Boy A (2007)
A hard film to watch that rewards those that do
We have all came across the stories and events of young children committing terrible crimes. They must be evil and need to be locked away as they are clearly not the same as you and me are they? Well what if they were the same, only they had a moment of madness, a moment that they did without thinking when they were young enough to know it was wrong but not too fully realise the full extent of their actions? This film does what all great films do, it educates and opens your eyes and mind to new on suggestions, in a sense it widens your experiences. If you really let it this film will get into your head and cause you to fight with your preconceived ideas on punishment for people or whether they deserve forgiveness.
This is a great film, I really liked it but I felt uncomfortable during most of it because I knew deep down it was just asking me a question. I know what the lead character did is wrong, I know he was a child when he did it, but now you see him in a new life, touching other people's lives. The film does have an ending for you but this is not the point of the film. The really ending is in your head and it stays with you, "are you are willing to forgive someone like Jack?"
The Mist (2007)
Loved it Loved it
When your left with the need and desire to watch a film again straight after then you know you have enjoyed yourself.
It had great acting, story, pace, suspense, characters and twists.
TO answer some people who did not appreciate a lot of aspects of this film it touches on what makes us all human, emotion in stress.
Yes we would be as stuborn as some characters, yes we could be lead by them into beleifs we would normally dismiss. And people forget they are not fighting all out monsters, but creatures. There is a big difference, creatures like for example the flying insect like creatures may not attack unless scared or provoked. They are not form our planet so are not familiar with glass, cars and doors, so allow them their stupididty.
The ending.. Brilliant, To anyone who does not believe it possible to do such a thing , please remove your head from under your pillow and face the real world. Would you watch your son get killed to death by a spider or unknown beast? I do not think so , and at the time he was 1000% sure this was the destiny. Maybe he could of waited it out, perhaps they could of had them wait a day or two, then him do it, then perhaps a few days later help arrive. But your watching a film, the need for the dramatic effect is there, and the need for him to go out the car screaming.
All in all I want to watch it again, and I want to watch another film like it. Oh and yeah I loved it for its Half like feel as well :)

Will scare your girlfriend, but not you.
I am not really one for horror films normally, but i fancied a fright.
For the first part i enjoyed it, it built up well had me worried i was not going to be comfortable for the next hour or so. Then instead of squeezing me it seemed to let me off the hook and became too visual for me. Unless your 12 years old or your mum the suspense is not in blood on walls or monster masks its in the not seeing and understanding, and this film seem just lost all this. Instead it opted to try and scare me or freak me out with what looked like cheap effects and sadly a lack of imagination.
Truth be told, i don't think this film would of scared me even if i watched it in a hotel room, number 1408.
6/10 Worth a watch if you like the genre and want to scare your girlfriend but not yourself. Cushack plays himself and samuel turns up to take another paycheck.
Alexander (2004)
Please keep making these films
After all the unfair criticism of this film and other great films of late. I really do hope Hollywood does not turn into a commercial machine of sequels, predictable plots and repetitive action hero's.
Critics sadly need to justify their role, and always feel strongly for or against a film. This was sadly too easy for small minds to pick fault towards. And so they did.
For me it really captured what post Myth times must of been like, inspiring people to try and live up to their gods reputations. I loved the references, the action scenes, the dialogue and the struggle Alex must of faced been shown cleverly.
Please don't be put off by the low ratings and reviews, if you enjoy spending time watching films on an intellectual level made for adults, then watch this.
Great film, enjoyed every minute of it.
