hell did she get that job anyway? you have two phD's?? doubt that.

The four leaf clover? Connect the dots? Terrorism? Nothing in the end was resolved and that's what made me dislike this entire season. Don't waste your time unless you are knew to spy thrillers. The Brits do it better in less amount of time.

You should be disturbed by the filmmaker...
10 October 2012
I'm not sure where the director/writer got his facts on the true events, it is hard to find a specific case on the events that took place, but his style and direction of his characters is disturbing in a sense that many have yet to comment on in this feed and so many others. His direction is pornographic and I'm not sure he protested the poor victims well. Zobel's big director head put himself in the place of the pervert on the phone rather than put the viewer in the victims/employee position. Offensive. Incredible that he is being praised. While the film is frustrating for reasons including the fact that these women did not stand up for their rights. Blending these ideas I have spoken of, this movie infuriates you to the core. Does that make a successful piece of work? Thus is the question, What is art?"

Finally! A good horror movie!
8 August 2012
I have seen many, if not, most of these "found footage" movies. Many, if not most, of them are boring, not scary and laughable. "V/ H/S" is none of these things (although, as a woman I found "some"parts to be "laughable" but I think that's all part of the fun here). This movie has technique, style and creepy, mysterious stories wrapped up nicely like sushi! If you're like me, you are bored of what horror movies, ones that take themselves seriously, have become. I'm more into supernatural horror but this has it all. I highly recommend this movie. This is what happens when you let other people try to Hollywood! And for those amateurs out there (includinf me) take a lesson here! Good work!

Peep Show (2003–2015)
10/10
The best comedy show ever.
28 July 2012
Peep Show should be watched, studied and enjoyed many times through out for anyone who loves to laugh, love and get a hint as to how to write a well scripted comedy. The characters, the writing and the format is all so original and hilarious. I watch this show probably every day. There is always something new to discover watching and I just fall more in love with the characters each time. Although I am a single female living in America in her late 20's, I had no idea I could have so much in common with a couple of male Brits. The inner monologue is dead on and the emotions are raw but total human. Brilliant. Brilliant.Brilliant.

Why?
18 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
First, please stop calling this a "film". For one, its clearly, or should I say, shakily shot on digital. Also, this is merely a movie. A very annoying, boring movie.

If you MUST shoot a horror movie "found footage" style please think of your viewers. A directer must know by now that NO ONE, not even under age kids, believe these movies are real, so just put forth a tad bit of effort in giving the audience something to look at...something to feel. I honestly think the director gave the actors two cameras, threw some red paint on them and sent them loose on some sort of assignment to see what they came up with. And then I think he yelled, "That's a wrap!"

Actors... I'm sorry you were given no script and no direction. I'm sure you did the best you could but we'll never know because all we get to see through the camera is the ground.

*SPOILER*

The ending...really?? Dinosaurs....really??

I would not recommend this movie. To anyone.
