This was brilliant! Bloody, hysterical & featuring Patton Oswalt as a blue unicorn. Chris Meloni is SUCH a great actor & this insanity is so me it's scary :)

Everyone with a warped dark twisted sense of humour, don't miss this gem <3

In the Heart of the Sea (2015)

bad accents & big fish

I don't have much to say about the film. It is entertaining in parts, certainly not awful & it features some of the very best actors working today.

Unfortunately, it features them forced to speak in accents other than their own and man, there's some bad ones. I am aware of how many actors play other nationalities and do it extremely well. However, in this American set movie (Pennsylvania, which has a very distinctive accent) the leading man is Australian (his accent is the worst, I love Greater Hemsworth but he does Asgardian way better!!)the Captain is apparently American, but every single other main role is played by Irish greats (Brendan Gleeson, Cillian Murphy) & English (Ben Whishaw is one of the best young actors around) ALL the rest of the cast I can remember speaking are English. I know it sounds like me ranting about nothing, but when an entire cast (minus 1) is not speaking in their natural voice it is very noticeable. When the necessary dialect is so specific, it is even more noticeable. Were there NO good American actors available??

Usually one or two slightly slipping accents in a cast is nothing and does not effect the movie. When the whole cast doesn't know what they sound like, it does. Ron Howard is so experienced I can't believe he did this.

Nightingale (II) (2014)

superb actor, superb film.

I don't do reviews. Movies are subjective. I felt the need however, with this acting lesson of a film by one man. ONE ACTOR in the entire thing. Not one single dull moment, no over the top or expositional acts to bring us out of this man's world.

I knew David Oyelowo was an excellent actor. I don't believe that description is enough to hint at the magnitude of his talent after watching Nightingale. We have all said such & such does not appear to be acting because they are so natural. Well, add to that being the ONLY PERSON in the film AND an extremely nuanced character - covering most every emotion in the space of ninety minutes and you can begin to see why you must watch this movie!!

The Hunger Games (2012)

as I expected - a poor shadow of the books

I read these books several years ago and loved them. When I heard about the movies I was hoping for something good, something that would come close to doing justice to the story. Sadly, my gut instinct was correct. Wooden acting, no depth to any character, no depth to the "game" left me feeling - aside from bored - as if I couldn't care less who died. Even the sweet little girl tribute was left .. empty.

I wonder why people say this is so much better than Twilight. Certainly, the BOOKS were in a different league to Meyer's trilogy but I found the movies disappointingly similar. As a matter of fact, I preferred Kristen Stewart's Bella to TheGirlWhoPlayedKatniss and that is a very large statement.

People interested in such stories, read the books! You will love them. You will cry with the characters and care deeply about their fates. Things that simply did not happen for me in the movie.
