Blood Father (2016)

A Fun-Filled Live-Actor Cartoon
17 May 2020
Don't expect Shakespeare. --- 1. This movie is simply a cartoon with live-actors. The movie is simply good-natured, root for the good-guy fun. It is excellent if one likes movies where, with appropriate pathos, good trumps & beats evil. --- 2. In the action scenes, the good-guys defend themselves from the despicable bad-guys, & in the process, the bad-guys receive their richly deserved, grisly, & ketchup-splattered justice. --- 3. The movie is not at all high-brow. One moves from one semi-expected scene to the next semi-expected scene. The good-guys, Mel Gibson & his estranged daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarity), move between appreciation, explanation, irritation, & eventually to heart-felt love. --- 4. The movie fairly well explores a father's love for his daughter. In real life, this is truly one most beautiful emotions in human existence. --- 5. With this movie, just have fun. The 1:30 that one spends on this movie will be well spent, Enjoy.

Killing Lincoln (2013 TV Movie)
10/10
Most Excellently Done; Watch This
17 February 2013
If you watch this movie, you will know the facts of the events leading to, the events of, and the results of Abraham Lincoln's assassination. This is most excellently performed.

The actors who portrayed both Lincoln (Billy Campbell) & Booth (Jesse Johnson) performed A plus roles. Both actors conveyed the feel of the age and the personality of both historical persons as history has made them known to us. Excellent. Johnson for sure deserves an award. Watching his performance, you will feel that you know Booth.

If you are at all interesting in these events, watch this movie. You will be well educated, informed, and entertained. In this modern day, such a combination is rare, indeed.

In the highest minded rationale, this is as good an expression of the TV art as there can be.

Burn Notice: Scorched Earth (2012)

Best Burn Notice Episode of Many Great Ones
14 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched every Burn Notice episode at least twice. This episode is as good as any BN episode comes to pulling heart strings. While, most BN episodes have a fair bit of action, this one ups the action to continuous and non-stop. This one leaves you breathless and tired. It will be tough to top this episode for action.

Hats off to the BN creators, and hats off to the best drama series in all of TV. (BTW, Person Of Interest is the second best series in all of TV.)

As a semi-spoiler, in this episode, CSS agent Jason Bly was exceedingly rude, ungracious, and lacking in gratitude. Despite Bly's and Michael's differences in, I think, seasons 1 & 3, the last time Michael and Bly crossed paths, Michael saved Bly's life, and they departed each other on fair terms.

Triggers: Watch It
4 December 2011
Watch Triggers. It is informative, entertaining, fast-paced, knowledgeable, educational, and an historical learning experience. Triggers provides a number of chronological, historical presentations showing the technological and historic lineage of the weapon which is centerpiece of the episode. One gets to see how the various predecessor weapons and related science advanced through time in order to arrive at centerpiece weapon. Of course, there is a number of the obligatory rather fun-filled, enlightening, and instructional shooting demonstrations and contests. These demos and contests are arranged so that the viewer has a rooting interest in the weapon in question. Further, the viewer is primed and eager for the final head-to-head shooting contest using the centerpiece weapon versus an alternative, similar weapon. All in all, in each episode, you'll learn and be entertained. It's not brain surgery, but Triggers is worthwhile. Not bad, indeed.

Person of Interest: Pilot (2011)
Season 1, Episode 1

Person Of Interest: Pretty Darn Good & Worthwhile
25 September 2011
POI pilot: can't much better than justice generally triumphant. It's like the Equalizer meets Burn Notice meets Human Target meets Jack Bauer (but on a local scale) and a hero with Jack Bauer capabilities. Reese, a tortured soul with no family or friends, meets out justice with most of the good people getting saved, some evil guys becoming deliciously dead, others getting non-lethally shot in the leg, and living evils going to jail. Reese does as penance for all of the rough things that he did in his prior CIA/spy employment. The plot twists were involved and unexpected. POI is entertaining and cool. If you enjoy justice/good prevailing, bad guys getting their comeuppance, & the indigent/helpless saved (I do), POI is worth watching.

Covert Affairs: Great Start To Season 2
7 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler Alert !! I was most happy & pleased with this 1st episode of Season 2. Action, pleasant character interaction, a number of story pickups from last season (Annie/Ben, Arthur/CIA lawyers), good writing & acting, plot twists, & all that made CA so charming last year. All of the characters from last year (Auggie, Joan, Arthur, Jai, &, of course, Ben) make an appearances.

If things continue like this s2e1, Covert Affairs will be at the top of the summer ratings again. Again, you will not be disappointed.

Spoiler part: At the beginning of the episode, I was quite happy, and you will be also. Figure it out. :)

Covert Affairs = #2
7 June 2011
Yes, Covert Affairs is #2 in all of TV. Burn Notice is #1. Being #2 isn't bad, considering the august BN being #1.

Also, CA is quite good for chicks to watch, because it is caring and sensitive and has quite a good bit of pleasant character interaction. But, guys will like it too.

Over the past 10 years, I have only watched 5 scripted shows: [1] 24 (the best show ever on TV), [2] Burn Notice (#2 to 24, but now #1), [3] Human Target (gone bye, bye), [4] Nikita (hot chick on a mission, kicking all bad guys' butts), and CA (#2 now).

Watch Covert Affairs. You won't be disappointed.
