Not The Usual Black Mirror Story
19 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Black Mirror episodes tend to have a focus on technology gone wrong, which this episode does still have a taste of. The paparazzi angle is a pretty classic story of abuse of technology. Where this episode differs is that it goes from technological nightmare to creature feature, which is definitely a departure from the usual. Was it a bad twist? Perhaps. It was definitely a bit predictable once you reached a certain point, but it was still something I wasn't expecting at first. That being said, I felt like it was more my cup of tea BECAUSE of the creature feature storyline. But if you're looking for that traditional Black Mirror vibe, you probably won't like this episode as much.

A Decent Creature Feature
8 April 2022
I've been looking for more horror films that deal directly with folklore, especially creatures and monsters. This film delivers some great atmospheric scares, as well as interesting creature design. All in all, not a bad movie!

Not As Inappropriate as People Make it Seem
20 August 2021
Disney shows have never shyed away from tough topics. Lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana both talked about bras. Lizzie also talked about eating disorders. That's So Raven tackled racism. Smart Guy took on child predators. And so on, and so forth. Why are people only mad when it comes to talking about being gay or having your period?

PLEASE Tell me the CGI Gets Better
13 August 2021
The CGI on this show is incredibly rough. Less Marvel, more SYFY Network. Hoping it gets better with time.

Atmospheric Fun
12 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode actually played out a little better than some of its predecessors. The pacing was a little more even this time around (though I notice these episodes tend to drag a bit in the middle), and the storyline was actually something interesting. The whole thing played like an homage to The Hills Have Eyes and The Descent, proving that going for a hike in the woods is never a good idea!

Finally!
5 August 2021
I think American Horror Stories has finally hit its stride! As usual, Billie Lourde is perfect in any role! Only thing that was a little questionable was the very end of the episode, but this is nothing new to AHS fans!

It's Supposed to be Obnoxious
30 July 2021
Have you ever seen the s**t influencers pull? They're all obnoxious and conceited. This episode just takes that idea and dials it up. And yeah, it reads as cheesy. But that's the whole point.

Don't Count This Show Out Yet!
22 July 2021
While episodes 1 and 2 were a little rocky, episodes 3 plays out like a tribute to Creepshow and Cronenberg's Rabid. The pacing was pretty spot-on, though I wish that this had been extended into a two-part episode.,so we could really explore the plot a bit more.

A Bloody Good Time
14 April 2021
Creepshow and other horror magazine stories like it were never meant to be super disturbing. Just good, bloody fun. And this adaption does a fantastic job giving viewers a sense of nostalgia. It's cheesy, yes, but that's the whole point. And with Nicotero at the helm, you know it's gotta be good!

For Adult Goosebumps Fans
29 March 2021
If you were ever a fan of series like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark, this series might be at least semi-enjoyable. It's definitely cheesy, but it has its moments. If you get the chance to watch the episode with Doug Jones, don't pass it up!

Ignore the Nay-Sayers
1 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
People seem to get the idea that this episode was about 'race-baiting,' when it's actually about showing what black people have to deal with on the daily. You can do everything right, say and do all the right things, and you could still be shot dead, all because of the color of your skin. I think this was not only a great introspective look at modern America, but also a very moving tribute to the more poignant episodes of Twilight Zone past. I found myself with tears in my eyes at the ending of the episode, as Nina chose not to back down from doing what she could to protect her son, even if it put herself in the line of fire. It truly was a fantastic display of a mother's love. All around, a very beautiful episode.
