X (2022)
Overhyped
I'd heard so many good things about this film and its sequels that I finally gave it a go. I wish I hadn't bothered.
There's no smart storytelling at all, the first 50 minutes just seem like an excuse to make the actresses act out the filmmakers ideal porn scenarios and the last half just seems to be about how unappealing women will become when they get old. The "old woman is gross and creepy" is becoming a weird trend lately and there is literally no explanation behind her behaviour and murders apart from "shes a woman, she will of course be annoyed she's old".
Maybe the sequels are better and give more insight but I'm not sure I even want to give them a go after this.
Grey's Anatomy: Sign O' the Times (2021)
You can tell the type of viewers from their reviews
I don't understand the hate for this episode, for a show about a hospital and a cast of mostly people of colour its ridiculous to me that people are surprised they are dealing with these issues.
Its showing how hard police brutality is on people, how stupid some people have been thinking that covid is a hoax.
If you want a show that doesn't talk about actual issues watch something else, stop complaining and stick your head back in the sand.
Station 19: Out of Control (2020)
Powerful
Very powerful and raw episode, everyone who is complaining about the portrayal of the police in this episode really need to pay attention to the world they are actually living in right now and realise this is an actual reality rather than shoving their head in the sand.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Admiral Peralta (2020)
Not the best, but people need to get over it.
I gave it a six because I was hoping the sex reveal would be more exciting and I hate any episode with Jake's dad because he's the worst.
However, when it came to the immigration storyline I wish people would stop complaining. This is still set in a police precinct so these things need to be mentioned, and they haven't suddenly started with agendas, they've been open since day one.
If you managed to get past the first episode where its talked about the fact they have a gay and black police captain, then you should've been prepared for any commentary they make about issues, so stop whining
I Spit on Your Grave III: Vengeance Is Mine (2015)
Bad portrayal
I watched this one having really liked the first remake, as sadistic as it sounds, when things like this actually happen all the time it's nice to see a woman get revenge, so I thought a film about her getting revenge for others would be equally as satisfying.
Unfortunately I was wrong, while the deaths are good, they made the main character just look unhinged. Rape is a trauma you never really get over but the last ten minutes were just stupid, as if the film makers were trying to say that rape victims just turn into psychopaths who want to kill anyone and everyone, and that portrayal is just uncomfortable and upsetting, plus the leader of the group clearly hadn't a clue how to deal with victims and that made the group session scenes frustrating as hell. Very disappointed
