Ignore the bad reviews. This one's a gem with a simple storyline that can be universally understood. In space there are small margins for error, and this shows a realistic scenario of what may happen when all margins are exhausted. The ending is stylised and done tastefully, at the very basic sense; it provides a glimpse of the sacrifices humankind may encounter in the endeavour for future space exploration. Everyone wants to know if they reach Mars successfully, instead the story here focuses on getting across a bigger message. Selflessness. Something that is very much lacking in all facets of our lives here on earth.

Katie Says Goodbye
(2016)
An innate human capacity
27 February 2021
People who see what a gem of a movie this is understand how it feels like to be dealt a hard hand in life, and then being able to get back up again. In Katie's instance, a series of unfortunate moments compressed into a culminating extremity. I see an all too real snapshot of resilience with a nothing more to lose attitude, where the human spirit displays its interminable capacity to bounce back and deal with trauma and loss.

Doesn't Make Sense!
9 July 2019
The characters make decisions that would leave you in awe. They keep making them time and again...making you hate them even more. In a real life situation, people would just call the cops and get help. Instead they all stayed back another night to try find the killer, not knowing if there was even one.
It's bizarre how one of the reviews gave this a 10/10, calling other people trolls. I could even forgive a weak storyline, but a storyline that doesn't emulate real life situations and decisions? Now that's just lazy and disrespectful to whoever is watching.

This Film Is Beyond Bad
12 February 2018
This is the epitome of trashy television. No plot, doesn't make sense. You hate the character development because the actors did a poor job. The script is unbelievable, I found myself laughing at times, the absurdity of what the characters actually say and do. I don't usually review movies, but this one was so bad, it compelled me to save somebody else's time from watching this. What an accident of a movie.
The Sea of Trees
(2015)
A beautiful movie that explores adversity and the courage to survive
10 September 2016
A profound and real story that strikes an honest chord with our finite existence, reminding us of the ones we love.
Matthew McConaughey, Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe effortlessly brings to life the turmoils of everyday life problems people face and makes it engaging and relevant. The concept of the story in actuality is very simple and stripped down, yet had lots of depth and meaning attached to it.
The score was unusually sublime, drawing you deep into the actor's emotions and memories. I appreciated the pace of the movie and how it slowly sheds its layers, revealing the true lesson of living.
