The Terminal List (2022)
8 Hours of Intense viewing
You know when you have an early morning rise, say at 2.30 and you want to watch something so you haul out the stream and see what is good and then spend the next 8 freaking hours stuck to the TV as if it was a Lord of the Rigs (film) marathon.
Imagine if you have your vitals ripped out by the suspense and by working out the people associated to the list as you watch episode after episode. Had them all by 6 but hat to watch to the end of 8 to make sure I was right.
The acting to me was superb, the action beyond believable and the suspense makes you want to eat you jocks just to have something to relax your jaw muscles on.
The story was well paced with each episode containing a single part of the whole and while you could watch any episode on its own, that would be like eating crappy banana ice cream (unless you are a Minion).
Some people may not like the story line as it highlights problems within the U. S. A. Military and most likely all other Armed Forces. However, maybe some civilians will be able to understand what Camraderie is and how military and ex military personnel think about their brothers and sisters in arms.
Well done, have got the books and will read all 5.
Great one!
BE AWARE:
Watch out for the PTSD as there are triggers!
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
To question sanity for sanity's sake?
A disturbing message held within Season 2, Season 1 was to me amazing, placing Picard and all others in a pleasant distraction. Season 2 on the other hand seemed to remove everything that Star Trek stands for, diversity, individualism, love, hate, action and make a psychological thriller of emotional proportions. Had to fast forward in many parts, why? I could not understand the emotions, yes I understood the story line and it is about the Admiral and he does have monsters in his closet, but please don't ruin our memory of him.
There is certain pointers to the world we find ourselves in, it shows the strengths and weaknesses of people within the series and in real life. A worthy watch, expect more analysis than action. Interesting outcome for 7 and Picard. It seems we have alternative timelines available to bring into play. The change to the Borg would make an interesting series.
Roll on Season 3 without the Diversity, Inclusion, E (DEI), and the wokeness.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Acting versus Storyline
Finally got around to watch the series and I am stuck on Episode 1!
Why? It is as if the authors never read the books or listened to the Audiobook, my imagine when reading the books gave me a different impression of the role players even down to the Katana. Yep, you heard it, the sword is a dragon. Not a rapier as noted in numerous passages of the books, a single handed sword that would allow you to do all the sword poses.
However, I found the acting acceptable for the roles everyone played and I certainly did miss a more fiery discussion be the Ai Sedai and the Healer. But the acting was at least a six, but I gave it a 4 due to the headache I got trying to align the books to the story or the story to the books.
Would I suggest it to anyone, yes, if you have not read the books, it is a great (to me) production. Will I continue, of course yes! I need to decouple my understanding from what I am watching.
I hope they continue to improve and allow the actors and actresses to evolve into their roles over the series.
Edit:
Watched the entire series and was impressed, not by the accuracy but that the actors grew into their roles and the writers managed to deliver the gist without being aligned. I will watch season two to see how the writers deliver the story in their unique perspective.
Resident Alien (2021)
Hit all the right spots with me being called an alien
Incredible Story, laudible humour, great acting and good interactions. I watched this with my friend, I usually tell her to keep quiet with her questions and comments. This time she told me to shut up. The best, after it was finished, she looked at me and commented "You must be an alien, you do exactly what he does". I have not enjoyed many shows, but this is to me, laughter wise, is better than Young Sheldon and no, I hardly laugh at most humour as I do not get it most times. This one is great, you may have to watch it again, I certainly will. Thank you to the cast, writers, producers, and sponsors and to Mr Tudyk, welcome back.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2003)
Truly astounding, I hope someone realizes that certain NCIS Episodes have triggers.
I have watched this series from the start, 18 years of entertainment and appreciation. Yes, some of the seasons have been below par, but they have always returned to a spectacular watch, certainly the ability to watch twice or three times as I have done. Having watched Season 18E05 tonight, something I have not experienced in a long time happened. I started being emotional, which I am not in the normal sense. My friend who watched it with me could not understand why, when I explained that the actions portrayed were so realistic of combat and the willingness to put yourself at risk to save a mate, my friend still could not. Thank you NCIS for reminding me of an unwritten oath, an oath practiced and remembered by the few. Now, I have my demons to fight. Great episode and series so far.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
A reflection on Threats and Response
I have watched the film once and it deserves a few more views to get the actual feeling of what it actually means. No Spoilers at all.
I found the film to be slow at first and then jam packed with action and contemplation. I do not believe it may be the last as the infighting in management could be bigger than as a foot soldier.
What truly impressed me was the humour (humor to our American friends) in certain circumstances and his relationship with his father (well done Nick Nolte). I would expect that this would happen in true life as combat situations clears all troubles between people (common enemy scenario and let by-gones be by-gones).
I also enjoyed the sense of biased decision making that was made evident to everyone, a true reflection of the errors made in the intelligence and security communities. Sometimes innuendoes are better than actual facts.
Watching it in Saudi Arabia was interesting as the cinema was expensive and certain parts of the film was pixelated so I will have to wait for Blue-Ray.
A great film and when in Ireland, I hope to see it in another cinema. Just a warning, it has scenes of graphic violence and if you suffer from PTSD, it may be triggered.Had to dry my eyes a few times.
I will watch it again.
Atypical (2017)
Accurate and Profound.
I was asked a question on Quora about the show and decided to have a look.
As a person on the spectrum HF-ASD with AS, this blew my mind, it is so great that Netflix hung it out there and created a series that has mirrored my life with at least 70% accuracy.
While I believe that people watching the series may be looking at the actors and actresses abilities, I watched it to see if the series was as accurate as possible and still entertaining.
It was both, my sincere appreciation to Netflix to step out of bounds, the cast who did such a great job, the writers who have allowed the world to gain knowledge of a spectrum that is so misunderstood.
The show, to me, is a great portrayal of his experiences and from what I can understand, his family as well. The side stories add to the entire cacophony of emotions, sounds and experiences which was also enlightening. I learned a few things about people and hopefully, I can use them in my personal life.
To all the NTs out there, who have watched the series, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
May it please continue.
Scorpion (2014)
WOW what an amazing view of socially inept people
I think there will be a problem with people not understanding that certain people on this planet have the advantage of having high functioning autism and contrary to what is portrayed within the Big Bang Theory by Sheldon and associates, most are inept at handling inter-personal relationships but are whizzes within their subject (with or without formal education).
While some of the scenes may be far fetched or open for literary interpretation the entire story blew my socks off. To the writers, thank you for portraying the people as many people with higher functioning autism feel or do, they are an asset to this planet and should be seen as such which this series will hopefully indicate.
I am sure that as more people start to see the drama of interpersonal communication skills between usual people and whizzes and relate them to their existing lives the power of this series will start to show.
To see HFA within The Big Bang Theory as comedy and within Scorpion as drama is great.
Now when is Series 10?
Prometheus (2012)
Much to be desired or nothing to be expected
My first time so bear with me! What a disappointment, what a nightmare. Was thinking about downloading a Torrent to see what is was like before I spent some 10 USD on seeing the film. Should have looked at the torrent first and saved the 10 USD.
The scenarios were bad, the acting worse. The technology they had was more advanced than the the original and as previously stated by some, there was no due diligence on behalf of what the actors were saying or doing. I have no idea where the writers came from for realism, a women who falls apart due to her lovers infection, has a serious op and then manages to walk, run, fight, climb within say 1 hour of the op. I know women are super heroes, most men will admit that. but WTH? Even THOR needed a rest after having his butt kicked by Ironman. Another one; what about the 3rd law of Robotics?
Maybe the intention was to open up a line of alternatives to the Alien series based on the lady in question? It has succeeded in this but left many questions unanswered and raised a few more that now can not be answered like; How did the alien get to another planet without any transport?
Can I have my 10 USD back or a ticket to see the Avengers for the 3rd time? Definitively not what was expected.
