Ah-ga-ssi (2016)
It's a typical Park chan-wo(r)k...!!!
The Handmaiden is a visually stunning masterpiece that will leave you breathless. Set in 1930s Korea during Japanese colonial rule, the film is a gripping and suspenseful tale of deception, betrayal, and unexpected love...
The acting in The Handmaiden is top-notch, with Kim Tae-ri and Kim Min-hee delivering captivating performances as Sook-hee and Lady Hideko, respectively. The chemistry between them is electric, and their characters are complex and layered, making for a fascinating watch...
Director Park Chan-wook masterfully weaves together a tale of intrigue and desire, with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The Handmaiden is a bold and provocative film that explores themes of power, gender, and sexuality in a way that is both thought-provoking and entertaining...
The creation goes beyond the periphery of societal understanding as well as lies and truth. The genre should be drama and romance as it is a story of love between a noble lady and her handmaiden. The movie is separated in three consecutive chapters and each chapter has its own shocking revelation as well as taste of emotions such as lust, anger, happiness etc...
What truly amazed me was the production Design. For me the mansion plays a greater role in the plot development of the film. It had so many symbolism and whenever each room opens another secret unfolds...
Overall it's strictly only for those who loves the art of Park chan wook...
Aavesham (2024)
It's FAFA's show all the way...!!!
An out and out entertainer by Jithu Madhavan after Romancham...
FaFaa's performance was just mind-blowing His swag just ruled the screen with his powerful performance, Especially when he says the cult dialogue " Eda mwone" theatre was full on the blast what a man of style over substance...The last 20 mins is real goosebumps moments to burst out...
Debut casting of Hipzter,Mithun JaiSankar and Roshan Shahnavaz with their impressive performance and timing stands out throughout the movie...While Sajin's performance equally levelled with Fahad's swag and his humour timings and mannerisms was terrific...
Jithu Madhavan got a feather on his cap again and he proved as a Director brand in Mollywood...Sameer Thahir's Frames with Sushin's Background Score was simply fantabulous...
Kudos to Anwar Rasheed & Nazriya for bankrolling this powerpacked entertainer...
Though the first half takes time to settle down the screenplay is in fine form getting you crave for more...
But the amount of cigars & liquors displayed in first half could have been avoided at a larger scale inspite we know it's gangster subject to be generous it's bit overdose of alcohol & tobacco...
What else it's Mollywood winning streak continues & they are enjoying a large amount of success as their priorities or thirst for good plots is something out of the box...
Srikanth (2024)
Be good & Do good...!!!
Born in small village in Andhra Pradesh to understand poverty parents, who was about to get buried alive by his father because of being born blind, Srikanth is the story of a visually impaired child by birth who with his firm belief in himself and God gifted super intelligence breaks all barriers and hurdles to obtain a degree from MIT, Boston United States and comes back to India and at present runs a private company manufacturing recycled paper worth more than INR 100 crores turnover...
In his journey towards his success he his aided by his teacher Devika (portrayed by Jyotika) and business partner Ravi (portrayed Sharad Kelkar) who are there with him like his pillar of strength and play their role convincingly. In his college days Srikanth comes across, the late Indian President Dr Abdul Kalam Azad who thinks Srikanth has great potential and in front of whom Srikanth proudly says that he wants to be the first visually impaired President of India. Another notable incident in his life comes when he returns his award of 'Business Excellence' because he gets nominated in special category...
On the stage he firmly says that he would not accept the award on the basis of any special category. He would only accept the award if he is nominated with the rest of the nominees in the general category. It is Srikanth's confidence which help him build his business empire called Bollant Industries...
Kudos to the director of the movie, Tushar Hiranandani for making a movie on such a profound subject. The movie is captivating with the mind-blowing performances by the starcast, intense dialogues and screenplay, and the rendition of the very apt song 'Papa kehtay hain bada naam karega' (remixed from the original movie, Aamir Khan's QSQT) which plays in the background most of the times in the first and the second half of the movie...
Rajkumar Rao justifies the role in more than many ways and his dialogue delivery along with his nuances get you to smile through and through. He is just BRILLIANT!!
Sharad Kelkar and Jyothika are perfect in their supporting roles. The rest also value add in their own way in redefining the movie...
People like Srikanth are not only an inspiration to those with special needs but more to us. It's we who need to learn from them and look at them as one of our own. The movie is a wonderfully told tale of grit and determination and successfully goes on to establish one more important point- people with special needs do not need our sympathy. They need a fair chance, that's all that is there.
Overall Srikant 2024" is more than just a movie; it's a cinematic tour de force that leaves a lasting impression on all who experience it. With its compelling story, stellar performances, and technical brilliance, it rightfully earns its place among the greatest films of all time...
Malnazidos (2020)
A funny but cliches zombie movie...!!!
If you're looking for something simple and easy to watch though, this film will certainly scratch that itch. Will it go down as one of the best zombie movies out there...
Despite setting its plot during the Spanish Civil War and having enough mentions of the war and its effects, the rest of its parts, the ones defining its genre, are quite entertainingly unrealistic...
"Valley of the Dead" does not really do anything new, as Nazis and zombies have been mixed together a number of times in popular culture before...
The movie follows the standard Zombie flick formula with one or two twists, Its Spanish civil war setting is not something never seen before. It offers a tie in with Nazi experimentation and creation of zombies, as a biological weapon...
But then this is a drama that runs primarily on exposition, shoot zombies, run from zombies, repeat, find out who's behind it all and try to stop them...
Not to mention particular character coz overall casting did some fine natural performance elevating the movie & keeping it's soul at a brisk pace...
While the characters are a bit schematic, the dialogue is crispy, amusing, and makes the characters more alive. All in all BG eing a low budgeted as one would expect, not of a high standard - but it manages to be cleverly entertaining...
Thalaimai Seyalagam (2024)
Commercially Vasantha Balan gets a breathe of fresh air...!!!
Recent Tamil web series "SUZHAL" "VILANGU" & "VADHANDHI" have been released and are surprising the fans. Webseries starring film directors and famous actors are quality and attention-grabbing...
Being a web series with a political plot, the portion till the end is very interesting and makes you curious about what will happen next. All the actors are well known and the webseries moves in a thrilling manner without any flaw in anyone's performance...
Adukalam Kishore is intimidating in his performance as the Chief Minister keeps subtle yet powerful as always while Bharath, Darsha Gupta, Ramya Nambeesan's performances are okayish...
Shreya Reddy holds the equal space & importance as Kishore & she does it at ease keeping the pace of the screenplay at a brisk...
Jayamohan's dialogues are the strengths of the webseries. Gibran's background score is also a explores the plot with ace...
As usual, this webseries has the same length problem as usual. The story, which was meant to be completed in 6 episodes, may have been stretched to 8 episodes for the sake of length. Also, some confusion at some places hinders the flow of the story. Apart from some flaws, fans can definitely enjoy watching this webseries as a political thriller webseries...
Directed by Vasanthabalan, the series also explored through some pertinent topics, like feudalism versus rebel groups, and uprising of the extremist groups...
The script also does not have enough meat to create a gripping narrative, with enough twists and turns & the web series feels overly formulaic...
In a crucial scene, one of the characters says, "Hindi theriyadhu poda-adharku badhilaa, naamum Hindi kathupome" The web series is bankrolled by actor-producer and BJP member Radikaa Sarathkumar. Now, you get the idea. You really do!!!
Overall a decent attempt that travels the true face of modern day politics with usual formulaic cliches...
Pearl (2022)
Life rarely turns out of how you expect...!!!
The movie is a character study that really takes its time developing Pearl, and watching her sanity unravel. Mia Goth gives an Oscar worthy performance here and really helps this movie be something so special...
Rest of the characters who does movie in & out contribute to her unraveling in different ways, though not necessarily through any fault of their own especially Tandi Wright's portrayal of Pearl's mother, a woman who is very oldschool in needing Pearl to appreciate what she has, and not to dream beyond being a hardworker on the farm and taking care of her family. She plays the main antagonist here, and there are some truly great scenes with the two in the power struggle...
Mia Goths performance where we the audience are like How on earth did she deliver that unnerving too good for comfort insanely method performance? Seriously Mia Goths performance has to be seen to be believed! And if like me you relish in top notch astonishing method performances on the big screen where the actor/actress removes their celebrity mask and totally embodies the character, do not miss Mia Goths performance as Pearl in the cinema...
It's a beautiful heart-breaking story with a sprinkle of gothic elements. Every chapter has an epigraph, and it is invariably a cute rhyme...
The author has brilliantly portrayed the mental trauma Pearl goes through, throughout her life...
One fantastic scene was a 10 minute long monologue with Mia going through all the emotions one person can possibly have and she does it with absolute perfection. And the following scene is why this movie is like no other movie that blows you away from the cliff if she doesn't get the deserved recognition...
Nothing else to reveal as you have a lot of thrilling intense moments to cherish...
Overall "Pearl" - a truly unique, captivating, and impeccable piece of work...
Challengers (2024)
Tennis had never been so sexy...!!!
Luca Guadagnino unique vision and direction bring this complex character study to life. The script is ambitious in its structure, successfully jumping back and forth in time, culminating in one of the hottest tennis matches ever saw on a silver screen...
The soundtrack is already one of my favorite overall albums of the year...The score pushes the intensity of the flick to the next level & makes you exaggerated in regular intervals...
Zendaya, who co-produced this movie, She's great in this movie by any measure, confidently playing a character who is sexy, defiant and manipulative but never a villain...
As usual, it's impossible to keep your eyes off of Zendaya as she commands each scene with her impeccable charisma & her expressions is a stress buster to watch inspite of lengthy runtime...
The chemistry between Josh O'Connor and Michael David Faist Is electric...
The casting does a terrific job transmitting the inner intensity of the characters, often without dialog and sometimes through simply playing tennis...For a non-tennis fan the witty delivery of the nail-biting calls during the hot, sweaty climax will take you at the edge of my seat...
Challengers really doesn't have anything profound about the sport itself or the people who play it but It's the equivalent of a three course meal where every course is dessert...
Overall "Challengers" takes Tennis to a whole new level, but not in a good way like Venus and Serena do but keeps you invested for a genuine piece of entertainment...
Nocturnal Animals (2016)
Sometimes Life turns into something intended...!!!
A rare movies that don't let you sleep after watching them. You spend hours thinking about the end, what if this happened or what...But you don't stop thinking, you keep digging into it because it was so intriguing that it demands your attention ever after hours have passed...
It is compelling, dark, gripping, greedy, selfish and all other moral traumas that come with the feeling of dissatisfaction and revenge. The movie is filled with a lot of symbolism in the plot that drive the narrative of the drama forward and gives it different perspective and layers of the two main characters...
A morality of HOW DOES IT FEELS WHEN YOU EXPECT SOME PERSON TO BE THERE FOR YOU AND THAT PERSON CHOOSE NOT TO BE THERE is
masterfully weaves together multiple narratives, blurring the lines between reality and fiction...
Ford's view of humanity is that we are all animals willing to turn on each other in savage ways. It's so telling that every work of "art" in the movie is hideous... The searing moments of beauty in the work are the works of nature...clouds in the desert, the desert landscape, a tree pinned against a darkening sky...
The mesmerizing performances from Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon make it worth a watch despite it's bleak and depressing story...
Especially Aaron Taylor is so creepy in this movie that he genuinely gets under your skin...
The ambiance is dark, aided by the thrilling background score and the depiction of night time in the movie and the horrors that it hides. The movie leaves you terrified for the night for a long time...
Overall "Nocturnal Animals" is a thought-provoking exploration of love, loss, revenge, and the power of art. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, engages you emotionally, and leaves you pondering its themes long after it ends...
Army of the Dead (2021)
Silly yet funny commercial package...!!!
The action is-well, it's Zack Snyder, so the action is fabulous. There are few filmmakers who can direct action as well as Snyder, or who intuitively understand the way a given character will react and perform during big action beats, and he is all-in on the action spectacle and sharply drawn characterizations for Army of the Dead...
All the performances and characters were great. Zack Snyder did a great job with taking time to explore these characters and making their backstory interesting...
Dave Bautista really stands out in this film. His character was extremely interesting in this film. This might be his best performance yet..
Zack Snyder's cinematography was as always beautiful. Every shot was absolutely magnificent. The guy knows how to do excellent camera work...
The story was creative and exhilarating. Every action scene was an absolute blast to watch...
Though illogical zombies were extremely interesting and they weren't just a monster that walks around for someone to shoot at. Zack Snyder did a lot of creative things with them. How there were different types and all that kind of stuff. It was really interesting and Zack Snyder did really well with the world building in this movie...
Overall forget about critics negative reviews but watch it for Zack Snyder who never disappoints & with a strong morality of Money is all what the world is filled with is an absolute treat to watchout...
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023)
This is a typical family pack...!!!
Direction of Laxman utekar was really great and dialogues are also well written and at climax gives the message " Ghar sirf apne saath logon se banta" watch the movie once you will love it all the way...
It leads a very simple but catching story with everything from laughter to drama to emotions this is a family pack proves the life quote of simple movie for simple people showing simplicity of simple/ common people...Kudos to Laxman utekar for bringing out the strength of joint family especially in a modern day where divorces prevail like a mumps in the society...
The chemistry and candid moments between Sara and Vicky is well done and the family support & bonding is on point...Though the storyline was predictable and routine but the movie keeps you entertained with some of comedy scenes...
Music and songs are really amazing and beautiful especially Phir aur kya chaiye hai and Tere vaaste where top notch thanks to lyrics of Amitabh Bhattacharya & golden vocal lend by Varun jain...
Overall a must see movie from Bollywood as It delves into the dynamics of small-town joint families, housing issues, and government schemes, all with a touch of exaggeration...
Monster (2023)
Smartly Conceived & Executed...!!!
Striking surprisingly with a single-location thriller without a dialogue "MONSTER" is an Indonesian thriller that promises to be a spine-chilling roller coaster ride...
The performances, while not outright terrible, also leave much to be desired. Marsha Timothy and the rest of the cast do their best with the material they're given, but ultimately, they're let down by a lackluster script and uninspired direction...
Director Prijanto has certainly made a name for himself in the world of Indonesian cinema...However "Monster" feels like a step backward in terms of innovative script...
What carries the movie is the kids presence of mind and the fact that they are bold enough to face the situation...
Occasionally, just occasionally, there are moments of brilliance that catch your eye and leave you momentarily dazzled. The eerie lighting in certain scenes, and the claustrophobic framing as our protagonists navigate their nightmare, are the glimpses of potential that keep you hanging on. But for every striking composition, there are ten others that feel uninspired and flat. It's as if the cinematographer took a nap halfway through shooting and only woke up to capture the good stuff...
Monster" is its failure to deliver on the promise of horror and suspense. Sure, there are a few jump scares here and there, but they feel cheap and uninspired. Where's the tension???
Also the two main antagonist doesn't seems to be vulnerable enough but atlast it's the kids that seems to be anti-monster campaigners...
Overall a typical popcorn movie to timeout ur weekend relaxation...
Bi-gong-sik-jak-jeon (2023)
A Genuine feel-good movie...!!!
Ransomed is a captivating film that combines the thrilling true story of a real-life hostage situation with creative imagination. Director Kim Sung Hoon, known for his ability to portray intense struggles in films like" A Hard Day " &" Tunnel", shines once again in this gripping suspense...
One of the great strengths of "Ransomed" is that it doesn't try to do too much and keeps a good balance. It doesn't rely too heavily on humor or push for tears. The movie strikes a perfect balance as it takes us through the hostage rescue process with a delightful mix of lighthearted humor between the characters, thrilling action sequences, and a gentle touch of emotion stemming from the personal growth of the characters...
Ransomed delivers a perfect blend of humor and action that makes it an enjoyable summer flick. Moreover, with thrilling car chases set in 1980s Lebanon, it offers a refreshing and exhilarating time...
Also with few lead characters Director manages the pace seamlessly with effective camera work that holds the soul of the flick & Not to forget the actors did a fantastic job not to say in particular...
The Covenant (2023)
Guy Ritchie finds pleasure doin business...!!!
Ritchie presents his first film grounded in harsh real-world politics, "THE COVENANT" and it's the best film he's made in years...
While not based on a true story, the film is inspired by the many true, tragic stories of Afghan interpreters who worked with the United States military for more than 20 years, were promised visas and then left to fend for themselves in a hostile country after the U. S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021...
Ritchie and co-writers Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies have crafted a story that fits into his humanity point of view, about the deals made between men and the sacred responsibility to hold up one's end of the bargain...
What unfolds is an unbelievable tale of survival, sacrifice and redemption, a male melodrama about bonds and bargains forged in blood...When Ahmed and John find themselves alone in the wilderness, John mortally wounded, hunted by the Taliban, Ahmed drags him back to the base at great risk to his own safety. It's a lifesaving act of love, generosity and sacrifice that delivers John back home and leaves Ahmed on the run with his wife and baby, hunted by the Taliban for killing their soldiers and collaborating with an American...
But at the very end there's a definition that illuminates the title and underlines the film's thesis: the word "covenant," defined as a bond, a pledge, a commitment...
John(Jake Gyllenhaal)is racked with guilt, haunted by memory, frustrated at the bureaucracy that fails to deliver the visas they promised, and he takes matters into his own hands, going outside the system at his own expense, knowing that the only way to repay his debt is with the same kind of personal risk and potential sacrifice...
While Dar Salim is simply great fits into the role effortlessly as his body mannerism helps out a lot & moreover the striking pace of the film comes to his aide...
Overall a passionate movie to watch out from a passionate movie maker...
Vazhakku (2022)
Is everything made off beat is so called ART movie...!!!
A noteworthy thing to mention is that the long shots. Just like a CCTV camera captures real events, the director has captured the performance of the actors by traveling along with them. So the scenes in the film are very realistic without any drama. Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan deserves appreciation for presenting the actors Tovino and Sudev, who have acted more in commercial films, in front of the audience with the perfection that the story demands in this film...
Fight is also unique in that it gives the audience a chance to interpret the story in their own way as opposed to the systematic notion of imposing the director's vision on the audience.
Every person Siddharth meets has a reflection of himself. The director has brought his goodness, cruelty, fear and insecurity to the screen through other characters. A special feature of the film is that it gives the audience a chance to interpret the story in their own way, as opposed to the systematic concept of imposing the director's vision on the audience...
Humans are able to express emotions more effectively than any other creature in the universe. Man's advantage in this regard is that language and more civilized societies have a script. We can say whatever we want and convey it to others. Yet there are misunderstandings among humans that are not evident among any other species.
No matter how close we are, sometimes we cannot understand each other. It would be better not to try to understand...
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
A decent watch...!!!
This third film answers some questions from the first one along with other questions. While this film may be confusing when it comes to science, other dimensions and space travel as it was meant to be a sci-fi thriller & misses out those alien element or creature on a large scale which is a mightiest drawback...
The film basically makes no sense at all and the makers don't care about it as well, not one bit. The characters makes no sense, the plot makes no sense, the science doesn't make much sense. No explanation is provided as to what is happening, how is it happening, why is it happening and why is there a random astronaut inside the wall of the spacecraft, out of nowhere and nobody cares to ask...
This movie was supposed to connect the other two movies, but instead it managed to give me a huge pullover & a lot of theories ain't nothing to do with the plot...
It was a good storyline, but the Writer's/director missed a huge opportunity to blend the diversity in cast when they placed a highly popular actress (Ziyi) in an ensemble where no one would converse with her directly in her language and her words should have been at least interpreted by one fellow crew member which would have helped the ensemble of actors deliver a more visually cohesive performance for all...
The black guy simply punched other ppls face but he know nothing about the quantum's theory...or cannot survive if the rest of the engineer gone...
After at least 3 catastophic events, the space station still manages to function and sustain life, even after the oxygen is turned off, which is the scene of one of the catastrophic events. Despite this the crew manage to power up their particle beam twice...
Overall it's a mess up & perhaps a collusion of one of the most acclaimed franchise...
The Fall Guy (2024)
Inch or a mile win is a win...!!!
The Fall Guy Is A Film Directed By The Same Person Who Directed Deadpool 2, John Wick, Bullet Train,From the very first scene of honouring stuntsmen the flick elevates a new level of entertainment also when there is Emily blunt & Ryan Gosling what else one could expect in this funny action entertainer...
This is a love letter to the stunt team, a film dedicated to showing the grittiness and the roughness of the industry and how the movie industry will fall apart without them...
The Fall Guy Has Humour that Is relatable, humorous And Just All Out Comedic As Hell...
The film's visuals are stunning, showcasing breathtaking locations and seamlessly integrated practical stunts. Without revealing specifics, the screenplay offers a surprising twist on familiar action tropes, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish...
Gosling delivers his signature charm and physicality as the titular stuntman, while Blunt brings her trademark wit and strength to the screen. Their chemistry crackles, creating a dynamic that elevates the entire movie...
Overall If you're looking for a pure popcorn flick that delivers on all counts, look no further...
Barbarian (2022)
Be my little baby...!!!
The film had a premise that intrigued us, and the initial setup seemed promising. We were drawn into the story, hoping for a unique and thrilling experience. The cast, including Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long, added to our enthusiasm, as we had seen their impressive performances in other works...
The movie knocked it out of the park with said creepiness...for the first half for sure...
There was so many warning signs and the plot showcases the consequences of those signs being ignored by the main characters. This movie perfectly conveys how individuals should pay attention to your instincts...
But the second half spoiled the whole meals one by one making the plot utterly disaster with plenty of illogical loop holes...For instance
1. How did the brittle-boned inbred lady manage to get hit by a car, break through a brick wall, and fall (magically faster than Tess) from the top of a water tower and still manage to be completely fine? Because who knows. There are so many plot holes and plot conveniences that it becomes baffling...
2. Why'd the homeless guy wait until Tess escaped the house to say "oh yeah there's a monster in there probably should've mentioned that instead of just screaming at you"? That'd be too convenient...
3. Why'd AJ shoot Tess even though they could absolutely see one another???
Overall a good movie with a initial setup making us tremble is lost in translation with the 2nd half letting down with poor writing makes it an above average thriller to passout...
Baby Driver (2017)
Music on the roads...!!!
Edgar Wright delivered the best work of his career to date with 2017's "Baby Driver" that fetched him 3 Oscar nominations,Truly one of the best films from one of the best years...
This film is a thrill ride like no other as the music acts as the pulse of the story, edited in a way that paces the film to perfection with every beat drop and lyric syncing up with the actions of characters, but also complimented by masterful direction from Wright specifically in the amazing action set pieces when Baby is driving...
Elgort portrays the lead as a highly sympathetic young man caught in a tough spot trying to escape this life of crime & whenever he is on driver seat one can't take the eyes off the screen while his love interest gives a soothing effect & flawlessly carries the pacing...
The movie is literally driven by music. Because everything is edited to a beat of the music. The way the music tunes with the environment of the characters was both unique and different. Gunshots, car horns, or any action will sync up...
Besides having a story that's been done before and you having a sense of things you know is going to happen, but what stops it from being predictable is you never know how things are gonna play out. Almost like the main characters mindset...
The ending is what, no one would have expected and that's what made the film the best. We thought, okay a happy ending. Now what, they will run and stay together, but, when we feel and realize that, Edgar Wright gave us an eding we didn't think or even realize. The kid's gotten a good heart. So, he did what he thought was right. He realised this is his salvation and his love of life also didn't have to pay for his deeds. Even though nobody, wanted the ending, we feel he made the right choice. This is how you develope a character even in a movie which people often consider, typical action movie with cars & guns...
Overall it's a blind pick up of movie one could get out of boredom keeping ur chords at right times...
Akelli (2023)
Pranay Meshram might be a ray of hope...!!!
This is the story of an ordinary girl who is defeated by circumstances and gets help from circumstances, where she is determined not to lose courage and the will to return to her mother land by any means...
"AKELLI'' is a bold experiment. Whether the experiments succeed or fail, there is a different joy in continuing the experiments and in this respect both Nushrratt Bharucha and the film's director Prannoy Meshram deserve praise...
Barring a few weak scenes like handcuffing a deadly terrorist in his sleep and turning off the electricity of the entire airport with just one switch, the rest of the script of the film maintains its pace. Yes, the film is not helped at all by its dialogues. If a writer with linguistic proficiency had written dialogues based on dialects and idioms based on this script, the impact of the film would have been different...
A big victory for Nusrat Bharucha she holds the ace with her emotional quotient utmost with losing its intensity...Way to ahead of places & do continue ur prowess of choosing scripts...
Nishant Dahiya plays Rafeeq in the movie who is seen in a cameo role. His character has no significant role in the first half but proves himself worthy in the second half. He is actually a good actor and proves his acting prowess in this movie as well...
Cinematographer Pushkar Singh has done the filming of Mosul, set in the location of Uzbekistan, very well especially the drone photography are top notch...
He has also received an ample support from film editor to achieve this authentic success...
Overall Nushratt Bharruccha shines in Akelli and quite literally carries the film with utmost glory...
While The movie has its own share of flaws but it tries to deliver an impactful movie that is gripping and gritty...
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
Godspeed Gentlemen...!!!
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a true story set in World War II...
If you wish to see arrogant Nazis get shot, blown up, tortured, stabbed, or otherwise killed, then definitely go see this movie. It was most satisfying to see as many of them hurt as possible. Even knowing that the Germans lost the war, this will make you on the edge of seat during the covert action, but also laughing out loud while they perform said action...
The dramatized narrative does have its silly moments, as shown in the previews, but the story is nothing but if these brave men and women not completed the mission, there is a chance Hitler would have won the war...
Henry Cavill shines as Gus March-Phillips, leading a stellar cast including Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, and Alex Pettyfer on a daring mission to disrupt Nazi operations. With Ritchie's trademark style, the film blends suspense and humor flawlessly, creating an unforgettable cinematic experience...
The fighting Warrior spirit has been lost in many of today's Hollywood movies. This movie shows these warriors in an amazing dominant way, Although there was a huge body count, they did it with style...
Kudos to Guy Ritchie for wrapping movie with the true accounts of each member of the team, listing their honorable achievements and showing what they really looked like...
Overall Guy Ritchie's take on a true story is artfully done with you cheering even through the gruesome scenes. Well done great going guy(Ritchie)...!!!
The Last Stop in Yuma County (2023)
It's a deliciously nerve-wrecking set-up...!!!
With each new narrative development, the film's game of cat and mouse grows more complex...
Some people lay on to the danger they're in, while others are blissfully unaware. The diner becomes a pressure cooker, and you never know who's going to make the move, either accidentally or on purpose, that sets the whole thing off...
You can feel Quentin Tarantino's artistic DNA coursing through this story...
There are little moments of blackhearted comedy among the bloodshed, but through it all, The Last Stop in Yuma County makes sure that those gunshots resonate. It isn't about the violence overall as we're watching people die messy, unnecessary deaths that come about for no good reason. They just happened to run out of gas at the worst possible time...
Galluppi isn't afraid to kill any of his darlings. Who's left standing by the day's end becomes just as surprising as the insanely entertaining journey getting there...
The single location setting is richly textured, with production designer Charlie Textor ensuring the rest stop has as much personality as the elite group stuck there. The vibrant color grading further enriches the production value. Despite the desolate setting...
Also the primary thing that stands tall is the camera work gorgeous enough that reflects the mood of the desert...Also the score combines with what's in the frame in such a way that it satisfies the haunting minds of the atmosphere...While the sound design helps to design or to establish the tension that the least or minute barren desert too contributes...
And finally what to say about the casting everybody did their job in perfection that you can't move the eyes off the screen & therefore keeping our adrenaline pumping until the last act...One can't forget "FARGO" or even " THE HATEFUL EIGHT" Where the director honors the G. O. A. T...
Overall it's everybody's cup of coffee to rejuvenate consuming the medium called Cinema...
New Life (2023)
Everybody needs to see "NEW LIFE"...!!!
John Rosman's "New Life", however, is cohesive, visually stunning and highly entertaining from beginning to end. The first-time filmmaker, who wrote and directed the 85-minute thriller, makes everything feel sneakily grandeur & his directorial approach and messaging is something out of the box...
At the half past Rosman frequently shifts gears to keep them in a loop so to speak, trapped within the brutal truths of their earthly existence & so do humanity still exists on pure manner ...
Cinematographer Mark Evans create an epic feel while keeping the action on the ground & still maintains the first half pace with some beauty of the nature with such a professional work that it makes us suddenly dumb of what is going to come in the 2nd half which is not possible without the contribution of editing that's brilliantly carried by editorial department...
Sonya Walger and Hayley Erin each give great performances, providing emotional layers through every aspect of their body language...
The twist brings everything into emotionally resonant focus, showing how our two characters were more similar than they were different...
The most ambitious and effective filmmakers understand what general audiences pulse & Rosman builds to a powerful resolution and ideal ending moment in New Life, using gore and traditional methods to escalate the tension & there by keeping audience in a loop...also A gentle but deathly reminder of who's in control, a tease of what's to come...
Overall "New Life" feels fresh and innovative, presenting a mix that works so well that it's a wonder no one ever tried to do something similar before...
Cannonball Run II (1984)
Awesome Cars with an Awesome Cast...!!!
One of the Best movie of my childhood, bringing back my memories or yester years...With Always funnny, great actors and comedians...
A film that makes you laugh. Not to be taken in any way, but a fun film with cheesy gags and that's why I love it...
Don't know why the hell critics gave it such rotten reviews but this movie is a laugh a minute!
Also critics say that it is ain't good enough as the prequel but To be fair enough what else can you expect from a car race movie with major likeables such as star partnerships, funny jokes, fast cars & pretty girls to keep you on a right track...
Overall a must see movies for every 90's kids or a modern day turned movie buffs 🤣🤣🤣
Bloodline Killer (2024)
A complete let down...!!!
A different kind of slasher film, one that digs into what it means to be a survivor...Bloodline Killer has a decent enough cast and a solid premise, but it gets lost in a plot that never really goes anywhere...
The pacing was dreadful. Everything dragged so much felt like watching this for hours. It was really tough time get through...
The dialogue was AWFUL. There were a few noteble actors yet no one really shined & can't really blame them though because this film didn't give them a lot to work with, but this was so disappointing...
The fight scenes and kills were ridiculous of not gory they could have tried to make them at least a little bit scary and inventive...
Also hoping for an explosive ending to redeem this film, but it didn't come close to achieving that...
El hoyo (2019)
Intense gruesome & a must see...!!!
The concept is unique and original, some people voluntarily came to a prison where there are levels and those who live in the upper levels get well-enough food and slowly when it gets down to lower levels, there is nothing left and people even become cannibal for that and each month the prisoners are shifted in a different level. The thrilling vibes it gives and somewhere expose the term 'capitalism' make it one of the best movies ever made at least by Netflix...
It is an experience. When Baharat and Goreng were coming down distributing food to lower levels and have to deliever a messege to level zero. It is actually a symbolism to fight against capitalist society...
It has a unique dystopian horror setting and the prescient symbolism at the core of the narrative. At first glance, the film appears to be a story of individual greed and the struggle to survive, but as the movie reaches its haunting conclusion, it becomes clear that there's something deeper going on...
Set in a dystopian future, it symbolizes the capitalist society in a darker shade. At the same time putting a lot of emphasis on communist Ideologies and try to promote them as well. But in my honest opinion, no matter what political structure you belong from; it's a deep socio-political satire that speaks for all the civilized countries nonetheless.
This movie portrayed a great message to the society. Take what you need, don't be greedy, don't take more than your "necessity". We have limited resources. If you take more, someone have to be hungry which is a great reflection of our society. In our community, there are some people who have the capability to buy food for 100 years and some people can't even afford enough food for today...
On the downside, this film contains certain degree of gruesome, adult content and disturbing scenes. Hence, it is not suitable for the weak hearted people. The screenplay of this film is designed with metaphorical treatment to convey the social message which some audience may don't get it.
Overall, The Platform is a path breaking thriller which delivers a strong social message. Give a try for it's unique treatment and style of making...
