Keep Breathing (2022)
Well done
As a filmmaker I think that this series brought together essential elements of inciting event, plot, pinch point, midpoint, climax and resolution in solid fashion. The team and cast successfully blend back story and dramatic tension in this fast-paced and beautifully filmed product. The action moves with an excellent tempo and the 'hero story' is magnificantly told. We are able to follow Liv on her current trajectory with references to her childhood and adulthood dynamics in terrific delivery.
I encourage you to watch this and believe that a Latina can carry a terrific project with the strength and integrity that we seek in all art.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Brilliant storytelling
It's rare to be able to discuss a movie with many different people who agree that it is good. I have watched it probably four times over the past week and always find something refreshingly new about the nuances.
The Defiant Ones (1958)
No MAN AN ISLAND
Super metaphor. This takes you into the mindset of America as we know it -needing each other at the same time struggling. These two provide the type of example that we seek even today: well done. Superb. I like the word "thank you" -see the movie..... greatest quote

Malcolm & Marie (2021)
Strong
This film is a work of art. From the script to acting to filming and editing...there hasn't been this type of engagement on personal levels on screen since Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The critics of this on the negative aspect may want to see that film... this movie is dynamic and powerful on many levels - it covers the waterfront - historic references, up to date tension in closed spaces and interstitial involvement are wrapped in this work. Superb all.

Bliss (2021)
Finding reality
This movie manages to show us that the best things in life are typically right there in front of us. The capacity of the couple to travel between the two worlds isn't the important aspect of the film-in it's essence this project speaks to the heart of appreciation. Well done all, well done. Selma and Owen blend well in the effort to deliver a message that to grasp wonderful items of our existence requires an understanding of hardship juxtaposed to happiness which is often taken for granted.

The Counselor (2013)

The Queen's Gambit (2020)

Suggest also The Opera Game movie, on the life of Paul Morphy.
From Fat Lolli to 6 Pack Lolli: The Ultimate Transformation Story (2020)
Inspiiring
So. I read the first * review list here (thus far); the one which mentions the amount of money Anthony spent on the process. The person labored to discount the humanistic aspect of the documentary....missing the point(s). Deep within the context and content of the show is showcasing the determination he had (has) with regard to reaching these goals.
The elements of what he did can be done with any diet reg that anyone with access to ANY food chooses. The workouts are manageable on any floor or with any set of home weights and or rocks/logs around the house.
Bravo to Anthony for his accomplishments and sharing this....well done.

Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Solid and Timely
This covers the waterfront- superb and vital. Once again Mr. Lee delivers- he makes us think and feel. With a wonderful mixture of writing, acting, directing, scenery, and historical facts this film hits on all cylinders.
1 Angry Black Man (2018)
Timely and On Point
This is a wonderful demonstration of what young generations can do to shape history. The striking use of classic writers to move the story is outstanding.
Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000)
Cannot Curb Your Enthusiasm
Fresh and clever, it would be difficult for Larry to expect us not to be excited about his series. For the past ten seasons he (they) has (have) delivered. Period. If a picture is worth, yada, yada, I'll stop here and watch again.
Queen Sono (2020)
Substance
Story telling at it's finest. The linear development traces and tracks in a chord of harmonics. Well done Netflix

Knives Out (2019)
Clever
This represents the best in story telling. It would do the film an injustice to say anything else; well, other than: "GO see it, in the classic, standard theater setting with all of the strappings of movie going."
(No disrespect streamers; folk will be able to enjoy this for years to come in living rooms or on e-devices)

A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
In there
The reviews/feedback packets here are mostly harshly analytical and in a sense "chime latent." Ideally the focus I'd prefer to see would be collective encouragement for Lilly's efforts. She is talented and simply could benefit from taking to heart the critical feedback, adjust, reformat, get writers on board and continue. Settle in on that free throw line. You will be fine Superwoman. You're a sports fan; Jordan turned the Bulls around and took 9 titles. Take a deep breath and you will hit your stride in this medium/space. You know the 'ole classic corny-ass Oscar Wilde saying: "the only thing in the world worse than being talked about is not being talked about..." yada yada....(go through each one of your 1/10 reviews and embrace their comments, each one...they are not necessarily hating, they merely have provided you with a means, a platform for improvement) Ken Mask
Burning Cane (2019)
Rare 24 Karat Gold
Good art gets your attention. Great art demands that you return to visit, view. Genius art requires that you revisit and discuss, perhaps try a hand at interpretation, stroke your chin, tap your temple, reaarange your thinking...
This is "Burning Cane:" Genius art. On all levels of acting, writing, riff performances, lighting, camera angles, intensity, tenderness, warmth, charm, anger and vividly displayed humanism, this collective of artists invites you, commands you to think and to question.
In 1907 Picasso did a piece of art, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, now at the Museum of Modern Art which broke all rules of engagement and turned the world upside down. Karen-kaia Livers Wendell Pierce et al do this in 2019. Mark your calendar for generations to come. Ken Mask
Modern Love (2019)
Solid 18 Karat Gold
It's refreshing to see a collection of stories come together in such a manner with this type of energy. Full force simple plot lines and variety places it on the top shelf,
At Eternity's Gate (2018)
Perfect
I've read with great detail the previous reviews. The majority of the "displeasure" reports appear to be extremely personal; with regards to the filmmaker's choice of style, commenting either on their having borrowed techniques from others or the manner in which the filming, camera work was employed. To these, I merely ask them to look at the very topic under consideration. A person whose "art" was considered at the time of his life just that: something with a perspective which made a viewer (audience, so to speak) uncomfortable. The reviewers who gave the movie "strong" positive reports hold high regard for the artist, Van Gogh and thus the implications of their sentiments are in line. From a perspective of a person interested in the process and a student (though not sophisticated) of art/art history the only degree of category for this film is 10/10. An A, so to speak. The work touches on the essence of the artist and the style with which the crew used to shoot the scenes, moving images, captured the anxiety, and frustation of the (all) individuals portrayed. The hand held camera work and the up close/personal angles served the purpose of giving us that (those) insight(s.) It's refreshing to see a work of art, done as a movie, like this. Well done all, well done!
