The Silence (2019)
Ok to watch but don't over think the plot.
It's an OK film, if there's nothing else to watch stick it on, it's not terrible, at times it was actually quite enjoyable. The almost sudden ending was terrible however, but at that point you realise you've sat through an hour and a half and it wasn't a complete disaster.
It has a bit of x-files/bird box/stranger things/gremlins vibe to it. If you enjoy any of those, you won't be far off the mark.
If you wanted to sit down and pick holes in the plot, it would be incredibly easy to do so. But if you can let the plot holes ride, it's OK, maybe even good.
Peppa Pig: Festival of Fun (2019)
Daughter enjoyed it, naturally, "it's peppa pig Daddy!!"
Kids that like peppa pig, will enjoy it. But, to be honest it felt like a massive cash grab. The first movie just felt a better experience with the actor from the stage show narrating, where as this has other children in between the episodes which is pretty dismal. Thankfully we had two free cinema tickets from the bank to use up, otherwise would have felt robbed, that said my daughter had fun, and that's all that matters. Parents, maybe sneak a gin/vodka in to get through it... top tip.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Great story, nice and arty, but sooo sloowww
Maybe I'm use to films which rattle through there story line and I'm not giving this film enough credit... I don't know... At first I enjoyed the long sequences with music... but as the film went on I gradually got bored of how long some of these scenes where. Minutes of my life wasted while a lift went up, more when one scene showed the slow unscrewing of some door bolts. I feel like if these slow segements where removed the film would end up being 30 minutes long... it's that sort of film. Yes it's a masterpiece in many ways, but it's also incredibly boring in others.
