The Origin of a Legend!
6 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was the low star reviews here that convinced me this was a must see film. It had to be amazing for so many people to waste so much time trashing it, and again I was right.

Billed in the opening as the film that inspired the action figure that was the star of Andy's birthday party in Toy Story, this film plays like an action movie for kids which is exactly what I wanted.

Action, humor and drama, but mostly just fun, this is the original story of the planet's favorite Space Ranger and how he became a legend.

If you just want something to complain about there are plenty of bad movies in the world, but this is not one of those. Outstanding animation and voice acting make this another great Pixar flick for the family.

Brilliant and fun!

Nostalgia and entertainment. The animation is very good and Richard Linklater's script and direction are perfection. Add the cast and you've got entertainment. Maybe it's because I am from the era, but I loved this. Give it a shot.

Hilarious! Ignore the haters.

I came for Sarah Silverman and Seth Rogen and stayed for the whole series. If you have no sense of humor then watch something else, but if you have an open mind give this a chance!

A rare, quality Holiday flick!
26 November 2021
Ignore the whiners. If they didn't like this they weren't there.

This was fun, and made as a holiday flick for the modern era with a fun homage to a bygone era for parents and grandparents.

Clever humor, 80's jokes, Neil Patrick Harris and Steve Zayn. While many modern holiday flicks fall short, this one made me laugh out loud and is definitely a new holiday classic.

This is a fun movie for parents and kids alike!

It's exactly what it appears to be, a don't miss!
13 November 2021
The bad reviews are from the trolls who don't know any better and couldn't express it if they did. This isn't supposed to be Citizen Kane. It's supposed to be a fun, action packed flick with a top notch leading cast. You wouldn't be disappointed if you watched for the cast alone, but stay for the thrills.

Above average action thriller that may have gone over some people's heads!
2 October 2021
As an adult i make my own decisions about what to watch which works out because apparently no one has any taste left in this world. Every film I enjoy is buried in poorly worded and misspelled one star reviews that seem to have been cloned from some website as apparently those without taste are also free of original thought.

This is a taut thriller with an outstanding cast. It is well worth a watch. It is the ludicrous reviews that you should be avoiding here.

Fun, epic sci-fi action flick!
19 September 2021
An outstanding cast delivers fun and excitement worth watching. I should mention that it was the poorly worded, knee-jerk one-star reviews that inspired me to watch this so I owe thanks to the whiners for today's entertainment, but that is really giving them more value than they deserve.

Fans of Anton Fuqua, Mark Wahlberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Toby Jones and Liz Carr (who I loved in Silent Witness) should put this on the watchlist immediately.

A great beginning for Paramount Originals. I look forward to what comes next.

Well done, original interpretation of a Stephen King masterpiece!
11 September 2021
As a fan of the novel, having read both the original and uncut versions, and a fan of Mick Garris' original miniseries, I understand the frustration some people expressed here. Having said that I think that people should be giving this version a chance to stand on it's own.

A really amazing cast delivers some powerful performances to bring this story to life. Focusing on the characters in the now and flashing back to the time of the plague gives this version a very different rhythm than the original, but it's all here and worth watching til the end.

It is difficult to imagine being tasked with remaking something that has the pure cult status of the Garris miniseries and some credit should be given for finding another path through this story without losing the humanity and drama of the original.

If you really love this story you owe it to yourself to take a fresh look at it. You simply have more choices to watch it in the future.

Like it or don't, but don't completely ignore it because it isn't a clone of the first because then you are missing some quality entertainment.

Robert Rodriguez brings another fun kids adventure to the screen!
2 January 2021
The man who brought you Spy Kids and Sharkboy and Lavagirl has done it again. I'm not sure what people were expecting, but this is Rodriguez' genre and is what he does better than anyone else.

It's silly, funny and has plenty of action for everyone. Ignore the unhappy people and watch this with your kids.

A Brilliant Homage to the Golden Age of the Silver Screen
27 December 2020
David Fincher directs a phenomenal cast in a film worthy of it's subject matter. A must see for fans of Citizen Kane and the history of cinema. Gary Oldman is brilliant and is joined by a stellar cast to bring Jack Fincher's script to life. Shot in black and white using early cinematic techniques, Fincher boldly embraces the poetry of an all but forgotten era to create something unique and beautiful. Three cheers to Netflix for bringing us a masterpiece!

Heartwrenching and funny. Alan Ball at his best!
5 December 2020
This film is beautifully personal and warm with touches of humor and pain that is Alan Ball's signature. A phenomenal cast makes this one of the best films I've seen this year.

Chris Columbus makes sequel magic!

This is a great follow up to the original. Kurt and Goldie lead the cast this time around and the adventure is entertaining for the entire family. If you don't want a fun Christmas movie you will probably want to look elsewhere.

In the spirit of the original, funny and bizarre.
7 November 2020
I had no idea how much I missed the silliness that was Bill and Ted until they came back. If you are looking for something groundbreaking or new you might be lost here, but if you are looking for Bill and Ted and their continuing saga look no further. This is the movie those of us who were there at the beginning didn't even know we were waiting for all this time.

Family Fun and plenty of it
27 September 2020
This is classic Disney family fare taking the princess theme in a different direction. There is plenty of excitement for everyone here. In a world where cynicism rules this movie is actually a breath of fresh air.

Outstanding cast and gripping drama
6 September 2020
I don't know what people thought they were expecting but this was outstanding out of the gate. Compelling family drama that plays out throughout the universe and a cast worthy of the task. People looking for something else should move on and leave this to those who can appreciate it. This is worth watching if you give it a chance.

Those looking for realism in science fiction might need to adjust their expectations. I love sci-fi and have been reading Heinlein and Asimov all my life and I had no issues with the story elements here whatsoever.

Great Canadian Comedy/Cop Drama

This is my favorite Canadian cop dramedy since Republic of Doyle. I watched both seasons in one week and want more. Surprisingly good and worth the watch.

Forget the Haters: watch this if you want to
28 June 2020
There isn't anything wrong with this movie that isn't wrong with a bunch of films that the haters raved about. If you are a fan of action movies that aren't trying to be taken too seriously, and if you aren't afraid to watch something made predominantly by women, make your own choice. I was entertained and wasn't offended at all.

Exciting and Fun
27 June 2020
This movie is equal parts fairy tale, high-tech thriller and swashbuckling adventure, and I enjoyed it every step of the way. I admit that I did not read the source novel, but approaching this on it's own merit worked for me.

Lots of poorly written, highly negative reviews inspired me to take a chance and I was not disappointed.

Open your mind and give this a chance or go watch something else.

Classic sci-fi 21st century style
31 May 2020
This is a classic early sci-fi television episode lovingly crafted in HD. This movie gave me chills at times, and kept me glued to the screen until the end.

Ray Bradbury and Rod Serling would be proud.

The poorly written reviews convinced me that this was worth a look and I wasn't disappointed. Give this a shot on it's own merit and you will be pleasantly surprised. If you can't think for yourself you can find less entertaining options.

A great adaptation of Stephen King's finest
30 March 2020
I'm not sure what people were looking for with this but I can assure you it wasn't an adaptation of the novel because that's what this is. If you question the changes made and liberties taken remember that the teleplay here was written by Stephen King himself, who also appears in the film. Mick Garris has done an impressive job with one of the most difficult pieces of literature from the past 40 years and brought it to life with a fine cast.

Perhaps the problem is is people taking their own opinions too seriously because it surely isn't with this television adaptation of one of my favorite books of all time.

If you loved The Stand you should open your mind and give this a chance.

Haunting not Humbug

This is a dark, chilling adaptation of Dickens' immortal tale of redemption and awakening. The cast is phenomenal and the production itself is flawless. If you love this story then ignore the negative reviews and immerse yourself in this haunting film.

No one planted this comment
7 December 2019
Beware the lemmings that panned this because of a pathological fear of original thought. This is camp with a pretty cast. Pitof creates a visual feast here and Hallie does a nice job of embracing her cartoon persona.

If you don't like this, at least pretend you watched it and didn't follow the flock to a conclusion. If you haven't seen it, give it a chance.

In retrospect, it is the herd mentality (or lack thereof) that drives the negative reviews here. This is visually stunning and fun and any assertion to the contrary are likely unoriginal.

I liked it and I'm NOT lying
30 November 2019
I'm really exhausted by all the hatred thrown at Disney for remaking classic films. The originals are beautiful, but the remakes are also wonderful and respectful of their origins. If you really hate remakes then don't torture yourself, but if you have an open mind and some childlike wonder left in you then don't deprive yourself of this bit of Disney magic.

Everyone else just needs to get over themselves and stop reviewing movies they didn't want to watch in the first place.
